"High Flight" (version from late 70s Air Force film, read by William Conrad - rendered to VOX ADPCM)

  • VOX = compatible with OKI6295.
    Used 18.5 kHz sample rate, as it is not possible to compress this down to a 256KB file without speeding up the audio significantly, or rendering the track with no music (relying solely on a vocal stem).
    18.5 kHz is also equal to YM2610 ADPCM-A; this sample rate offers good results for most voice/sound clips, with very little noticeable hiss.
    Was originally going to render this as 8-bit signed PCM (as used in Ensoniq ES5505), but there was a bit too much 'artifacting,' especially at the end (this is noticeable as the song ends and all that remains is the tape hiss).
    Believe it or not, ADPCM in general offers better results than PCM in most cases (ESPECIALLY for anything ripped from a tape that will include hiss), and the resulting files are significantly smaller in comparison.
