The comparison it self it's hard, we would need to see a full curve replica on PD to make it fair. In my system (I have a Dynaudio mini main pair and a treated room) the differences are disgustingly obvious. 3D depth imaging is just superior with EQP-1 Doing sound design, in where you can freely go for insanely sounds full of subs, it's where you'll be able to really dig what tube stages do to your source material. For the ones who wanna go further into Pultecs, Stam Audio's iteration it's really cool for this. Their unit has the option to change from the solid state Pultec (SA-2520 Op Amps) with an A class style transformers stage ("Like" Prometheus) to the Classic Pultec EQP1-A Tube output stage ("Like" EQP-1). Cost a little more than this two together, but having the two versions of the universal Pultec sound in one unit at a flick of a switch, justt DAYUM, it's a no-brainer. Mmmmh.. You mixing? Prometheus. You tracking and or doing mastering?. EQP-1 Personally I would take EQP-1 all day, and for all steps of production: - Tube stages. - More, bigger and beefier input and out transformers. - A exclusively-dedicated power stage, with CERO chance to bleed in from and/or to out to other devices. - Dual Mono... So M/S operation is easy shit. Awesome content, nice shootout!!!
Both sound great. Am not a fan of rap but man your mix sounds very good. The Prometheus sounds perfect for rap, and I would use the Tegeler for rock, pop and such.
Sounds like the Prometheus unit is just more surgical…I already have SSL XRACK stereo and mono hardware EQ’s for the surgical stuff and the tube warmth from the Tegeler adds more analog mojo.
These are both great EQs. But for use on the mixbus, I prefer the Prometheus. That solid state low end is a lot tighter, deeper and more focused. The Tegeler still has a really pretty top end!
Prometheus is a very underrated and quality eq. Definitely better than the EQP-1. Maybe even up there with the real expensive stuff. Have you seen the SPL PQ hardware vs plugin video? I cannot reliably tell them apart with my eyes closed and screen blocked. That plugin seemed on par with the Massive Passive hardware at Access Analog when I tried it. Curious what your opinion is. I think getting Hyperion and Prometheus may be a better idea than spending over 5k on a hardware PQ. They are about as good as anything in the Zenpro clipalator. Thanks for the video!
nice shootout . For the sample track the Eq1 tilted the spectrum better with low end boost and the top end was also a lot smoother and tighter. Wes sounds a bit too broad in top end. But Wes could have advantages elsewhere.
Tube circuit wins, solid state circuit has more saturation. 5:18 1 Prometheus 2 original 3 Tegeler 7:39 Again tube circuit 🏆 10:33 1 Prometheus 2 Tegeler 3 Original mix tonal balance perfect. 14:29 opss im wrong 😂 This type of situation in mix bus Tegeler is more natural shows the point of view.
Prometheus for me. I love how it´s sound and attitude "pops out", compared to the EQP.
I prefer prometheus, + plus it has a mid-side matrix, THD on board and an instant recall which is very nice addition to pultec.

Thanks for the comment man! I do agree with most of what you said. 🙏🏻

Fair enough!

I love the Wesaudio stuff. Can you link the video on the PQ?

Yes sir
Low End from Wes, Highend from Tegeler.

Whoa 🔥🙏🏾
😂
I prefer Tegeler EQP-1, the sound is "bigger" - "more powerful" with more impact
💯 WesAudio
🏴☠️
Wesaudio smaller 🎉
Weadudio recall🎉

test 100% rigged on the blind test the eqp was over boosted on the top end . when you was turning the nobs the eqp constantly sounded better.
EQP better
Why?
