Thank you so much for your video!! Was able to change my brakes and rotors out today and your video was such a good help!! Saved myself $600! Totally worth the rotor being STUCK on 😅😅😅
cant find any parts stores around here (canada) that resurface. wish we had some. probably still costs more and most of the time mine end up warped anyway.
1. there are two bolt holes M8 1.25 put the bolts in there and force the caliper off. 2. clean the rotor mount area 3. clean the clip mounting points 4. you forgot grease, you forgot to clean the boots, you forgot...... 5. letting your caliper dangle like that....there goes your brake hose..... Seriously you need an update on this video.
Thanks for the tips but some of them are not necessary. Like the rotor mount area was already clean its a California car it just had some dust. And the brake line is okay
@@menjicar You are doing a tutorial, just saying think of situations that are not your own. BTW..no your brake line...why would everyone but you avoid putting stress on the brake line?
@@menjicar I guess I am looking at abut 4:52 where you let it fall because it wasn't secured. Maybe you were busy holding the camera. Just saying you could remake this with many fixes. Your vid though.
@@mikeforrest5912 oh i see if i had 2 hands available that wouldn't have happened but either way to compress it you will need to have it not secured. I secured it in the beginning of the video. The video overall helps others
No it’s not necessary. But you should eventually do it when the fluid starts to become black. Or just look up the interval for your specific car usually around 50k miles Or the the best way would be to buy brake fluid test strips and that will tell you if it’s still good.
I cannot absolutely CANNOT get my rotors off. It seems like I need to remove that axle nut in the middle of the hub. It will not budge. Any tips? I have a 2019 corolla. Identical brakes/rotors as this video.
@@wildwalteradventures1651 Unfortunately, mine doesn’t have those. I eventually got it with some rust eating chemicals and hitting it repeatedly at 9 and 3 o’clock with a mallet. Lol
Always remember to leave the jack under the car when working without jack stands in grass. Makes it convenient for first responders to drag your corpse out from underneath the vehicle.
Depends on the thickness of the rotor. You can take the rotor to a mechanic shop to have them checked out. They usually check with a micrometer for the thickness of the rotor. They will tell you if they can be resurfaced. If so, they will do so and will be much cheaper than getting new rotors. If not, the rotor will have to be replaced.
Deep grooved rotors. Rotors that are beyond the minimum thickness meaning it's so thin it can't be resurfaced. Hot spot rotors that is burn spots on the rotors. Any factures in the rotor. Extremely warped or extremely rusted. And last if you just feel like it. Hope it helps
Thank you for making this video no followed it today and repaired my Corolla brakes for under $40. It meant a lot to me to do it myself. Thank you.
Glad to know! Congrats
Thank you. Don't forget to pump the brakes after the job is complete!

I like how you hold the rotor on with the lug so you can work without the rotor flopping around
Good video. I had a hell of a time with the boot that goes around the caliper piston. Otherwise a straight forward job.
Very nice, simple and informative 👍👍👍
Hey great video. Do I have to open the brake fluid cap when I push back the brake caliber.
Keep up the great work brother 👍✌️🤠
You saved me $260

Is this the same for a Toyota corolla 2021 Hybrid?

Parts stores here charge $20 per rotor. So definitely cheaper just takes more time
@@menjicar mine usually end up warped but don't show the warp until he as Ted up by a few brake cycles. Always been worried id get a bad product

Is it the same concept for rear brakes ?
Is it necessary to perform bleeding aftee changing the rotor/pad?

Look for a bolt hole on your rotor that you can thread a bolt through to push the rotor off the hub

Hey I’m not a pro on this, but do I need to buy a new rotor or can I still use the old one?
I have the brake pads and everything

@@Thatmattdoe appreciate it fam🔥👍
The jack is on the grass?
Yup hahahaha
Just wondering why you didnt bleed the brakes
Will this work for a 2021 Toyota Corolla?
Yes it will same thing
I have a question ,I followed your guide step by step but it takes a longer time for me to brake and it makes a his sound
thanks, liked and subscribed
Does the pin with the indentation go on the top or bottom?
The one with rubber bushing tip goes bottom, the bare metal pin goes on top.
thanks man
Happy to help
NEVER replace pads without either resurfacing or replacing the rotors!!
Looks like you had a ripped CV boot.
How to determine if rotors are bad?
Deep grooved rotors. Rotors that are beyond the minimum thickness meaning it's so thin it can't be resurfaced. Hot spot rotors that is burn spots on the rotors. Any factures in the rotor. Extremely warped or extremely rusted. And last if you just feel like it. Hope it helps
Yea no, maybe to 2016 but newer those brake pads are a pain to clip back
The only thing he didn’t do was bleed the lines
That’s a whole separate job
I gotta learn how to replace car shi🤦🏻♂️
Horrible video skipping key steps such as reinstalling hardware
