    Oh man, this takes me back to when the App Store wasn’t just free to play shovelware. Out there was such an interesting game at that time. I’ve long since given up on mobile gaming, but I’m glad this dev is still making games,

    I appreciate that you're playing games further in; a lot of the time a game doesn't really shine/fail until you get past the tutorial parts, so it's good to see later gameplay.

    hey, buddy. what's up? i have been following you for a month or so and I fell in love with your indie content; just like someone else had said, we needed someone as good as you for that, so thanks, you are awesome! im a random Brazilian guy who worked for years with languages and I have noticed how hard it is for games to provide Portuguese audio or simply subtitles. That's why I thought of giving these small guys a help. I mean, I have never done that before, but with my work background I can assure I'd do a good job and help them get a wider audience. Brazil has over 80 million gamers, and one of the biggest complaints they have here is that games are always in English. Considering that less than 5% of the population speaks it fluently, having at least a Portuguese subtitle would make it much more appealing. NOW, if you have any contacts with game developers who would benefit from that, tell them about me. I'm willing to do it for free as I want to gain experience with that first, so if you could help me help them, that would be awesome.

    4:15 - This game is actually a sequel to a game that pre-dated No Man's Sky by quite a bit. The original mobile game came out a few months before the infamous E3 2014 No Man's Sky demo.

    The idea of repairing damage is cool because it soft gates the player. Giving them something to think about with do they take on a new ship or pass due to the lack of res you have to fix the ship. Balancing time and effort into it rather then click click, done.
    So I get why that loop is really good to have. How ever I also like the idea of towing in games like this. Being able to still keep your old ship and either dock it for later use or to sell it.

    I'm glad they removed the timer or oxygen limit or what it was in the last alpha for away missons. Aside from those away missions and some crew management, the rest seems to be pretty much like it was in the predecessor, including finding new ships and kinda repair them. So that feature was in the game way before No Man's Sky existed. Btw. the telescope was usually among the first things I dismantled to get more space in the beginning. ;-) Using the ships you find simply as storage location has also been proven to be a good strategy. Also if I remember correctly the Death Ray was only kind of a quest item to get to a specific ending, like the counter part of another item called Life Seed or so. I hope there are new endings now too. I've got Out There Oceans of Time 2 on my wish list for years now, chances are pretty high, that I'll get it soon.

    So basically, it's Out There updated with a graphical overhaul. Seems cool. Regarding the galactic sight seeing comment... I mean... If I had a spaceship that was FTL capable, you damn well bet you that aside from opting for a procedure to be a ship mind (circa the novel To Sleep in a Sea of Stars), I'd be flying that ship around the galaxy for just that.. sight seeing. Maybe that helps others to colonize and establish civilizations on other worlds maybe not, I'd be more invested in the discovery aspect of things than anything else.

    19:00 a pity this game has very limited interesting systems, so not being able to explore one with a lil bit of everything is a huge miss, finding civilized planets, planets with useful explorations, and systems with caches or ships is super rare, and they are what allows you to keep crew morale and earn a lil tiny bit of the even more scarce exp.
    Due to those factors, having crew leaving you or selling your crew for new one is kind of part of the curse, since you are mostly just playing the resource gathering and expending game until you get to your destination, so passing on to the opportunities to actually do other things is a huge downside.
    And kind of highlights one of the biggest weaknesses of the game, the grand majority of the systems you visit are hyper boring

  • @Furzkampfbomber
    @Furzkampfbomber 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This looks very disappointing, because to me it basically looks like the devs just cloned their previous game 'Out There', pimped it with really pretty graphics and introduced one or two minor changes like the crew morale system, which I am willing to bet will merely end up as another source of frustration. While not really improving on all the problems the original game had, like the annyoing inventory system.
    And worst of all, Oceans of Time (what has this to do with 'time' anyway?) is still completely based on one of the worst RNG I have ever experienced in a game. Out There is my pet peeve, I still play a couple of runs occasionally, simply to see if I can finally beat it at least _once._ Nope, not possible.
    You _will_ run out of fuel, because random event number 1.492 just robbed you of all your fuel, no planet ahead of you _has_ fuel and everything behind you is picked clean. Or because the game will not give you the large distant jump drive you need and lets you basically starve to death in a series of dead ends. Or you die because random event number 2.042 just destroyed your drive and you can't build a new one, since you've just used all needed resources to repair the damage random event number 2.041 did to your ship and all the planets you encounter will have none of said resources, while you the game will constantly send you into systems with hull damaging environments.
    And apparently the devs decided to stuck with this very, extremely frustrating BS and even ramp it up with the crew system. I would not be surprised if a run would end with the engineer murdering you in your sleep, because random event number 3.175 caused PTSD that can only be cured by a teddy bear and a bowl of hot chicken soup, but for the next 100 systems, there is not a single teddy bear or chicken to be found. Despite my rant I actually like the original game, it's a chill game with what could be quite relaxing game mechanics, but seeing that they've basically stuck with the worst parts of Out There and even ramped them up makes this a 'On sale with huge discount' thing for me.
