Best way (in my experience) to transport large fish: Get a couple 10 quart storage bins with lids that snap on well. Each bin will have one fish + fill about 4/5 with current tank water so there isn't much space to slosh around. Tape the lids closed. Place the bins in a single layer in another box that is lined with towels. Make sure the boxes don't have any wiggle room. If so, add some more towels around them. Drive them carefully! Bring each fish in one at a time. Don't throw away the water- Put it in your new tank for some bacteria!! Check the measurements of the storage container to ensure your fish will fit, but they don't really need much swimming room for the transportation. 💕 Good luck!
Get movers if you can afford it. It makes a HUGE difference

Make sure you have that size tank approved to be in your new place first. You can hire tank movers where they actually “package” and transport everything for you. You can check a local fish store to see if they offer that service, but it takes a ton of stress off of moving a big tank and fish.
from one working class baddie to another: my grandma taught me to always get nice, clean boxes from the back/dumpster of stores -- petco, staples, etc. any plaza w a bunch of stores throws 'em in the back and they're more often than not clean and ready for reuse!

I have huge fancy goldfish. When I moved 20 mins away, I went to my local fish store and asked for large bags so I could just put them in a bag and acclimate them to their new home! It made life so much easier! I put them in a large bucket in the bag so it wasn’t moving so much in the car. 3 years later and my fishy’s are doing great 😊
so excited for this next chapter for you omg!!!! boxes you can always buy, but also i've called places before (walgreens, liquor stores, walmart, etc) & explained im moving and that i need boxes. most times they're nice and you'll get some for free! :3

Don't know much about moving fish. But for the cats, If you
Have to put them in a crate or lock them in a bathroom I would put in dirty clothes that have your sent on them so that they can smell you and be relaxed.

your vet can also give you a light sedative if your cats are prone to anxiety.
In regard to moving your fish to the new home, my boyfriend used to raise and breed fish for years! His advice for a smoother move is try putting them in bags if you have an air stone drop the stone in the bag for a moment to let it get some air in the water then place the bags in a 5 gallon bucket so they don’t lay over. Try to save as much of the water as you can from their previous set up.‼️MAKE SURE THE NEW WATER IS SAFE TO USE‼️Most pet stores will test water And most city water isn’t safe! Hope this helps a little!

We moved my spouse's fish in with us 35 mins away. He used the 5 gallon pails (brand new of course with the tank water and then made sure they were fully secure in the back of the vehicle that being said he had a bunch of catfish not Oscars. They should be okay as stressful as it is they should be okay😊

Moving is always hard, not even the physical labor of it but change is hard and scary but once you’re in it, it’s going to be amazing.

It’s never too early to pack haha. Decluttering and packing non-essentials can take a lot longer than you think. Super excited to see what you do with the new place!!
When I moved that distance I used 5 gallon buckets and locked the seatbelts around them in the back seat
One of the best places to find moving boxes is the dumpsters of, like a Staples or Office Depot. They're clean, and many of them are in great shape. You can also introduce yourself to the manager of one of those stores and ask if they could put some boxes aside for you. Offer to pay for them, but they won't charge you.
Get a big plastic container with a lid and drill holes on the top and move them that way. My mom did for a 3 hour drive and the fish did great! Also you can get boxes at stores for free. Ask if they have any outback from shipments!! Love your videos ❤

I would wait like a year before I moved to save more and find EXACTLY what I wanted. You may feel different in a year, I know u loved Chicago but don’t want u making impulsive decisions u may regret. 💙💙💙
Moving is one of the most stressful things that you will do in life, don't underestimate it however be prepared, as long as you are prepared and organised; you'll be fine.

i recently moved and decluttered the whole house! it’s so nice and clean now at the new house ❤
To move the fish get a tote/5 gallon bucket with a batter powered air pump. Just fill it with their tank water, put a little bit of PRIME water conditioner in there as it helps control ammonia while they are being transported. They will make the trip fine and either totes or buckets have lids to keep water from splashing all over your car. Take your dirty used hang on filter to the new tank as it contains most of the bacteria they will need. Just leave water in it to keep the bacteria alive.
Okay this might sound terrible lol but when I moved my fish an hour and a half away, I bought 5 gallon buckets and some oxygen tablets from a bait shop and moved them that way. With your fish being a lot bigger then my little tropical I would probably do either a 5 gallon bucket for each one or do like a big tote

Meijer or Walmart is a great place to look for boxes
Go around to your local grocery stores, dollar stores, or some big box stores and ask for boxes in my opinion. If you can get banana boxes, they have a top and bottom to them and make moving and packing easier. But I would also check into hiring movers, if you can afford to. Good luck with your move. Liquor stores and grocery stores usually have a lot of boxes for free and you can just go in and ask if they've got any :)

I always keep boxes from Amazon just for putting small/fragile items in. If you go to Walmart or another store, ask them if they have moving boxes.
As for moving your fish use the water from the tank and maybe a cooler to move them. Something big enough for them to be in comfortably. If you have anyone who can be with you just to make sure it doesn't shake too much. I did that with my water turtle

The U-Haul store has this apartment packing kit I use to move, plus they have a lot of other packing supplies.
