  • In a rare interview, CNN’s Ben Wedeman questioned senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan in Beirut, Lebanon. The interview comes amid increasingly distant hopes of reaching a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.

      Indeed!!
There supposed to be a "CNN asks Israeli official why Netanyahu refuses to show his position publically to Biden's ceasefire proposal (not US-backed ceasefire proposal)".
We're monitoring intensively the developments since Biden announced HIS proposal, not Israeli proposal, on May 31, 2024.
Hamas has responded to the dictate, which the proposal actually is.
But Blinken said that some of the group's amendments were "not workable", which is American hasbara for "they doesn't fit in what Biden wants to achieve (for the Israelis)."
During the whole process of talks, Netanyahu has always made clear that he wants to continue to destroy "Hamas" (read Gaza).
In fact, Netanyahu wants an open-ended ceasefire deal that can't be called a ceasefire.
CNN tries to blame Hamas while Biden AND Netanyahu are the two problem makers and obstacles.

@@dodorish Fun fact, the Romans (as in the empire) started calling the region Syria Palaestina in somewhere around year 135, about 1900 yearss ago, just to be dicks. Yes just to insult the jews.
At this poiint Juedae was still very much jewish, and Muhamad wasn't born until about 570, or 435 years after the territory was renamed Palastine from Judeae.
So israel and Palastine are two names for the same place.
So then after umpteen wars it was in the hands of the ottoman empire, nowhere near "independent just part of the larger ottoman empire.
Following the breakup of the ottoman empire the land ownsers (including Ww2 muslim nazi Mohammed Amin al-Husseini.
These land owners sold land off to Jewish individuals and Jewish groups. Following ww2 there was an influx of people leaving other parts of the world going to Israel.
At this point a multicultural state was formed
      73% jewish
      18% muslim
      1.1% christan
      et all.
Then everyone went to war with Israel because they think that 73% jewish is jusst too high and they want zero% jewish.
Palastiine was founded in 1980ish and 44 years later they are still calling people who left israel and their descendants refugees.
It's been a bloody mess every since, with various armies, terror groups, and whatever the heck Hamas is classified as declaring war on Israel, getting civilians killed, retribution killings, and a new ceasefire that's eventually broken by the same people who signed it. Leading to more killings, air strikes, and loss of life.
Now it appears that as the last of hamas are getting hunted down or surrendering that it's the Houthis turn iin southern lebanon to start a war with israel that their civilian population will be paying for with the blood of the innocent.
But that's what you get for killing jews in israel. Retaliatory death,

The FLN was never at fault; rather, it reveals the true nature of France, which consisted of World War II veterans upholding a racist system that they hated when it was applied to them by the Germans.

    • @joannefitzpatrick992
      @joannefitzpatrick992 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yaromlahat I often use my brain for critical thinking as well as collective discernment. Pardon me, the last ceasefire that I had heard of was Biden's three-part plan for a withdrawal; during the initial 6 week ceasefire Israel would withdraw and then the hostages would be released, palestinians would then be returned to their homes, and long-term solutions would be made. Netanyahu doesn't seem to have any long-term solutions. This was from an article published yesterday;
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right coalition allies have rejected the latest proposal and have threatened to bring down his government if he ends the war leaving Hamas intact.
But Netanyahu is also under mounting pressure as thousands of Israelis, including families of the hostages, have demonstrated in favor of the U.S.-backed plan."
From what I have understood is that previously Netanyahu did not want the ceasefire because he immediately wanted the hostages back and Hamas didn't want to do that because then they would have nothing to negotiate with.
I have nothing against Israel, and agree they have every right to defend themselves; however I do not feel that his goal is to accept a ceasefire, I believe he wants to continue this war as long as possible so that the political criticisms and accountability he was facing prior to October 7th remain forgotten in the distraction of war.
However that is my interpretation of events, if you have come to a different conclusion from your own evaluations, please elaborate.
Not only do I pontificate, I prefer to engage in discourse rather than resorting to insulting or belittling someone I don't agree with.

..Malta's UN Ambassador Vanessa Frazier, who is the Security Council president for April, told reporters after a closed-door meeting on Monday that talks will be held this month.
US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said Washington's position remains unchanged.

It isn't the path that I would take, but it appears Hamas thinks that the only way that the Palestinian people can be free of the oppression of the Israeli Zionist is to get the world to wake up to the atrocities of the Israeli Zionists so that the world will step in to stop that oppression.
The State of Palestine is a country that has been recognized by over 70% of the countries in the UN.
The US keeps using its veto power to block the vote for the State of Palestine from becoming a full member of the UN the same what the China uses its veto power to block the vote of Taiwan from becoming a full member of the UN.
It appears that Hamas wasn't enough international light shined on the issue so that the world will step in like it has in other countries to stop what is going on.
There have been UN peacekeepers in South Korea since the 1950. I think UN peacekeepers should have been moved into the State of Palestine decades ago to protect the Palestinians from the Israeli Zionists.

all freedom fighters are called terrorists per occupation force , from History with example
the categorization often depends on perspective - one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter in conflicts against occupation or oppressive rule.
    example from history
The U.S. State Department's annual Country Reports on Terrorism have designated around 60 groups as "foreign terrorist organizations" since 2001, many of which reject that label.
potentially up to 500,000 Africans may have taken up arms as "freedom fighters" from the 1940s to the 1990s in struggles against colonial rule, minority regimes and foreign occupations across the continent.
    1) The ANC, led by Nelson Mandela, was designated a terrorist organization by the apartheid government of South Africa for its armed struggle against white-minority rule.
    2) France branded the algerian FLN rebels as "terrorist gunmen" and the conflict became increasingly brutal on both sides.
    3) FRELIMO in Mozambique - Waged an armed struggle against Portuguese colonial rule and secured independence
    4) The British and Egyptian regimes labeled the Brotherhood as a terrorist organization and violently cracked down on it in the 1940s and 1950s.
    5) The Italian authorities condemned the Libyan resistance fighters as "rebels", "terrorists" and "gangs of criminals" for carrying out attacks against Italian forces and settlement

Current Status of Peace deal as 14-Jun-2024 ( Netanyahu has categorically and publicly refused any kind of ceasefire agreement)
    U.S. Position (Antony Blinken):
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has engaged in shuttle diplomacy, meeting with regional leaders to negotiate a ceasefire deal. However, in an interview with Al Jazeera, Blinken blamed Hamas for the lack of an agreement, stating: "The proposal that President Biden laid out 12 days ago was virtually identical to one that Hamas had accepted and put forward itself on May 6th. So there's no reason why this agreement should not be reached."
    Hamas' Position:
While Blinken claims Hamas rejected a proposal it had previously accepted, Hamas has not publicly confirmed or denied this. Their statements have focused on laying out conditions for a ceasefire, such as ending the crippling blockade on Gaza and securing the release of Palestinian prisoners.
    Israel's Position (Netanyahu):
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has categorically and publicly refused any kind of ceasefire agreement. He stated: "Israel will not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas...Calls for a ceasefire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to terrorism, to barbarism. That will not happen."
Analysis (Daniel Levy, former Israeli negotiator):
According to Daniel Levy, a former Israeli peace negotiator interviewed on the podcast, Blinken's statements blaming Hamas are a "sleight of hand" and part of a "blame game" since Israel has been the main obstacle to any ceasefire deal. Levy argues the U.S. is unwilling to use meaningful leverage against Israel and has demonstrated a "callous attitude" by failing to acknowledge Palestinian civilian casualties resulting from Israeli bombings.
