- For those who know how to play the base game, in this video, I go over all the details of the solo variant, what the extra pieces mean and how the system works. This is a rather intricately designed solo variant that I believe does well to capture the feel of a good 2 player game, but there is a lot to it! Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the teaching on the solo bot. I am still waiting on this game to arrive, but I am looking forward to it. I enjoyed my play of it at GenCon - what a great game. I think it is worth the hype.
After getting past the rather steep learning curve of BOTH games (the bot is like running a little game itself) I felt rewarded for hanging in there. I've put in this kind of effort before, learning games solo, only to realize I just didn't care for the game. Not so here, happy to report! :)

Only one comment: At 16:25 you explain Teotibot powers up his lowest dice twice when the Alchemy action fails. "You just level up his lowest dice, and then you are done."
The rulebook on page 21 state: "2. If the above step failed, power up its lowest unlocked worker by two, without carrying out any actions or advancing any workers."
If you are not allowed to carryout any actions, then you are also not allowed to let the worker ascend, because that also is an action. Hence
If the above step failed, power up its lowest unlocked worker (but do not power above power 5) by two, without carrying out any actions or advancing any workers.

And thank you! I'm trying to come up with a system in effort to bring tutorial video errors down by playing at least 10 times, re-reading rulebooks and buzzing BGG for rules clarifications/FAQs before even thinking about making one. It feels like this is becoming a bigger issue as more content providers are rushing to get videos out. I would like to see the standard elevated, for viewer's sake as much as anything else.

I was so tempted by this game. I already have Tekhenu. But I prefer an Uwe Rosenberg solo. This has far to much in this solo.
I love my copy of Kanban EV but never gets played as the solo is far to much.
Now Architects has a nice solo if has to have ‘bot’
Just played my first solo playthrough (having played once at 2 players). Couldn't work out the solo tile movements at all! I had them upside down I think (arrows pointing downwards). If I'm honest, I didn't enjoy it and I loved the 2 player game. Perhaps as it was the first time but I found it incredibly difficult to plan as I was so concentrated on the bot admin by the time it came back to me I had forgotten my strategy. Also forgot so many other little admin bits I think...
I hear you. I've only ever played it solo and I didn't like the game much at all at first. But after about my 5th play, things started flowing nicely, and it became one of my faves of 2018.
@@boardgamerants sorry, I neglected to thank you for the excellent video! Was still worked up I think... oh well that's encouraging. Maybe I just need to persevere. I'm relatively new to solo gaming and I think this is the first I've played with a bot. Have just finished the short Blackout: Hongkong solo campaign which was really enjoyable.

@@boardgamerants just to follow up, I've played 5 times solo now and enjoy it more each time! I did, however, find an excellent app on BGG that takes most of the admin out of it.
