  • I made it to "The Sacrifice" in Warframe! As a new player, this was an emotional rollercoaster! Instead of commentary, I'm depending on my live reactions to "The Sacrifice" in game along with some friends who joined me in Discord. Needless to say, it was kind of insane. Warframe just keeps rolling with the dark and twisted story. I love it.
    Come hang out with us on Discord, chat with gamers, enjoy some music. Be cool.: / discord

    I went with "Acceptance" for this quest and the voiceline stuck with me ever since.

    I love that Warframes Story is so sacret that even thou it has been years, there are still spoiler warnings.

      I've been saying it's the best part for a long time. The fact that this 11 year old game not only is still blowing people's minds all this time later, but that whole crowds of players flock to see live reactions is immensely impressive.
      More people need to play it.

    Executor Ballas is a special kind of bastard. A perfect example of a villain we love to hate.
    The thing I loved the most about this quest was the perspective. The way my heart and my stomach both sank with horror at what Ballas was doing to this man, and the Soylent Green-style reveal of were Warframes came from, all of it was built-up and presented incredibly well.

      At least I'm not the only one who made the soylent green comparison in my head. Even when I said "Warframes are...?" I thought "Soylent green is people!"

    I have played this qeust many years ago. I have watched countless TH-camrs and streamers play through this quest, and the final flashback until the "take its pain away" never fails to give me actual real tears. This is and will always be the best quest in Warframe.

    When the music swelled (the song Umbra used to play for his son) and Ballas said "They had learned to see inside an ugly broken pain, (deeper voice) and take away it's pain", my tears started flowing.
    Also the reveal of Warframes being humans hit so hard, especially cause the question of what Warframes are had been unanswered for years and years before this quest came out.

    The Sacrifice is metal af. Warframes are metal af. Gut punches for everyone.
    I loved seeing your reaction to this. I beat him with a mote amp and holy Space Mom was that a struggle bus. Don't worry, Ballas will get . . . well, all in good time.
    When you finally get Voruna, listen to her lore in the Leverian.
    When people ask me what Warframe is, I tell them it's a game about magical zombie cyber ninjas with mommy issues. Then I refuse to explain.

    A while back I was listening to the Warframe OST and when this song played - I cried. Not from pain or sadness - just an overwhelming flood of emotion without distinction.
    It was ugly and beautiful.
    BTW I'm glad you're experiencing Warframe's phenomenal story. It's definitely dark and sometimes the quests feel far too short - but almost all of them hit you right in the gut.

      I'm a pretty avid reader, and I really enjoy dark fantasy, gritty westerns, and historical fiction with accuracy (all the bad and good together). So, Warframe's story does it for me.

    So heres a bit of lore on the warframe creation.
    Gen 1 is the original warframes infected with...well infestation. They were functionally uncontrollable in their madness although some were possibly able to retain a sense of their self where we get some lore from.
    Gen 2 are the primes. In the early days pre the sacrifice quest, they were believed to be the original warframes. Post it appears as though they were created out of pure helminth strain and the height of orokin tech.
    Gen 3 the base warframes same as above but the mass produced version.
    As an aside for the warframes moving on their own, i believe the prevailing theory is the helminth (which is whats in the back of your orbiter) is infestation has some kind of symbiotic relationship with the operator and can technically move under its own power somewhat as a self preservation instinct.
    Can't confirm or deny the truth of it, but it is a theory.

      @zaviki7819 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with a lot of what you have said, or at least your line of reasoning, there is just one problem I have with you seperating the primes as their own generation. And that would be the varzia voiceline where she specifically calls out how SOME frames started as prime while others EARNED their prime. Other than that, pretty consice way of explaining it, with no spoilers.

    • @cybernomad5971
      @cybernomad5971 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @zaviki7819 Nice catch, the only explanation I could think of is that there would be a transition from one gen to the next especially if taking ballas volunteers or not.
      Stands to reason the 'volunteers' would get better gear to show orokin 'benevolence'. Plus I imagine the spread of information was regulated + whatever means varzia used to stay alive may have muddied the memory.
      Which begs the question how to Teshin and varzia live since the old war. I'm assuming cryo pods like the tenno till the grineer found teshin and maroo found varzia but who knows.

      Supposedly Gara was one of the few (if only one) to undergo the procedure willingly.

    Umbra was special, most of the original Warframes were sentient but umbra was created well after the rest of them when sentient frames were no longer needed. Fitted with a special umbral transference bolt made to hold the memory of him killing his own son forever.

    • @Darthmufin
      @Darthmufin หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is zero evidence of warframes being sentient. It's either old lore before the sacrifice or even the second dream existed making the lore questionable, or it was tenno controlling them. Remember, being put into those pods and forced to dream made them think they WERE the warframe they were controlling, they didn't realize they were someone in a pod so any personality a frame had was just a lens from having their self projected into the frame.

    • @HeyItsJali
      @HeyItsJali  หลายเดือนก่อน

      SPOILERS!
      Yeah but the Warframe in The Second Dream pulled the Stalker's sword from their chest and even Hunhow was like, "What is this?" It sure seemed like it was the Warframe acting independently. And Valkyr was tortured by Alad V. But, I guess that could mean the original Valkyr maybe?

    • @Darthmufin
      @Darthmufin หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HeyItsJali That was the operator controlling the warframe remotely, as they do later in the war within. The valkyr thing is now removed from her lore, so its not canon anymore.
      I suppose you could say if the lore was still canon that he did experiment on a valkyr who was being controlled by a tenno. it really depends, since boss deaths are not canon so extending the lore to include millions of valkyrs running around is a bit of a stretch if you get me lol

    • @HeyItsJali
      @HeyItsJali  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah! That really confused me when I saw Alad V in the Second Dream again and thought, "Well...maybe he was cloned again?" Then realized that's not canon.

      @@Darthmufin rhino prime's codex entry speaks the story of a crazed Rhino escaping and killing people until they are lured into the chamber with the tenno where they are seemingly calmed. We know there were Warframes in use by the orokin even BEFORE then tenno were discovered and made weapons.

      The umbra transference bolt is linked to ballas, or because umbra was a dax, it makes sense that ballas can control him or telepathically communicate with him.
