Love this movie and soundtrack. I saw this film in 1984 at the flicks. I have the DVD and if I could, I would have the soundtrack CD. Thanks for sharing. “Navy owes me 40 years back pay” Great line.

    "New year, new me"... right?
When "The Final Countdown" was released in 1980, it received much success, critically as from audiences worldwide. It had a great cast, such as Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen, a great plot and a musical score by John Scott, which was on point.
"The Philadelphia Experiment" surely wanted to step in ‘Countdown's’ footsteps: This time no aircraft carrier, which gets teleported into the past, but members of a destroyer, that get teleported to the future. While the plot wanted to offer more of everything than ‘Countdown’, it naturally had more flaws, which make it not necessarily a bad movie, of course.
The musical contribution by Ken(neth) Wannberg is very dashing in every way. The longtime music editor of many great film composer, best known for his countless works for John Williams, was asked to score ‘Philadelphia’ because of exactly that (and as a cheaper alternative to those major composers). The result was surely what the producers expected: The composer’s score is catchy, colorful and very mature, with a wonderful load of great(ly orchestrated) themes. About his part-time job as a film composer Wannberg said: “You just go in and if you’re any kind of musician, you can switch from a love theme to a horror motif. Music is music. You should be able to do it all, and most composers can.” Ken, you showed us!
Wishing you a happy and healthy new year to all of you!

The movie suffered from a low budget, and unreasonable expectations because of the true story it was supposedly based on. I like it. The acting is solid; the effects are passable; the story is good; the score is classic. I can see John Carpenter’s footprint here.

Thank for jarring my my memory...... This flick had the dashing Nancy Allen and Eric Christmas in it. It
wasn't a bad movie....... Sadly the music from this movie didn't stick with me over the years. the Music is OK. How about Wing Commander??? The best thing you can say about Wing Commander is its soundtrack.

      Hello Jace,
thinking of Wannberg I had other scores in mind. Nevertheless it will take some while until we feature another work of the composer but if you like I will keep those in mind! :-)
