- Inhabiting only the darkest and deepest parts of the zone, Controllers are a special hazard. Rather than attacking unsuspecting STALKERS like the Bloodsucker, or utilizing telekinetic abilities to hurl objects like a poltergeist, Controllers attack the human psyche itself. Using their advanced brain power, these mutants are able to manipulate the thoughts and sensory data of their victims.

im imagining this series as a briefing for ecologist forces when they enter the zone. it would be amazing if that was actually the case.
Thats basically what the monster manual is. Not just ecologists, but basically an expanded PDA entry for STALKERS just going into the zone.

I hate Controllers when I first played STALKER. Now, I am fascinated by them and I wonder how they would be implemented in STALKER 2.
They were absolutely terrible when I first encountered them. I really hated in SOC how they wouldn't hit you if you were standing 2 foot from them. In CoP I enjoyed them much more. The controller and Burer are probably some of my personal favorite weirdos wondering around in the zone now.

i wished you talked a bit how controllers are one of the only mutants that dont always want a confrontation like the one the dangerous cave in CoP who warns you to leave while you can
the one in the train tunnel?
In one of the fanfic books called "Каратели" ("Punishers"), there is a sentient controller with a split personality, who guards one of the entrances to the Zone. He will only let you pass if you bring him a gift for each personality - preferrably something to read for one and sardines for another.
I know this is an old-ish comment, but do you have some information that very well may be of use to me to find the fanfic? Sounds interesting.
@@GalTheJebac I don’t think there’s translated versions. As for the original books - those old ones aren’t sold anymore, you can only find used or online versions.

Lore (or campfire jokes) seem to imply you wouldn't know that a controller has turned you into a zombie, you'd just have a chat for a bit and turn into a "zombie" (temporary). This would ofc be unfair for gameplay reasons

I always thought of controllers as Prisoners of war who were taken to labs and experimented on during the later years of WW2. That's why they're rare.
The POW angle would be very interesting. Or political prisoners maybe?

There is this inital panic when encountering controllers which has in fact led me to run into other dangerous mutants in a desperate attempt to break line of sight, run into anomalies and I have died from fall damage trying to run away.
Then I got me a usas-12! lol
Bum rushing controllers doesn't work as well in modded anomaly, tho.
For example in gamma, if you get too close to Controller, the psy field is too much to handle and your character progressively aims the weapon higher and higher until he unalives himself if you don't run away ASAP.
I love the end If you dont have the gear to kill one safely be a mad lad and charge it with a knife it wont expect it
Its the based thing to do. Plus with their dangling noodle arms, its a piece of cake. Assuming your brain doesn't get melted and run out of your nose lol.

I usually just send a wall of 5.45 their way and hide when I hear the ringing. Then when it subsides a little, whatever grenades I've been hoarding go in his general direction. Rinse and repeat.
They should make a sentient controller.
One that's somewhat intelligent. Like a crazed serial killer.

Maybe one that isn't necessarily murderous would be interesting too, like one held for research purposes by the Ecologists or something like the zombie from Day of the Dead.
@@nachostv4217 Also i think there was a story of a controller who lived witha pseudodog and he never ment harm to anyone (I think in the story even helped a Stalker) but he was eventually killed by Stalkers.
In my first controller fight i had an RPG and i shot the rocket when my rocket launched and with the zoom effect when the controller sent a shock wave that was the best cinematic scene of stalker for me lol
There's a lot of good russian fanfic books. In most of them controllers burn out the minds of their victims and turn them into zombies that follow them around as a convenient food source. They also have a variety of mutants under their control for protection.
I do hear that quite often. Do you know of any French or German translations of the books? I cant seem to find any in english
I've encountered a Controller in Garbage. Fucking domed the thing after dying 5 times, but was well worth it.

@@IntoTheZone AK 47 with standard 7.62x39 ammo. Lucky shot I guess. I've also put an axe into one's head out of pure panic when it snuck up on me in x18

pretty sure a guy in cop said he used a small sheet of metal to get close to a controller then killed him with a shotgun so they can be blocked
They should make a controller the leader of the Sin faction, if there will be such faction in STALKER 2. They just fit so well: the victims of horrifying experiments involving anomalous noosphere phenomena, highly intelligent and aggressive. Controllers are able to manipulate stalkers into doing whatever, so why not make a faction with them and the mutated cultists?
It wouldn't go with the original lore of what was known of Sin, though, they were not the cultists and hyper aggressive fanatics like they are in anomaly. Very little is know about them (correct me if I'm wrong) besides the fact that they are weird strange stalkers that prefer to keep to themselves and gather knowledge about the zone. Like some chaotic neutral clear sky, perhaps?

Nice video man, controllers are one of my favorites creatures in the game. Since as far as I can tell they are truly unique to the stalker franchise and they kind of remind me of something that would have been seen in the suffering or the old Silent hill franchise.
Yeah dude, they are one of the more unique mutants out there. Same with burers for me. They just have that unnatural look to them.

Controllers are the “things” I fear the most within the zone. I’ve only encountered them twice in person. Once from afar. The scone in a tunnel system. The first was fine, just a bit spooky. The second scared me. My group I ended up with all died apart from myself and one other scientist type.
Very much remind me of the sinister Advisors for Half-Life 2.
But then, these 2 seires are total classics in their fields: one the action-packed tightly wound story adventure and this one; the big and bold vast Open outdoor scene.
@ 0:18 Nope. I have seen one in Darkscape not far from Rookie Village in Cordon. It was casually walking in daylight with a few zombies.

Rare mutant my damn ass! I have delte with 5 fucking controllers and not the scripted ones, the random spawns, 5 fucking controllers and not even close to the end of call of pripyat and I was playing ROOKIE because I was new to S.T.A.L.K.E.R so they ain't rare in my opinion. (playing on normal now)

I was walking back towards Yanov Station and I was in eyeshot of it when I spot a bloodsucker walking towards camp. I begin to sneak up behind it but I lose sight of it as it walks into tall grass + its night. As I clear through the grass a CONTROLLER appeared right infront of me wtf? I ran back looking for the nearest cover withstanding two psionic blasts. I peek around a tree and watch as he easily kills the bloodsucker I was tailing
