- I make a large contact wheel for my 2x72 belt grinder that I recently made. i make this wheel out of MDF I had laying around. The size I chose is 20cm or 8" because it is suposedly the best allrounder for belt grinder contact wheels. I copied John heisz for the wheel construction. His Belt grinder series: • Wooden 2 X 72 Belt Gri...

Love the use of wood have made several belt machines now all using wood for the frames and the contact wheels. Must do a video of mine sometime, I splice my belts and cover the wooden wheels with rubber, gives a smoother finish and is cheap to make, brilliant video have subscribed to your
I love it! I recognize that black MDF anywhere! I never. Would have thought to make a 2 x 72 out of it. But I work mostly with metal so my brain is a little blind when it come to wood. Awesome job and excellent use what you got skills keep up the good work!
Tom Wyrick, thanks man! The grinder itself is made out of plywood, the extenions pine 2x2 and the wheels mdf. I would love a nice metal one like the real kmg's. But like you said I used what I had and it works pretty damn good actually :D! Thanks for watching!! 👊👊
Wow! 6:22 This is straight out the grinder? What grit was that? Sharp! :D
Oh yes pretty sharp! :) I think it was 400 grit. I did use the top slack part as a strop with no pressure and the machine turned off. That seems to work good for a quick sharpening. Thanks for watching my friend! 👍
Yeah definitely! :) Good Job!
I shudder at people grinding knives on belt with edge up.Isn't it dangerous?
Also is there video of the grinder build?? I would love to see it!
Hi Tom. No I'm sorry there is no video.. I had a loose idea on how to make it and made it in one saturday afternoon. Halfway through the build I started regretting me not filming it as it was actually looking promising lol. If I ever make a new one I'll film it for sure! Thanks for watching.
This is nice. I need to make some new contact wheels.
Thanks for watching! Yeah these mdf wheels actually seem to be pretty durable and super cheap, good luck!
I ordered (10) 6201 bearings for cheap off ebay, im going to make a few sizes and replace all my wheels.
I used cheap 6201 bearings from ebay as well, worked out great!
GREAT VIDEO
That was great, now i make mine thankyou
Buster buster Good luck!
Should be great for hollow grinding a razor 😃😃
For sure! Altough I would need to make a new one. This one is a bit wobbly :s
Two things your workshop needs, lighting and a hacksaw. Was that really what I saw, you changed a blade to cut through a small section of stud iron? What a waste of time.
+Peter Gregory got plenty of hacksaws. Lighting is a must for sure!
Frankly, it looks more like a war zone than a workshop.
lol.
Your camera work has to improve. I am getting dizzy.
Yes, just bought a new camera. Thanks for watching.
GREAT VIDEO
Thanks!
