You forgot to mention, that the 4th Horseman can easily slay an ArcBlade or Radiance. Even in close quarters it can quickly annihilate a titan in transition of Fist of Havoc.
This Boomstick is a Mini-Boss' nightmare. One complete burst can take out Fallen Ogres, Cabal Colossi, Vex Gatelords...hell, I've crippled Psion Flayers with this masterpiece. DEFINITELY useful for PVE.
kind of funny when you were talking about the last shot in the magazine dealing more damage and the guy in the video missing that last shot just as you finished talking bout it lol
*Post-Patch Exotic 4th Horseman Review:* planetdestiny.com/4th-horseman-review The 4th Horseman has finally been patched to its original purpose, and is now defined by it, for better or for worse. In PvE, The 4th Horseman represents the pinnacle of burst damage in CQB, but suffers in almost every other category for it. Its Impact is not high enough to offset the fact that it has the worst Range and Reload Speed of any Shotgun available, but the 100% PvE damage buff helps to mask this obvious downside in most PvE encounters. In PvP, you'd be doing yourself a disservice taking this Exotic weapon over any other, as it simply has no place among the other Shotgun variants that are available. Still, we're left with a weapon that is a joy to use in certain PvE contexts and looks incredibly cool while doing it. If you pick one up, we'd level it just for fun; there's lots to be had.
I agree with you in most aspects, but I picture the 4th Horseman to be a weapon only used to suck the life out of yellow-bar foes rather than tier-one enemies. The ammo problem can probably be lessened when using as described.
Ege Eraslan If u actually hit the target, which with the 4th horseman, is hard! The invective's stability however, makes it so much easier to keep ur shots on target!
Well sir i have news for you... wait your right on all standards. i just have fun reking arc blades and then receiving the hate. Also that fist of panic shit is no use the bubble absorbs or you kill them in the flight it is fucking insane.
Fun Fact: In the Alpha of this gun the last perk was called Barrel of Barrels and the perk made firing all 4 barrels of the gun at once so the gun was actually a two shot gun. So the first shot was a deadly shot as it fired 4 shotgun rounds while having one more in the chamber which final round helps.
brought this into Skolas's Revenge... Boy did it help. It is so nice to be able to completely decimate any level 35 reaver captains that rush your team.
Got this a month ago ... maybe not the most practical gun in the game due to the limited range, but definitely one of the most fun to use due to its ridiculous fire rate ... yellow bar enemies just melt in front of you when it's leveled to 365! Plus the sound and the cosmetics of this thing are extremely satisfying. Sometimes you are just waiting for the next major enemy to unload this thing in their face! It's a masterpiece! 10/10 fun factor!
Nice video bro! A remedy for the 4th horseman eating ammo and have a long reload speed in pvp is just allowing the clip to fill up with only 2 or 3 shots. This conserves ammo per engagement and still manages to decrease reload time. Only issue is its only effective against one guardian, clutch encounters etc. Happy 420 haha!
This gun has the fun factor that a lot of others don't have. It may not be the gun for an ideal setup...but it sure is a lot more fun! Sure...other exotics like Gjallarhorn are much more effective, but when you just want to get up in something's face and have a blast (pun intended), no other gun compares. I really enjoy it for a change of pace. This gun is fantastic for pure enjoyment!
I feel like the best way to buff this weapon would be to lower its magazine count to 4, but give it its own perk that combines final round with the whos next perk. after that a decent increase to its reserve ammo would make this weapon awesome.
I have a secret handshake w/ full auto, hammer forged, and field choke. It's essentially better than the horse in every category other than impact (and it only edges out a little bit). Higher ROF, higher range, and a larger mag lol.
+Planet Destiny it's totally fine and now since its been back to its original form from the beginning I use it almost all the time. For example this nightfall it is currently for taking out the captains
some can say that the 4th Horsemen is weak even after the patch ( and especially since the special ammo change) but to me it does what its meant to do best, unleash hell in a fraction of a sec. It might be in the niche category but you'll wish u have the 4th horseman equipped when a blade dancer or a sunsinger are in ur face. The amount of satisfaction you'll get for denying there supers just makes this gun shine as if its saying," ya. I just did that, Come at me Bro!"
This gun has a highly specialized purpose. Kill big target really fast with -4 shits given. Maybe also shred a group if the big target is MIA. I have seen this thing instantly put down praetorians. And imagine arc burn with it, unlimited power for the the wielder for 5 shots at least.
So if the last round in the magazine does bonus damage, and you reload your shotgun one shell at a time... Could you theoretically trigger that bonus damage every time by loading one shell in, firing it, and repeating the process? I suppose then, the 4th Horseman wouldn't be used for its intended purpose...
Darth Raven Currently my favorite shotgun over invective and swordbreaker. Honestly I havent had any issues with range, as i have always treated it as an "all-in" weapon and using any range is not on my mind when i pull this gun out.Havent tried it in pvp so i will use caution given PD's review
Fun fact: In the Grimoire it is said that this gun was designed to hunt the Cabal, but the point is, beside that One Arc Psion Flayer, none of the Cabal has Arc shield.
Unless its a sniper rifle, I use my secondary weapons very sparingly. I think this gun was designed to be a Trump Card weapon when in a pinch. I've found it great for clearing out clusters of enemies or when they bottleneck in a narrow corridor. As for bosses, it makes them hit the floor faster then a prom dress.
Coiled Hiss 1919 Review... This thing has become relevant in PVP arenas.. specially with some who have different perk roles... The gun becomes a whole different animal.
I use it in arc burn nightfalls with my hunter as an assassination weapon. Killing majors is the most important part about the fight and the horseman does it better than any other weapon, simply because it maximizes escape time.
I actually quite enjoy this in PVP for hectic up close scenarios like securing a B flag in control or defending a relic in salvage because you can just dump your ammo on people so fast
Thinking about it, I think the 4th Horseman is good with a Gunslinger, with the right perks. Using "Gunslinger's Trance" (Increases Stability per precision kill, stacks up to 3 times) and "Chain of Woe" (Increases Reload speed per precision kill, stacks up to 3 times) should make this weapon a better fit, and you'll only need to fix the range. -If you're good at getting headshots is still a thing though.-
They should put spray and play as the first perk, and crowd control for damage, or final round speeds up reload to double stack the reload speed.. That would be epic.
Is by far my favorite exotic. I agree with you, its unbelievably fun, and the highest dps, but only for a second. I have two, and is in my universal load out. Waiting for my third, and my clan "Defend The Ghost" knows me for using it all the time, even if it is not ideal. I am just truly in love with the stats (even the bad impact/range doesn't bother me) and the looks/sound are so sexy
that gate lord melted in less than a second. well, that return to sender perk should get change to something like "40% probably to refill the entire clip upon melting target"
This gun is what a shotgun should be In pvp it's for CLOSE quarter combat (not felwinter sniping) with high risk high reward and in pve it's only purpose is to finish off yellow bar enemies quickly and then you swap to your primary again
They should just called this thing the Boss Basher. From the above video it looks like getting up close can dispatch any campaign boss in seconds. I'm on XB1, maybe I'll get lucky and grab this in the fall.
The Fourth Horseman is a powerful tool, but one that shouldn't be taken lightly. I agree 100% that the shotgun is fun to use, but I disagree that it is just in PVE. The Fourth Horseman is an under appreciated jackhammer that truly puts the Laughter back in Slaughter, no matter where you whip it out. Honestly, it's abysmal range and impact in the Crucible make it pretty intense to use. I would be far from the truth if I did not admit that every kill achieved in Crucible left my blood pumping, and my heart racing with adrenaline. It. Is. A thrill to use. While it isn't easy, when paired with a sturdy Hand Cannon, such as TFWPKY, Devil You Don't, or Red Hand IX to cover the mid to long ranges, I have found that Fourth Horseman can be quite devastating. Armed on a Hunter or Warlock with Blink, this is possibly the only shotgun that can be awarded a praise for a successful blink-blast. My verdict on Fourth Horseman is that it is definitely worth playing with. In PVE it is satisfying to be so ungodly powerful, if at the cost of a little bit of extra resource management. In PVP, though, I get a sadistic glee out of getting kills with what, I am sure, is the single-worst shotgun in Destiny. I have only had this weapon for less than 24 hours prior to writing this comment, and I have spent every minute of it's use laughing like a lunatic while plugging lead into my opponents' faces from kissing distance. This weapon is a toy, but a toy that kicks some serious ass and drags out the Joker in all of us.
so I got dry rot 32 with full auto and speed reload. It's like a slightly slower fourth horseman, but with more range, impact, and a higher magazine size.
To be honest I really like it in PVP. It has come in clutch for me especially in scenarios where a fist of havoc is about to murder me and I can quickly put a lot of damage down on that guy and survive.
In Mr. Fruits video review on it, 4th Horseman appears to be an extremely good Anti-Bladedancer panic button. Takes a whole clip of course but stops them before they can get to you.
ABatterysLife If you happen to see a Bladedancer coming while using his Super, which *may* happen once per game, then sure it can be a good defense for it.
I think that they should take out Return to Sender and have a exotic perk called "The Fourth Horseman" "A kill with the 4th round in the magazine will grant a increase to damage and stability on the next shot." This would have really good synergy with Final Round and it would be balanced for things like bosses because it's not like that would be very helpful on bullet sponges.
ipdnaeip Or give it a form of glass half full similar to Suros in which the damage would increase significantly as the magazine decreased, further enhancing its role as a CQB powerhouse.
If they buffed the range on this gun it'd fix everything honestly, it's great for DPS but I have to sacrifice Hand Loaded for Speed Reload because of how slow it reloads.
I'm not going to lie i really think this was the only good exotic weapon i've used in a while it feels like something fresh and decimates any foe i have ran into in my opinion i love it titan trying to fist of panic no problem just whip out the 4th horseman and he ends up dead on the floor or he/her body flying half way across the room
I think it holds one niche in PvP, and that's pretty much the same one as PvE: It kills even the toughest of targets instantly. I have not seen someone use Felwinter's Lie to enter an Armor of Light Bubble and win. I have seen the 4th Horseman do it. Generally speaking, your enemies will not have bubble/radiance/arc blade permanently active, and you won't hunt enemies all game with 4th Horseman. However, the issue with using an exotic secondary in PvP is that you give up an exotic primary. So you're essentially dedicating a slot to try and ensure that you ruin an enemy's day. It's kinda like a trap card. I haven't got it so I assume it's up to the player to decide.
Hey planet destiny I first want to say I'm a big fan but that's not why I'm here talking to you about. I figured out a really nice Way of bypassing the painful reload time of this gun. I know this is not a answer for the gun's problems but if used this way you can have a better time with the gun In pve. I used the defender classes fast reload along with no backup plans to completely bypass the low reload time and use the fourth horseman to the best of its ability. Also I increase the strength to maximum to make my Force barrierstronger so I can take more punishment at close range. What I find is that if the fourth horseman does not kill the main targets with the first clip then I melee them get my force field and reload the gun in a record time. This allows me to be a tank that goes straight for the strongest ads and uses the lower tier 1s for a quick force barrier reload. Because of the patch the fourth Horseman is in my opinion a more reliable Gally. Doing insane amounts of damage at close Range
I just got this gun from the prison of elders chest and I used it on enemy blade dancers in crucible and it wreaked every blade dancer in my way I would give this gun a 7 out of 10
Its still good for strikes or anything with lots of health It melts walkers (exposed engine or not), vex minds, knights or ogres, captains or anything Regicide, boi I ran through that with 4th Horseman, Baxx, Ta'aun, n oryx dead and I even went solo Just the stability, that got me sometimes
Invective has a really slow reload, but that's still good. My conspiracy theory - D is built on range and impact, and it is a beast in pvp. One hit up to almost felwinters lie range. But I always get taken out by the fourth horseman. Nothing can stand up to it unless you have the lord of the wolves, because it puts 5 rounds into you and you'll die. Mean whe crouch behind cover to reload. It's easy
The 4th Holtzmann
Lol
dagoxo7arius I like it.
dagoxo7arius Genuis
I see what you did there ;D

Fallen ogres...really?
Wafrie01 Tier 1, not Tier 2.
I hate those hive captains and can't stand Fallen ogres. I get pissed off at Valus, the son of crota, times conflux the dreg
***** Sorry, keep getting the Fallen & the Hive mixed up.
I HAZ A POTATO - Destiny Videos! Fucking lmao
kind of funny when you were talking about the last shot in the magazine dealing more damage and the guy in the video missing that last shot just as you finished talking bout it lol
If Return to Sender worked 100% of the time, then I think this shotgun would be a lot more with it.
*Post-Patch Exotic 4th Horseman Review:* planetdestiny.com/4th-horseman-review

PlanetDestiny R8 8/8 M8, NO DB8 M8. 8/8 GR8 GUN M8 - IGN
Narwalrus900 Indeed, this was mentioned in the video
PlanetDestiny did u all ever finish comparing the vog and crota raid weapons ?
This gun is the best arc blade counter I tell ya!
You have no idea. Pair this with helm of saint 14
Ege Eraslan Invective, easily over 4th horseman!
MaxTheFun1995 not for arc blade users. 4th horseman's rate of fire demolishes arc blade users.
What would you say needs to be done to make the 4th Horseman to make it a "good" or better shotgun that is worth being called an exotic?
Fun Fact: In the Alpha of this gun the last perk was called Barrel of Barrels and the perk made firing all 4 barrels of the gun at once so the gun was actually a two shot gun. This gun has the fun factor that a lot of others don't have. It may not be the gun for an ideal setup...but it sure is a lot more fun! My favorite thing in the game now is jumping on top of a colossus/hydra and just unloading the clip onto their head
I like how you didn't say abysmal this time it makes you sound fresh
Abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal abysmal
That was a truly abysmal joke. ^
No the way he says it is abysmal

I love this in PvP! I'll hide behind a corner, and poke my head out. Someone will come around the corner, and... BOOM! It's so much fun!
would love to see how it stacks up now in 2017 . I got mine awhile ago . I'm hoping its an awesome weapon
+Planet Destiny it's totally fine and now since its been back to its original form from the beginning I use it almost all the time. For example this nightfall it is currently for taking out the captains
This is that one weapon that still eludes me... along with thunderlord

Love all your vids. Keep on going with all of this.
I once saw the 4th Horseman take out a Bladedancer with full health at breathing distance.
What would you consider the better. This, or a dry rot with full auto?
This gun has a highly specialized purpose. Kill big target really fast with -4 shits given. Maybe also shred a group if the big target is MIA. I have seen this thing instantly put down praetorians. And imagine arc burn with it, unlimited power for the the wielder for 5 shots at least.

Could you theoretically trigger that bonus damage every time by loading one shell in, firing it, and repeating the process?
I suppose then, the 4th Horseman wouldn't be used for its intended purpose...
Jonathan Backo it doesn't have the necessary impact for it. you wouldn't kill in one shot.
Perfect breakdown of the forth horsemen
Darth Raven Glad you enjoyed it!
Darth Raven Currently my favorite shotgun over invective and swordbreaker. Honestly I havent had any issues with range, as i have always treated it as an "all-in" weapon and using any range is not on my mind when i pull this gun out.Havent tried it in pvp so i will use caution given PD's review
Fun fact: In the Grimoire it is said that this gun was designed to hunt the Cabal, but the point is, beside that One Arc Psion Flayer, none of the Cabal has Arc shield.
lvl 32 prison of elders 4th round boss he can change his shields to arc and hes cabal
this post was said before HoW came out...
Where is the year 2 review of this gun
I get this feeling that this gun has the hair trigger hidden perk.
"And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death"
I've been looking for this comment
oh yeah and darksiders 2 ftw!
Coiled Hiss 1919 Review... This thing has become relevant in PVP arenas.. specially with some who have different perk roles... The gun becomes a whole different animal.
This thing melts a nightfall boss with Specialist and Arc Burn modifiers.
I use it in arc burn nightfalls with my hunter as an assassination weapon. Killing majors is the most important part about the fight and the horseman does it better than any other weapon, simply because it maximizes escape time.
Glad to hear you sounding well again Holtzmann.
I love all Planet Destiny videos especially weapon or comparison reviews keep up the good work! 👍
-If you're good at getting headshots is still a thing though.-
Thank you! Some one gets it
It is not the pinnacle of burst damage close but not cigar invective still out shines it the impact and range still make it stronger
They should put spray and play as the first perk, and crowd control for damage, or final round speeds up reload to double stack the reload speed..
That would be epic.
I still want this gun. You can load it a bit faster with a special weapon loader perk on a armor
I'm surprised as to how quickly it can drain a large chunk of health off of a yellow bared boss.
that gate lord melted in less than a second. well, that return to sender perk should get change to something like "40% probably to refill the entire clip upon melting target"
This was the first exotic year 2 weapon
just got mine today on nightfall. and use it in ironbanner oh my god amazing gun
same
This gun is what a shotgun should be
In pvp it's for CLOSE quarter combat (not felwinter sniping) with high risk high reward
and in pve it's only purpose is to finish off yellow bar enemies quickly and then you swap to your primary again
What's the name of the song playing when the video began?
Just wondering, we're you using any of the exotic or Crota gauntlets bc they both have increased reload speed to special weapons
Keary Johnson I did, but they didn't have any upgrades leveled.
Ahh I gotcha
They should just called this thing the Boss Basher. From the above video it looks like getting up close can dispatch any campaign boss in seconds. I'm on XB1, maybe I'll get lucky and grab this in the fall.
It is really fun to mess around with this gun in PvE, but I definitely agree with Patrick that almost any other shotgun would be better in general :P
Sooooo... Basically its a jakobs shotgun...?
The Fourth Horseman is a powerful tool, but one that shouldn't be taken lightly. I agree 100% that the shotgun is fun to use, but I disagree that it is just in PVE. i just got it from a vanguard drop..your video was very informative.it is fun.but not my first choice by far.great vid
Do you have a a channel of your own like the other Planet Destiny uploaders ?
Yep.
I think return to sender should have a higher chance to activate on the 4th horseman or give 2 rounds instead of 1.
ipdnaeip Or give it a form of glass half full similar to Suros in which the damage would increase significantly as the magazine decreased, further enhancing its role as a CQB powerhouse.
does this gun have the ability to be infused with stronger weapons to increase its damage???
+Kyle Murray Yup, it does.
This is actually good with the right gunslinger build
+Sassy The Sasquatch how come? why is that? what would gunslinger build be a good combo?
+Kevin Moreal because of chain of woe and the one that increases stability
+Sassy The Sasquatch true but those require pricision kills which would be very unlikely unless sniping from across map
+Kevin Moreal you can either have a scout rifle or something on or just go up close.
+Kevin Moreal just to clarify I haven't used that setup in pvp
If they buffed the range on this gun it'd fix everything honestly, it's great for DPS but I have to sacrifice Hand Loaded for Speed Reload because of how slow it reloads.
song at 9:30?
Wits the best legendary shotgun in your own opinion?
Bungie should give 4th horseman feeding frenzy
I'm not going to lie i really think this was the only good exotic weapon i've used in a while it feels like something fresh and decimates any foe i have ran into in my opinion i love it titan trying to fist of panic no problem just whip out the 4th horseman and he ends up dead on the floor or he/her body flying half way across the room
I'm looking forward to getting to get this on Xbox... I love shotguns in most every game... No different for Destiny!
Can't wait to get this on Xbox when taken king comes out. Anybody know if there is a year 2 version?
I think it holds one niche in PvP, and that's pretty much the same one as PvE: It kills even the toughest of targets instantly. Hey planet destiny I first want to say I'm a big fan but that's not why I'm here talking to you about. I figured out a really nice Way of bypassing the painful reload time of this gun.
If you couple this shotgun with the invisibility of a Hunter this shotgun is amazing.
The stray nova bomb at 5:45
I base myself on getting up close and personal. Helps with Striker subclass in year 2.
+Pi Box Perfect for rift.
Will you be doing a breakdown of the reef social hub tomorrow?
223Drone Yes, it'll be discussed on the podcast as well
PlanetDestiny Cheers looking forward to it.
Hm would this work agianst golgoroth?
I'm sorry, I didn't catch it's patch. What was the patch?
Man, /k/ would have a field day with this one.
For real what nae is of the background song ?
Gotta get those jumps when you shoot!
I just got this gun from the prison of elders chest and I used it on enemy blade dancers in crucible and it wreaked every blade dancer in my way I would give this gun a 7 out of 10
Its still good for strikes or anything with lots of health
It melts walkers (exposed engine or not), vex minds, knights or ogres, captains or anything
Regicide, boi I ran through that with 4th Horseman, Baxx, Ta'aun, n oryx dead and I even went solo
Just the stability, that got me sometimes
PLEASE do more v.2 weapon reviews! I love these videos, more so than any of the other content you upload.
It's easy
Alright. . . can they please fix No Land Beyond now? and, no offense to 4th Horseman, but could it be patched just a little more substantially?
You should use surge on your voidwalker melee to speed up reload
Is it possible to kill omnigul in the non strike mission she's in?
Sammy Fox Yeah. If you hose her down hard enough she dies, but she pops up in the room and the mission keeps going.
Oh. Thx
I got thunderlord in crucible the other day, is it really that good?
It's amazing
l Cdhaldane l It's very fun to use: th-cam.com/video/qqa6Mw3YHec/w-d-xo.html
