Rival Sons was formed in Long Beach, California in 2009. They have a heavy 60s/70s Classic Rock sound. They are a combination of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and early Aerosmith (Jay Buchanon is a powerhouse vocalist in the Steven Tyler vein but, I wouldn't say he sounds too much like Tyler). I've seen them headlining on their own and they're absolutely off the charts good!!! They wear their influences on their sleeves like badges of honor without sounding like clones of them. If you don't have Rival Sons in your collection, try picking up their fourth album *Great Western Valkyrie* . It's a dark, adventurous, muscular album of inventive songs full of rhythmic interplay and the light-and-shade approach that bands like Led Zeppelin used to separate themselves from the rest of their peers in their heyday. Scott Holiday (guitar) and Jay Buchanon (vocals) are the primary songwriters and their unique vision sounds eerily familiar while maintaining a fresh creative slant on the subject matter. I'd love to see you do a deep dive on Rival Sons complete with videos for your top ten songs and your album ranking for their catalog. They are my favorite band since they arrived on the scene. In late 2013 I saw a video they had released in 2012 for their third album *Head Down* I was stoked to find out that they were working on a new album and in June of 2014, their album Great Western Valkyrie was in my hands the day it came out. I've been all in ever since! They also have done tons of appearances on radio shows as an acoustic duo playing their songs and at times, some interesting covers. They did an acoustic cover of the Olivia Newton-John song Hopelessly Devoted To You. Jay's vocal on that is mindblowing! I don't know how his voice can endure performances like that one without diminishing over time but, he sounded as good if not better when I saw them live as when I heard them in 2013. Just a force to be reckoned with!
I saw them in 2023 at a club in Harrisburg, Pa with a little over 500 people in attendance. I don't know how a band like them isn't the biggest band in the world right now.
As a sixty year old white man, methinks Public Enemy is a great musical act. Saw Rival Sons open for Black Sabbath on The End tour and actually thought were the better band on the bill. Thanks Brendon.

I only have one Rival Sons CD in my collection. They’re ok - seems like a decent pick to fill a GN’R opening slot. Had to Google it, but they’re from California.
Also hope that guns n roses hurries up and puts out a new album they have wasted too many years they should have had way more albums out. So hopefully something new will come soon and hopefully it will be awesome.
So pumped for the new Bumblefoot!
Rival Sons is LA-based. Love these music news roundups Brendon!
Thanks for all the updates. Brendon 👍💯

Saw them a couple times. Last year as a headliner in a small venue. Right down on the floor. Fantastic show👍.

Thanks Brendon.
Nice shirt 👕
I might be wrong, but isn't Greg Hamm the sax player for men at work deceased?
Colin’s Hay is the only one who is listed as a member today. I don’t know who the other guys will be.
Steve Lukather and Colin Hayes are both touring with Ringo’s Allstars, probably how they hooked up to tour together with their bands

The Iron Maiden tour next year is The Run For Your Lives Tour , The Future Past Tour was the one they just completed

The lineup for KC’s band is basically REO Speedwagon’s most recent lineup.
Rival Sons will blow GnR off the stage.
I'd like to see Men At Work. Looks like Colin is the only original member there currently, so technically I guess it's Man At Work😅
Really looking forward to seeing how Simon Dawson sounds with Iron Maiden during the upcoming Run For Your Lives Tour 😁
I can't stand rap music as well it gets on my nerves. Lol. Im all Rock and metal 🤘
No Dennis DeYoung no Styx for me
Not a problem for me.
Agreed though I did buy the last one because Brandon suggested it.
I see you're still going for that "Ned Flanders has let himself go" look.
Really? Ned Flanders is what comes to mind. I’d go with James Hetfield or someone else from the music world 👍
@@BrendonSnyderyou look good!
I’ll back u up on the hetfield look or… D Day from animal house lol
According to Eddie Trunk, there's almost zero chance of Guns N' Roses creating new music.
I’m going to listen to what the band members say over Eddie Trunk 👍
