How to Lighten a Dark Image. in this case lightening the foreground portrait and darkening down the background. Plus some portrait editing with improving the color of the image by adding color grading.

George, this is one of your best tutorials because it solves very nicely with a numbers of simple techniques a problem that commonly occurs with photos we've taken. I loved how you used the gradient and blending tools. That is what really caught my attention. I know I will be able to use this in a number of photos. What is also nice is that the steps and techniques can also be used in much earlier versions of PSE. Thanks.
You're welcome! I try to stick with simple easy solutions when possible. Could have used the Subject Select tool on this, but this way is more compatible.
Thanks George- I don't think I have ever done light manipulation like that- what a difference. Now to see IF I can do it.
You're welcome Linda! Most of this is my usual separating the different parts of an image into individual layers so that I can put different settings for different parts of the picture. The one new trick is the gradient map layer to color grade the photo, I have shown stuff like that in the past but not exactly in this way.
Good tutorial, often pictures lose their for a variety of reasons, this is a great recovery method!

Hello 🙂 I use Adobe premiere Elements and have just received a Mac Studio M1 Max. Experiencing that my old Mac from 2015 is actually faster for video editing. Could it be an update for premiere elements that is missing for the Mac studio. Thanks for great videos👍
