I have a pair of Doc M 8761's, where they creased, and after like 5 years of usage, they eventually got a tear on the crease just like the video. I retired them and bought another pair. 4 years later, I got the same problem. I was going to try and find another pair, and I came across this video! Thank you!
Question: I'm something like a Doc Martens Expert. I found out that the top layer of most of the Doc Martens is a mixture of tiny leather fibers, plastic and the color. Also on the new Made in England Martens they use this mixture. (But it differs a bit on the made in england) So my expensive Made in Uk Martens cracked after a year. In my opinion they crack because the leather conditioner or whatever you use doesn't get through to the actual leather. It only gets to the real leather if there is already a crack in the leather. I don't know if i am right about this but for me it seems logical. So you sand down the top layer which makes conditioning the leather actually useful. Nice! Don't you think it would be a good idea to sand down the top layer of newly bought doc martens boots so you can condition them? (i know its not something the average doc martens buyer would do) In theory they should last longer. Whats your opinion on this ?
You could use acetone to remove the finish off the leather. If the leather on the inside of the boots is the same color as the exterior, you won't even need to due the leather afterwards. If the inside is a different color, you can take them to a cobbler and have the dyed. They will give you various color options.
Hello, my friend! Of course, I'll definitely make more videos about this and I'll tell what products I use as I get a pair of Martens for restoration. Just keep track of this channel! Love you ! And thank you a million!
Hello! Thank you for your question! The conditioner is saphir Renovateur and the shoe polish - Pigment cream ( the new one is called creme 1925) by saphir
Did he use rubbing paper 🤔 I've never heard out that or was it sand paper tearing off a small piece ... If so probally like 1000 grit possibly just to fix it
Hello! Yeah , it'll help for some time, but the problem can appear anyways. I say "can" because it depends on the leather of the boots. Thank you a million for question and I do apologise about such a late answer !
Good afternoon, my friend. Thanks a million for your question! You can find them anywhere. Try Ebay or Amazon. Search for shoe trees, just choose the right size :) I would recommend buying ones made of cedar.

try solovair, much better quality
In my humble opinion, the creases are all part of the charm of the Docs. Because those creases are your own. Gently maintain the boot.
Not until it cracked😢
I just use Saphir Mirror Gloss
and I polish it very well with a brush (doesn't break or tear)
This is the first time I’ve heard of rubber paper, is it used specifically for shoe repair? Is it like sand paper?
Happy New Year! I mistook a little bit. I intended to say sandpaper! Sorry about that !
@@yourdavidshoes1365 oh brilliant. Thank you!

This sounds so logical!!
That actually makes a lot of sense. Just need someone rich enough to test it hahaha

With God's help, my brother! Thanks, love you
Are they creasing and cracking so bad because they're bootleg? Those aren't docs, or Solovairs.

Hello! Yes, I've misspelled , pardon
I would recommend 400-600 grid cause it may take too long to work with really very bad creases
I was just thinking about this too…it’s sand paper. Thank you for asking✌️
Well done indeed
Thank you , my man
Love you
Why does conditioning creates more creases?
sorry if i replied 2 years after, i suppoe its because the leather is more moisturized thus making it stretchy
Creases lessened beacauss of the shoe tree and not because you cleaned and shined it.
I have creases on my brand new Dr matens 2024, is this normal?
how and where did you get dr martens with black soles.
Did this and my docs are matt af and I can't get it to shine anymore no matter what oil I use :(
I think ill just let the creases 😅😅
Do these tips still apply to vegan doc martens?

Какая гритность наждачки?
Я бы посоветовал 400, она, вообще, для полировки, но лучше вы посидите подольше и потрете, чем повредите обувь.

Waste of time
There’s no other way to fix it. Only if you change the whole part of the boot.
