I watched this a few weeks ago and forgot to add a comment and Kudos to you Gill. Here's some comparison info on the Sabrent USB 3.2 Type-c 10Gbps enclosure with a Silicon Power A60 1 TB drive installed(running on a TB 4 40-Gbps port) Read MB/s Write MB/s 1059.97 1028.48 929.43 957.80 243.43 267.15 40.54 80.55 This is a pretty low speed PCIe 3.0 (2200 MB/s read / 1600 MB/s write) drive that I picked up for $50 on Amazon to use as a simple bootable USB drive using Ventoy to have a multi-OS bootable installation drive with. As you can see even on TB4 port on a PC doesn't benefit you much as you run into USB 3.2 speed bottlenecks. So for those who have an older spare large capacity NVME m.2 drive. A USB C 3.2 enclosure like this is MORE than adequate for pretty much anything except extremely large data transfers( like video editing) on external devices. I've yet to pick up a TB4 enclosure due to the premium priced nature of anything labeled ThunderBolt or even USB 4 at the moment. Hopefully, prices will come down in the upcoming year and I'll try the test again just to see an apples to apples comparison.
Hi John Smith, Welcome! Appreciate Your Comments! Thanks for Sharing Your Stats! A PCIe 3.0 M.2 NVMe Drive is well matched for USB-C 10Gbps Connections. Agreed, Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 Devices are a bit of a Premium stretch right now and difficult to justify!

Hi Best in Kamloops, Welcome! Great Question! Let's look at the Specs. Samsung 980 is PCIe 3.0 = 3,500MBps. Samsung 980 Pro is PCIe 4.0 = 7,000MBps. 10Gbps = 1,250MBps 20Gbps = 2,500MBps 40Gbps = 5,000MBps Formula: Multiply the digital storage value by 125. Therefore, 3,500MBps = 28Gbps Yes, You would prefer a 40Gbps Thunderbolt / USB4 Enclosure to maximize speed. Does Your Computer have Thunderbolt / USB4?

Hi Jim,
Welcome! Not showing up... in Windows? New M.2 NVMe Drive? Needs Formatting and a Drive Letter assigned. Use Disk Management.

Trim not support.
