    I wonder how the Adventists ignore Genesis 9:3, where God says, "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything." P.S.: love the song! So great!

      I'm not particularly familiar with the bible but I assumed the Adventists are taken with the phrase - and the lion will lie down with the lamb. It's the antithesis of nature, of course.

      Along with 1 Timothy 4:1-5 - 1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

    This was a great talk by Belinda Fettke, and it articulates something that people, who have dealt with low fat/plant based advocates , have long suspected. Their nearly fanatical vitriol with regards to the consumption of animal flesh and animal products, is never the product of well thought out science, as much as it is driven by a sympathy towards animal welfare or environmental concerns. All their talk of the health benefits of plant based diet is a smoke screen to mask their real agenda of environmentalism and animal welfare - ideas which they fear most people will not find very compelling.

      Thanks for your support Drake. Amazing to think I was just trying to work out why Gary was 'Silenced' by the AHPRA medical board of Tasmania for recommending Low Carb Healthy Fat principles to patients with metabolic disease, weight-related joint issues and diabetes complications. I had no idea the 'grains are good, meat is bad' message stemmed from a religious ideology and the Vegan movement.

      Yet... properly managed, raising animal for food can actually *restore* degraded environments. After all, animals and plant communities co-evolved and need each other to thrive.
      - A study in Africa removed giraffes from an area with acacia trees, their natural food. Instead of thriving, as expected, the trees declined without the giraffes.
      - Allan Savory of the Savory Institute and Holistic Management Int'l have demonstrated that restoring the natural relationship between grazing livestock, the plants and the soil benefits all three. Soil carbon rises, along with overall fertility. Plant communities thrive, with growth and diversity increasing. The water cycle is restored, with springs and streams long dried up flowing again. And the soil food web itself thrives, making the minerals in the soil available for use by plants.
      Together, these communities build topsoils, in years, not thousands, as geologists claim. This has all been well documented.
      The animals thrive, as well as the plants - in most cases eliminating the need for chemical fly control, internal parasite control, vaccines, antibiotics, etc.
      This system works even better when different species are either managed together or follow each other across the landscape: cattle, sheep, goats, poultry. White Oak Pastures of Georgia, USA calls this the 'Serengeti system', though the movement of various species across plains, meadows, and savannas (grasslands dotted with trees and shrubs) was found around the world.
      Would you be surprised to learn that family owned farms that practice these natural approaches to animal and environmental health are being increasingly harassed in America? Support your local farmers! And consider a tax-deductible donation to the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund Foundation.

      @@BelindaFettke: Yes, I definitely agree that the current day origins of the vegetarian movement are in evangelical Christianity. However, although evangelicals, charismatics, SDAs & their fellow travellers would probably never admit it, I think the origins are even earlier, in Catholicism. Think of Catholicism back in the old days (approx pre 1970) when Catholics didn't eat meat on Fridays or Ash Wednesday. Even earlier than that, they were entirely vegan during Lent, as Coptic Christians still are. So that is putting the religious origins of vegetarianism & veganism right back to the Classical period.

    • @resourcedragon
      @resourcedragon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For Drake Santiago: I think women can be persuaded to the animal welfare part of the vegan agenda quite easily. (My understanding is that about 75% of vegans are female & the rest are male.) When men are persuaded to be vegan, they are more likely to swallow (yes, really bad pun intended) the "health" message. The environmental message is a relative late comer to the propaganda triumvirate.

It was supposed to stop masturbation and lustful thinking!!! What a shame. Most English speaking countries were dubbed and followed Kelloggs horrific circumcision propaganda. Even to this very day, parents who now find out that this surgery on a newborn was absolutely unnecessary will still cling to the false information: "We did it for sanitary reasons!"

    In Islam, you technically cannot be vegan as unnecessary self-denial is considered wrong. The early Arab Muslims would primarily eat meat so eating meat has become an important part of our lives. Fasting is highly promoted for spiritual (including sexual restraint) and health benefits and actually we fast quite often other than the 30 days of fasting in the month of Ramadan. Sadly, mixing of other religious ideologies with science has certainly led to disastrous consequences. Thankfully Islam is fully supportive and preaches the right dietary principles which are backed by sound evidence-based science.

    Carbs don't hurt about 30% of the population like they do the rest of us. Foods affect each of us a little differently. Mixtures of foods affect individuals differently. Some can have 200 grams of carbs a day with minimal effect. Others get sick on 50 grams a day.

      Remember that many people can eat lots of carbs when young, but age out of it. And of course the TOFIs are in deep doo doo, because they think and their doctor agrees they are doing fine. Until the blood sugar start rising and of course most docs don't screen for insulin levels. A person can have controlled sugars, but high insulin levels. This is worst than getting early warning. Just like telling people they have food on their face is better for them than letting them walk around with it.

    Belinda, you have researched with intent to find evidence that matches your pre-ordained narrative.
    - Why don't you research the relative D.C. lobbyist and donation activity of the SDA and the livestock industry?
    - You make a giant leap from early SDA history to 1988, when vegetarianism was finally supported by the guidelines. Prior to this it wasn't, with significant prejudice.
    - over the period you discuss, you do not address the balance of scientific evidence to eat less animal produce, and more plant.
    To date, the USDA guidelines and ADA still lag the world in recommended legume, vegetable, and fruit intake, despite a lack of fiber being the no.1 deficit of the US diet that has the most potential to ease the growing rate of overweight Americans.

      I had 20 minutes to present 3 years of research. I know I skipped big chunks. Please understand I am not anti religion, nor anti SDA. As you would appreciate, I started this investigation simply trying to work out why the Tasmanian medical board investigated Gary for 2 1/2 years for talking about the benefits of Low Carb Healthy Fat principles. I never expected to find links to a church ideology. I assumed it would be the sugar industry with Coca-Cola funding and tried many times to prove this. My husband has improved his health and many of his patients have taken back control of their lives.
      My research has led me to some incredible Adventists who have done extraordinary missionary work and no doubt, saved many lives. I also really struggled with sharing the information I had gathered. Neither Gary, nor I spoke about my findings to anyone for 2 years.
      In Australia there is no doubt in my mind that the cereal food company, Sanitarium (which is wholly owned by the Adventist church) sponsors and partners with Associations (including the Dietitians Association of Australia, the Heart Foundation, the Cancer Council and Diabetes Australia) which protect the dietary and health guidelines promoting Wholegrain Plant-based diets. The 'grains are good, meat is bad' message is fiercely protected here in Australia. My husband has been given a Life-long non-appellable ban from talking to his patients about reducing sugar, lowering carbohydrates (especially processed carbohydrates and breakfast cereals) and reintroducing healthy saturated animal proteins and fats.
      I want to clear Gary's name and allow other health professionals to be able to safely recommend LCHF to people without the fear of regulation. When it is written into the guidelines, along with vegetarian, flexitarian and vegan options I will be quiet.

    Haha she acts as if meat and dairy aren’t extremely subsidized by the government. As if the American diet isn’t plagued by processed meats and dairy products. Btw, tell me what exactly is the point of eating dairy products?? Surprised she didn’t say anything about eggs XD. Why add religion into this seriously? As if people already don’t justify meat eating by saying god made them for us... what can’t you get from a vegan diet that you can on meat and dairy? B12? Haha. If you criticize officials of having conflicts of interest, please take a step back and look at the industry you’re supporting. There are endless amounts of information online preaching that meat, dairy, eggs are good for you. Look at the funding. Eggs literally cannot be labelled as healthy legally. By the way, people in Eastern countries are seeing higher rates of obesity and health issues because of an increasing adoption of a western diet, high in animal products. Go figure.

    • @MarkVA71
      @MarkVA71 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Western diets are high carb and highly processed mostly because of what she was discussing. Don't blame the animal products for what the bread and fries cooked in vegetable oil did.

      There are several non-dairy / reduced dairy LCHF advocates. It depends on tolerance which can change with gut health in some cases.
      As for eggs, your reference is at least 30 years old. The health benefits of eggs is now well established and in particular the yolk.
      The damage dome by the western diet is because of processed food and high carbohydrate content and in particular resulting in insulin resistance compounded by fructose effecting liver and pancreas function - not because people are eating meat. Starch in particular in doing most of the damage.

      Raw milk literally contains everything you need to be healthy, so why wouldn't you drink it? Vitamins A, B12, B6, D, F, creatine, heme-iron, amino-acids, saturated fat, cholesterol and more doesn't exist or is hard to get on a vegan diet. All of that is found in animal products, and all of it is bio-available. What do you think is more healthy? Use your brain.

      Eggs cannot be labled as healthy because they are produced by factory farmed sick chickens. This is why they cannot be healthy. Farm fresh eggs by healthy chickens are indeed healthy. Take your own advice and di better research and stop babbling regurgitated information. 💁

    In fact, voluntary vegans (as opposed to vegans by necessity) are far fewer in number than low carb, meat- including advocates. Christianity, it's well understood, was responsible for the exponential growth in meat consumption and increases in chronic disease among richer classes. As mentioned in this talk, Eastern societies have never formally excluded meat. The British and US governments promote the belief that humans, although primates, are omnivores - a primate apart. I personally have never met anyone who exclusively purchases organic meat and assures herself that no cruelty was involved. Of course, the only viable defence of meat eating speaks out against the more than 99% of meat and meat products made available through cruelty. Defence of meat is a nonstarter if it fails to immediately direct the hearer to ethical sources, which are few and far between, and obviously cannot currently support much increase in demand. As a vegan, I too am low carb. My diet is almost exclusively raw, gluten-free, oil-free, sugar-free, nut and seed-based with about a two or three hour eating window. I deregistered from the NHS years ago, and am healthy. Meat, admittedly, got incorporated into the prehistoric human diet as a survivalist measure no doubt affecting our development in various ways. Science, however, increasingly shows that short-term favourable outcomes do not imply longterm benefits. Our protein requirements are surprisingly low. Meat-eaters and carnivores cannot point to communities associated with youthful appearance and/or longevity.
