    I've been fascinated by that motor since I saw the movie in high school in 84.Spent endless nights thinking of magnetic clutches, intake bypases, how to make it work. Even made a centrifugal blower from an old vacuum unit for my poverty ford pinto. Good times. Great job with the recreation!

    • @croccustom
      @croccustom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I know the feeling about trying to produce the blower as a 'on' 'off' unit. My first interceptor had a functional unit. My latest also has one. Thought about doing the clutch system a few times but there is a lot to take into consideration. It is really only a Mad Max fan that would want to achieve such a goal. But I am sure one day someone will work it out.

      Very square looking.
      It’s a fascinating story and may give you some fresh ideas.

      He made a twin-engine 4wd sprint car that worked so well that it was promptly banned…
      That happened to him fairly frequently.

    I don't understand how that fuel system works. Never seen anything like it. I have a black 1968 Chevy Nova that looks a lot like that car (intentionally) with a 427ci engine, real 6-71, but mine has a single Holley four barrel double pumper on top of the blower, and a rounded Hilborn style scoop on top of the carb. Mine is completely conventional. I don't have those crazy side pipes, and I still have the trunk lid on it. I wasn't trying to build a replica (those Australian Falcons are hard to come by) just the general look.

    • @croccustom
      @croccustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The injection was fabricated off an original Scott Injection unit that was used for drag racing in the early days. Generally they just added some injectors and away it went. But really they need some major modifications to get them to work properly.

      Usually you have an option..1 fake blower with switch or 2 real blower that functions all the time. Haven't seen anyone that achieved both. Very cool! It's like watching a heart specialist analyzing the heart of the beautiful girl on the planet and, indeed, she's DEFINITELY good company, loyal and faithful and definitely trustworthy! Adding the Monza front end was a genius idea! What I don't get is how they were able to that part of it. Would it be possible to do a video on that aspect? The Falcon (as we all know) was a Ford but Monza was owed by Chevy so how was that front end fitted with such perfection? Like those old Lexus coms where they'd roll a ball bearing down the hood along the seam between the front bumper and the hood. Remember those? I'll bet Ms. Black on Black can do that too but how? My friend gave an all too simple answer that wasn't to my satisfaction. "They can do anything they want." Ok.. that's Hellyweird, I get that..but, Hellyweird did NOT design this car! The masters of Aussie did and I think it was completely Byron Kennedy's idea from start to finish. In other words, the man dreamed of having a car like this and then immortalized it on film. I get all misty eyed every time I have to watch her get rolled,crunched and blown to hell n back whenever I watch them. Her best look was when Max first jacked her right from his own precinct. He was NOT authorized to take her but did anyway. In the first film, there's even an APB put out on him as he's listening to the scanner. The blower being a functional asset is the icing on the cake though! Very few (if any) of these reproductions have a working blower. All the ones I've seen say the same thing: "..strictly a prop." Very well done video with some great angles to get a really good look at this thing.

      Thankyou for you feedback. As a young lad at the time of the movie coming out I was also fascinated at the look of the Interceptor just like many others. I had built my first Interceptor way back in the early 80's. I also had a functional blower at that stage. I even went to the drive.in theatre in those days with my Interceptor to watch Mad Max 2. As for the Monza front you could buy modified versions of them to suit several different cars. They were especially used in the Panelvan era. I well know show van back then was the concord. Also the front was used a concept coupe to which the Interceptor was based on. I managed to get hold of one of the fronts from the reproduction fibreglass guys in the day. Eventually people started to reproduce them. Now days you can buy all the accessories you need to build a coupe. These days you will find more and more people attempting to build a functional supercharger. But in Australia they are illegal due to certain rules and regulations . I know because I was banned off the road way back in the early days. Since I am in the America these days it is possible to get away with a lot more.

      That would be a great idea if I still lived in Canberra. But these days I am in Southern California. Wish I still had my Interceptor from the old days. But got another over here.

      Did a lot of work to finish this Interceptor off. Mainly worked on the Blower set up on this car. My own personal Interceptor has a real blower also as like I had in the old days back home. You can see the latest build on my other videos.

    see that is just a blower motor engine, not a real mad max motor

    • @croccustom
      @croccustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually a blower motor engine is a real mad max motor minus switch to turn it on. The movie replica or prop vehicle had a fake blower for the purpose of ease of filming.

    Should have used a Chev so you can have a shorter pulley snout it will make it look more accurate...

    • @croccustom
      @croccustom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are so right. But I would have to push the blower forward so I could still pick up the crank pulley. That would mean a modification to the blower manifold.

    • @croccustom
      @croccustom  ปีที่แล้ว

      5-10 lbs. Can vary it by reversing my upper and lower pulleys. That motor is undergoing some refreshing at present.
