This event had *so* many variant covers & even additional printings that I can't even remember everything about it, the box I have all the single issues in is like a Lovecraftian, forbidden, sealed container in a dark corner of one of our closets 😆 I think we need this omni.
Its ok not to layout the omnis with the in between issues if you just want to read the story straight through but i wish the would put a reading order page in there so if u want to read it in order you dont have to search online to find it
This is a must-buy, in my opinion, as I love big event omnis. It is a bit confusing having the Venomnibus by Cates & Stegman coming out at the same time with a fair bit of double-dipping, but I think the King in Black Omni will be enough for me on its own. Thanks for the suggestions of potential different reading order for some of the content, which I will try to do when I jump into my copy!
I don't mind events having the tie ins split out... but the book needs to be indexed, and include a recommended reading order, so people can choose to follow it or not. I read the entire events as it came out, so feel.I followed the event in real time and a second reading, I'd probably read run by run, if that makes sense.
I have Cates entire run in my 3 OHC's apart from KIB. I really love this run, one of Venom's best. I don't like the way they mapped this omni at all. Would I be ok just in picking up the treade and skipping all of the additional tie ins Omar?
Yeah you'd be fine, the only tie-ins I read were the Venom issues, cause I was reading the run in the build-up to this event at the time. Those are the additional issues I would recommend reading, like Omar mentions. You technically don't have to if you don't want to, but I enjoyed the way they enriched the story, and Eddie's journey within it.
Really wanted to get both but had to go with the cates venomnibus and i have never read that run so hopefully if its that good and king in black is still available then i mi go t get it as always omar great video!
Do we know if the Venomibus by Donny Cates will have issues organized by release, or will it resemble an event omnibus mapping like this (grouping the events separately from the main issues)?

Loved this whole cates run - venom - absolute carnage and King in black - it brought back excitement to weekly comics … unfortunately too much fill in material lessened the impact

Hey Omar, do you know what date the FF by John Byrne vol.2 is expected to release? It says on Amazon January but I've seen on a website called forbidden planet that it will be released on the 22nd of December 2022. So which is right?
Just in case Omar doesn't answer, recently, I have found that the later date is probably going to be the right one and that the smaller site doesn't update new release dates as quickly as Amazon. But Omar, may correct me and hopefully he does!

For a book this big Imak seem to have done a very good job on the build. The USD price tag makes this an expensive buy for overseas readers so I think I’ll put my money towards the Priest Black Panther omni. While Marvel are pumping out these books it’s nice to have variety to choose from!
When you said "The Avengers, including my BOY there...!" I thought it would be Black Knight instead of Living Lightning, lol. Anyway, is this Omni worth it? I've never read the event, but I kinda hate it when things are mapped like this. Thoughts, anyone?
If anything I would recommend just getting the Venomnibus collecting this event and the Venom issues, those are the only two series you need for this that are essential. I'm sure there's some fun stuff in there (I only read the Wiccan & Hulking issue in terms of other tie-ins) but yeah especially with the mapping unless you really want that whole thing, just get the Venomnibus.

This king in black printing seems more sharper or vibrant than the Venomnibus version. Anyone else can confirm this? Or did they just remove the venom old paper stains texture?
how is this book already sold out i checked online bookstores in my country because its released today and it already says sold out what did marvel do,print like only 6 omnis or something, cant be a big print of books. this is so annoying as a collector who cant get the books the same day as they release. and like i said this is the day of the book released
So disappointed with the mapping. I was waiting for this Omni for nearly a year, but the mapping is exactly HOW NOT TO map an Event omnibus. If we wanted to read all the overlapping runs separately, or not at all, then (1) wouldn't we buy the different collections? (2) if any issues are unrelated to the Event storyline, why even include it? IMO Marvel has just stuffed this with issues to justify a steep price hike and match DC omnis. But They still need to learn event mapping from DC. Hard Pass for me. Might need to consider the Venomnibus
@@SunGymLive you miss all the tie ins to King in Black that aren’t Venom focused. But it’s properly mapped out and you also gain the rest of the Venom run that King in Black is the conclusion for.

Events have to mean something to me, and sadly Marvel like dc, just knock them out to often with very little meaning. That along with the hundreds of useless connecting mini series and hundreds of variants it just makes no sense in collecting or reading it. As for the book, it's a hefty book, and I hope people who like this enjoy it, but for me I had to pass. Gwenom & BC were the closest I got to the event and since these stories will, be or should be in those omni's in 2023, I catch up with them then.
I wish they would stop mapping omnibuses like this. If we wanted to read a mini or event on its own, we would just buy the trade. This always feels like laziness more than anything
Look, I realize this channel tries to be positive about this hobby, but I'm just going to say it at this point - this style of effectively releasing a stack of trade paperbacks with a hardcover spine is exceptionally lazy on the part of the collected editions department. I understand that some of these garbage tie-in mini series are hard to place among the mess that is your mega events, and so I can accept that those get shoved to the back. I don't like it, but I can accept it. But the issues of Venom explicitly fit in-between the main event issues here. If you're releasing a story omnibus, the main story SHOULD be in a proper reading order. These are almost always $150 now - that's a luxury collector's item price level, but it doesn't feel like it... do better guys.
And honest. Which is why I mentioned the mapping. Or the very least put the venom issues between the KIB issues as well as Planet of the Symbiotes. A middle ground would have been nice.
If there was one Omni that I have been looking forward to all year, it was this. But the mapping has made it a hard Pass. Too lazy and taking readers for granted.
