My stepfather and I worked for Red Lobster. I worked there for a few years during college and he worked for the company for 41 years. He managed locations, opened up new restaurants and took care of everything. Red Lobster put him through hell the last two years. They cut his hours, micromanaged him and just pushed him aside. A lawyer representing Red Lobster stated the company wanted him to retire and he would be paid $5,000 as a settlement. After 40 years $5,000 is all you are worth? Eventually, my stepdad just retired without their settlement. A big slap in the face. Well, karma comes back to haunt Red Lobster. Shame on you!
👍👍👍🐧🍎🍏💙
Unfortunately that is how big corporations treat their employees, forget loyalty. I had the same treatment with a company, saw the writing on the wall but left and went on to another much better company that treated their employees like they cared, I retired from them in 2021. Those two companies were Winn Dixie 1995-2003 and Publix 2003-2021. Now, we know who has sold out and who is thriving.
Sadly it’s only business on how they treat their employees. Most times on how they handle individuals workers is a reflection of their financial situations n what’s to come. At least that’s what history has taught me…
He would receive a pension from them. They didn't want to pay it. Now they never will
My parents went to Red Lobster for Mother's Day because they figured locations were closing. One last time for cheddar biscuits
🤣no doubt!
They sell the biscuit mix at the store. Red Lobster brand
@@susannpatton2893 yes!
Smart move!
Three out of the four Red Lobsters in the western New York/Buffalo area are closed now. There is one left and they are telling people if they have a gift card that they need to use it fast before it is worthless.
There is one ... not their
@@vulcan2882 thank you for catching that, I corrected it.
What a lot of people don’t know is, if you receive a gift card for Red Lobster they can also be used at any Darden restaurant such as Olive Garden. Speaking from experience.
@@mysterymayhem7020 ... I've done that too myself. Spell check has sometimes changed it ... I got rid of spell check.
@@2Kriss2Kross red lobster has not been a part of Darden for about 7-8 years , but maybe they still honor them? I doubt it at this point.
As I am typing this, I am looking at a Darden gift card. Red lobster is not listed.
Cheddar biscuits 😭😭😭
They sell them at Walmart. Just as good!
I missed the all you can eat for $20!!!
@@UnkonwnProPlaysno they don’t taste the same but I guess they’ll do if you can’t get them from the main restaurant
@mustafahameed7056 its a mix like bisquick 😂
There's tons of great mock recipes online for those. :)
I love seafood but the last couple times I was there the quality didn't exist. They were in trouble before any food deal they are trying to blame.
Their troubles began 9 years ago.
I haven't been to one in like 10 years and even then it was sub par food.
So sad. Loved their Shrimp.
And feel bad for the Employees. 😂
just wait it'll get worse!
Cut it out! "Endless Shrimp" is NOT putting Red Lobster out of business. The fact that they are no longer the only gig in town when it comes to seafood is! A gazillion other seafood restaurants have popped up since the Pandemic IS their issue. Nearly every large city has a new version of a seafood restaurant such as Juicy Crab which is major here in Georgia. Even Mom & Pop seafood restaurants have eaten into Red Lobsters market share. That's the REAL deal with their woes.
I live 90 min from FL beaches and I can tell you local seafood places are much better and will destroy ANY "seafood" chain. I am 67 lived here my whole life and have seen these "seafood" chains come and go. RL sucked in the early 70s, surprised they made it this far. In coastal states RL is a laughingstock.
When you have 10 ton people coming to eat 4 plates of what would normally be 2, yeah. They ate them out of house and home.
@lesliemoore1656 there's isn't an ocean in Wyoming or Nebraska 😂
You are silly
@@susannpatton2893 2 days drive from a coast were the only places where RL actually was successful and that did not last, as we all know. You did not comprehend what I wrote.
Bubba Gump"s?
It's never been a real restaurant. It's a VC investment "opportunity" along with Olive Garden. The same money buys the strip mall in a busy suburb, installs both restaurants next to each other, hires the cheapest labor possible.
It an industry for growing capital, not a kitchen where ppl cook food for each other.
Darden Restaurants is the parent company
Here’s the big question how the hell does all these Chinese restaurants stay afloat, but red lobster is failing🧐
I’ve never been to red lobster so not sure if it’s good or not…..but I think it’s awful they didn’t warn employees, and they found out when they showed up for work and saw the note on their door that they lost their jobs. Have no respect for employees, and would be mad if the same employees didn’t give 2 weeks notice. 😔
This is normal in the restaurant business. Especially large chains. They want to keep employees working through that last day they are open. They don't want to face the employees, so they just put a notice on the door telling people they no longer have jobs. There are signs employees can look for, but that's about it.
@@meansnowflake oh wow. Thats sad.🫤 seems they care more about the money than valuing their employees.
@@xosweetiexpieox5 That's just the reality of working for a publicly traded corporation in America. That bottom line is all that matters. Once you've been in the industry long enough, you will start to recognize the signs.
This restaurant is my dad's favorite restaurant
Your dad is a pig
They charge too much. What did they expect.
You want lobster 🦞 for $5 and unlimited shrimp for dirt cheap, what can they do
@@sjnmhn you said that. Not me
Lemme guess. They lost millions because one diner would order the Endless Shrimp and the other diners at his table would order drinks or cheap apps and eat off of his plate.
Shhhh don’t tell anyone our strategy 🤭
So, the shrimp lovers put Red Lobster out of business?
Yesh
They were in trouble way before this , there quality has gotten so bad that folks go to other establishments. I haven’t been in a red lobster since 2009 and even then it was still disgusting.. They need better management and need to update their menu and put in different recipes or something because you can’t thrive off the same taste for years especially if the quality of it is low
Red Lobster didn't plan on the big and tall and super size stomachs
Regular people may only eat 1 second helping, not 4 helpings per person.
Lobster and crab is too expensive for the masses
There is one 15 minutes from my house that is closing. I think it is the only one in Washington State that will be closing. That food was not worth the post-COVID prices.
Never had any desire to eat there.
Seafood is gross anyways
They shouldn’t advertise “all you can eat shrimp” if they can’t deliver. Me and my gym buddies can clear out about 40-50 plates of shrimp after a workout.
I didn't see Ohio shutting down so we should be good for awhile I hope!😋🦞🍤
Here n NM too. for a while anyways..
Their main clientele is only 13% of the US population
Red lobster was one of the restaurants I luv to go for a casual dining experience. They change their menu like anyother restaurant since the pandemic. To cut costs. These companies are struggling to stay afloat due to rising inflation which is causing companies to go bankrupt today.
When I was little, my klepto great aunt would steal silverware from here and a few other restaurants. I'm sure she'll survive without Red Lobster.
It's been disheartening seeing a lot of popular businesses closing. A big disappointment for me has been the 99 Cent store. That store was a haven when it came to personal needs, sometimes food, decorations, etc. It's so frustrating.
Must be white
Red lobster was good. Now it's nothing but salty process food.
They closed none in Arkansas, though lol. Not gonna lie, for us that is considered a treat and it’s a well-beloved restaurant on our cities. Always crowded. I guess it’s not the same elsewhere.
RIP Red Lobster
😂so they're blaming it on endless shrimp? omg we aren't that dumb.
Are you sure. Super sized people eating more than regular people would. Yes, we have bigger people now than 20 years ago.
@@susannpatton2893This may be a bit random, but I watch professional eating competitions and most of the folks participating say bigger people tend to eat less food. I'm not sure how true this is, but as a bigger person myself I can only eat two plates at any buffet, and they are normal helpings not overflowing. My husband is also large and tends to eat about 3 plates. However my dearest friend cannot keep weight on for anything (around 110lbs) and she'll consume 4-6 plates on average at any buffet.
So perhaps it isn't just the plus sized folks causing it all? I can't honestly be sure, but food for thought maybe.
Have a good day!
@@susannpatton2893 true, but the real answer is more complex than we can ever understand. LOL
Thanks, Brandon
Thai Union Group did this! Should the company have been headed by Floridians like it should have been none of this would have happened. What a waste!
Wow i guess Oregon is lucky according to that map its not high lighting in red 😂😂😂
Troubled Waters is hilarious but an Endless Understatement
"Please, don't take the steam tray!"
Come see Bottomless Pete. Natures cruelest mistake. Come for the freak, stay for the food !
I heard they shaved a gorilla..
They could have had 3 shrimp entreys plus an appetizer for $20
so red lobster has to become a fast food environment without the need for the dining experience if customers dont want to miss out. i personally think we should first question other factors first before we scale this operation.
I don't know why people continue to pay for unhealthy fast food. You can save 70% of your money eating asian food dishes. It is very rare that i buy anything at the store.
We have a very large supply of diverse vegetables and raise fish. We donate 90% of our food to feed those in need and it doesn't cost anything to grow. We have free
solar energy grids and create our own free hydrogen supply. Unlimited free fresh water, power, hydrogen, food, electric vehicles. I don't understand why people work for money like slaves.
Yes i am a millionaire but i live modestly and share 90% of what i have with those who need it. That is how the world suppose to operate. Capitalism is what corrupts the minds
of the people into slavery and oppression over cost of living. We only spend maybe 30 min a day working. Communities help each other without expectation of anything in return.
We help thousands of people every week and it doesn't cost anything. When society stops working for money and just contributes with the skills they enjoy doing life becomes easier.
A true moneyless society sharing and rationing resources to meet the needs of the people. A humanitarian society created without capitalism has no need for money. This is how the
world should be. Technology and automated industries can create and distribute all the basic needs of humanity with very little human workers. People should be thriving in culture and
learning what they are passionate about working a career they love not out of necessity and missing out on life and joy. We waste so much resource on this planet with non essential jobs
just to make money in a competitive economy. Waste of time and causes oppression for the people. Every year over 1 trillion dollars of food is wasted or destroyed. That is about 1.3 billion tons a year.
That is 1/3 of all food supply on the planet gone and you wonder why food is so expensive. 90% of the world is working, driving and stressing for no damn reason just to make money that isn't
really needed. Wake up and realize your all being manipulated by the government, religion and capitalist that control your lives. It is a sad reality but the truth. It won't stop until people
start changing to a better way of life. Honestly i live off less than 30.00 a month with a family of 14 people and i feed over 1000 families every single week for free. My passion
is showing people there is another way of life they are missing out on and it cost nothing to truly live. With proper planning you can do anything you want. It is the governments
that have to change.
All I keep hearing is their “Endless Shrimp” promotion, cause this bankruptcy. Don’t they accountants, that can figure this out after one month, they may be losing money on this deal? Or maybe if it took them 2 months to figure it out. It took them several years? until they filed bankruptcy to finally figure this out?
Hooray.. Robin Roberts just Hope's they don't close popeye's chicken....
Too bad, I love Red Lobster!
Dude, walmart and costco sells for under $10.
Joeflation knows no boundaries! (Even the crustaceans can’t Escape it)
what are you talking about
Does it taste good?
people can't afford to eat out as much with the bad economy ?
Inflation is crippling a lot of businesses that took on too much debt to stay open as long as they did. It is sad to see this economy fall but it was expected.
Walmart is always busy
I was wondering how this would work but nevermind
The last two times I went to Red Lobester the fish tasted like cat food, the last time was the very last time for me. That was about 3 months ago.
Doesn't matter if they close them all s***** salty food next should be Burger King close them too s*** food
Endless goldiggers not shrimp is ending red lobstah
They got rid of the create-a-combo serves them right.
