I was at PIA Arena for this performance and it was really a special one. The whole show was about the end of the old Babymetal, and the beginning of the new, and this song was a big moment in the transition. Being in the arena, it's hard to put into words how it felt during the interlude, but it was was electric, reverent, wistful and a whole bunch of different feelings. It was clear that we were witnessing was the closing of the door on the first ten years of Babymetal, because the video featured some of their most famous performances of Karate over the years, and it seemed (to me at least) like it was particularly focused on Yui and I got the feeling that this performance was a final acknowledgment of Yui's contribution to Babymetal and an expression of Babymetal's determination to push through the adversity and carry on.

Great reaction. 'Karate' was the lead single for the second album, it is about fighting on when life knocks you down, standing up, helping each other through the hard times.
The official video visuals make the message and meaning of the song very clear.
In this performance the bridge was extended while the Metalverse girls left the stage and BABYMETAL made their way to the main stage ... the montage of past performances they were showing on the big screen was very moving. It was an homage to the BABYMETAL they were laying to rest in these BABYMETAL Begins concerts and symbolised a lot of the struggles they had fought through and risen above as the original trio with Yui and then in the period with Su and Moa as a duo.
I hope you can get tickets to see them with your Dad somewhere, wherever it is, when they are in the US later this year.🦊

Yea, you spotted them 🤣.Them showing performances of karate over the years felt very emotional to me, and the ladys . Su looked very emotional at the end. I just loved it, and it brought back so many memories of being a fan and seeing their story in real time over a lot of years 😁

    Great reaction, thanks!
I've found this info about the "Ossu" expression's use and origin. I also triple-checked it and the derivation from “Ohayō Gozaimasu” theory seems the most plausible:
“Ossu” is one of those universal words that means so many things like “hello”, “goodbye”, “I understand”, “yes”, “thank you” and “I agree”. It truly is the ultimate utility word for martial artists! The interesting thing is that although this word is Japanese based, many Japanese never use it and wouldn’t know what it means! So the question is often asked about the origin of the word “ossu” and in fact there are 3 distinctly different versions relating to its derivation.
One popular belief of the origin of the word is that it came from the Japanese Navy prior to World War II where it was supposedly used to nurture the spirit of the samurai in naval personnel.
Another theory of the word’s origin was put forward by Dr Mizutani Osamu, a professor of linguistics, who conducted a number of experiments using the Japanese words “Ohayu Gozaimasu”. This phrase is used as a “good morning” greeting and Dr Osamu repeatedly said this to random strangers around his city and found the responses he got varied from “Ohayu Gozaimasu” through to “Ohayu”. Interestingly he found that respondents engaged in vigorous physical activity such as jogging, came back with the shorter response “oh-su” and he concluded this could be a contraction of the two words “Ohayu Gozaimasu”and is perhaps a lazy way of saying the equivalent in English of “hey” or “yo”and just because the root of these words means “good morning”, it doesn’t mean people saying “Ossu” are thinking that.
Similarly it’s been proposed that “Ossu” is a contraction of the word “Onegaishimasu,” a polite catchall word that generally means “please” and sometimes “sorry.”
The third theory relating to the origin of “ossu” comes from Kyokushin karate. Here it’s thought “Ossu” is a contraction of the words “oshi” (meaning push) and “shinobu” (meaning to endure) and the resultant “Ossu” has a meaning of patience, determination and perseverance and Kyokushin devotees are reminded of these characteristics when using this word.
Whatever the true background of “OSSU”, this unusual word is used (sometimes excessively!) in many karate dojo around the world and is understood in any language. A final consideration with the use of this word is that essentially “ossu” is considered a rough, masculine expression used particularly as a greeting between men and rarely used by women (except in a dojo setting).

The "os" you asked for is, I believe, "ossu" that is often used for greeting or replying in a Karate dojo. I suggest to also checkout the live KARATE version from the recent video from the HELLFEST festival. SU is jumping while signing at the same time, which is very impressive.

Nice one! Great song about fighting through challenges. Be sure to check out Download UK 2016 version at some point. I think it's still one of their best performances! Festival setting (no stage production), in the rain, and amazing crowd engagements. Also with Yui.
Ossu, Seiya, and Soya = Onamatapeia, and is similar to words such as "Ummph!", "Hooaaah!", etc.
Look forward to the next one! 🤘🦊

If I was planning the show, I would have had Metalverse start the song on the main stage and then had Babymetal come out and pick them up during the transition. Then both groups could have performed the rest of the song together on that stage in a six person formation, Miko and Su possibly singing in unison/harmony. What was here was great, though.

Actually that wasn't MetalVerse, they had to pull out at the last minute, it's 3D holograms like Hatsune Miku...
    Only joking 😎
What you do get from this is, yes MetalVerse can sing but, when you put them up against the powerhouse that is Su singing live there's very much a little sister vibe, yes I know that was part of the idea, but the difference is striking.
Karate was actually the song that showed up in my recommendations and got me back into BabyMetal. To this day I have no idea why the algorithm suggested it but I'm grateful it did.
You should also check the official MV for this as it's wonderful.

    _Ossu!_ 🦊🤘🥋
Love this version and the emotional flashbacks when remembering all those moments from the past as well our forever tomato princess in it.
Now you need to enjoy one of the live versions at the recent Europe Tour, you can find some proshot clips from some of those such Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, Pinkpop and more.
Btw "hajime", "yoi" and "ossu" words are used frequently in Karate dojos but I came to know that ossu isn't used at traditional Karate dojos in Okinawa the land where Karate was created (btw BM played there this year for the first time at Legend 43, Ayumi Hamazaki was also in that special live show and I love her, also they're gonna show a movie in Japanese theaters about this but also they announced it'll be at USA theaters in December so get ready).
It's used at modern Karate dojos, but the problem isn't about the actual meaning, which apparently comes from military training that's related to Bushido, but the abuse of times using it pretty much for everything, “Ossu!” expresses a strong assertiveness, masculinity and “let’s kick-butt” spirit in Japanese, so isn't wrong to say it in certain and specific ways or moments when practicing or before starting a battle, but instead of using that word to say "yes" is better to say "hai". With that being said at least BM used one word normally used in Karate, in fact it's the only one in the lyrics.
BabyMetal is doing their own set with this choreography borrowing from different places and adding their own kawaii flavor, just like when they're saying "ossu" isn't a typical word said by a girl afaik, is all about heavy contrast, after all that is their thing and they got no match doing this.
You can also hear another shouts like "seya" and "soya", those are typical japanese shouts at festival when carrying a shrine in those Shinto ceremonies.
I already got my tickets for Knotfest Brazil so I will see them before you and I'm looking for more countries nearby announcement and hopefully they will be more near, it'll be even better a headlining show but I think it's hard and we'll have to look only for Slipknot shows or festival with BM as a special guests like they will in Mexico in November 9.
Kitsune up and thanks for sharing this AlexaMetal.🦊🤘❤

And seen in the Background it seems so pointless. In the Beginning of Metalvetse this recycling of the old Babymetal songs was obviously a significant part of Metalverse. After Babymetal demonstrated that they fill reliably arenas worldwide to capacity, the old licences obviously transfered Back into Babymetals Portfolio and Mezalverse were pushed back onto their own Songs and after they have lost 2 of their 4 dancers ( One because she wanted to put more work into her school career instead of her unsure future of an Idol and when they started a crazy reshuffle another department cancelled her dancing engagement since her Career as an Actress took off. And not only that the Choreo with Asterism was not so impressive, it was more than obvious that they tried to put 2 dancets in the place of 4. And the fact that Miko already had a Song for Asterism is another Dangermark. Since Koba has no real time for Metalverse since Babymetal has so many potential Productions in their Pipelines that he will be quite busy. The girls can handle their shows without him, but he is still their producer.

@@martinmetal7481 Hate? Why Hate. He is simply a human bring, that makes faults. There was a reason why Su demanded, that he made her the Stage Director of Babymetal. He simply misses often enough crucial informations. It was not his fault that he didn't predict that his girls would return to him. That he was careful that the big return of Babymetal might fail is mote an advantage that he had. Don't put all our eggs in one basket, but he should know that he can't train the girls of Metalverse without any perspective. But someone has to keep an eye on the girls of Metalverse. If there is one thing Amuse might have it is n
Managers. I mean he knew Electric Callboys from the beginning, so he should have expected that Momo realizes that her ability might be usefull for Babymetal without an additional addvise.
