Hey Brent - Another great video. Planning this spot for the Spring. Were the trails busy at all? Couldn’t really tell from your video. Saw your map - did you hike this loop CCW? Water easy to come across? How did you research this one? Thanks. Bryan
Hey Bryan! Thanks for watching. I did go counter clockwise. The intent was to do a route somewhere around 30 miles with options to do more or less along the way. Overall I’m happy with how the route went and I got to see a lot of big attractions along the way. As for planning I purchased the maps here. They were hugely beneficial. www.outragegis.com/trails/product/red-river-gorge-backpacking-map/ I saw a lot of people at trailheads and at big attractions but once I got away from the trailheads it was peaceful and I didn’t come in contact with many! It was a great mixture of social and solitary that time of year (early May) Water was plentiful and most of the marked streams were flowing. I didn’t have any issues and didn’t need to carry more than 2l. There is no water at hansons point so if you camp there you need to plan to stop before the ascent or plan a slack pack trip for water at some point when you’re out there. (I filled up at the last water crossing before camp on the map and that got me through the night and morning)
Thanks for watching! On this trip I used an iPhone for most of the recording and the Insta360 one x2 action cam for some shots. All the “drone like” footage came from the one x2
Great video of one of my favorite places on earth. Thanks for sharing it.
Excellent video. You really captured the unique terrain and various features of this area. You also covered a lot of ground. Well done!
Great video! Hoping to get out there myself soon!
Nice one 👍👍 You hit some great spots in the gorge! Pounded out some long days too !
Thank you! It was a really fun trip! Busy 3 days with a 4 hour drive on day 1 and 3 as well haha
