I don't blame you in first thinking Funny Bone and Hot Dog were related, they are both very stereotypical dogs with their personalities. Also, something that irks me about Skylanders lore is that it rarely connects. Sometimes it feels like the writers just throw stuff at the wall haphazardly and it makes it feel a little bloated.
Fun fact: In the wiki, it says Skylands is the center of the universe, "connected to all worlds in the cosmos." That's probably how Earth culture and Earth adjacent animals started popping up. (the synchronization celebration every 20 years is more likely, but that's lame)
@@trapx5909 multiple different books claim the same things, that Skylands is nigh infinite and that it's at the center of the universe, another possible explanation for as to why the different cultures appear in Skylands could be the Ancients themselves, they were still explorers and only disappeared from Skylands a thousand years before SSA, it's entirely possible they brought those cultures back with them from their travels to Earth, or even the exact opposite, that Skylands influenced the cultures and religions found on Earth, alas we'll never truly know, it all could still be a complete coincidence or something planned by the Ancients for thousands of years, with little to no stories about them it's hard to tell

@Folia.. in superchargers, it's stated that the Ancients disappeared after they sealed the Darkness within the dark Rift Engine, and long after, in the time of the Portal Masters, with the Arkeyans and first heroes (it says Skylanders, but I think that's because the book is cursed and the Skylanders are in it, not because the skylanders were there), the Darkness is beaten again. That happened before the Giants, which took place 10,000 years ago. If it didn't, why do the ancients not try to stop the Arkeyans during their attempt at domination? Why didn't they fight Nefarion? Why are the Arkeyans fighting the Darkness if all but one (or two maybe?) lived after the Giants beat the king, and the good ones died out? Also, in Spyro's backstory, it's stated that THE Ancients wrote about Spyro, not just that the scrolls were ancient. And in Imaginators, there are fossils of the Ancients in the cradle of creation, and if fossilization works like it does on earth, that would mean they died out at least 10,000 years ago. (I might also be stupid, so tell me if I am)

It's never said they didn't, it wasn't always the Portal Masters fighting, hell the Arkeyan Empire was defeated by the free magicians of Skylands as well, it's entirely possible some of them were Ancients simply by the virtue of us not knowing that much about them, Brain could be an adept user of Mind Magic and possibly one of the oldest ones but again, there's nothing saying the others were the exact same, they still used crystals to boost their mind's capabilities according to Blastermind's bio for a reason, that's something really important to remember, the Ancients were a powerful race, but not all powerful, they didn't even discover at least one of the elements initially, instead the Arkeyans were the ones who discovered the Tech element according to the Book of Magic and Tech, so assuming they aren't all powerful it also might be possible even the Ancients forgot the location of the Core of Light (my personal head canon is that the location was lost to all as all the Skylanders and most Portal Masters were wiped out by Nefarion). It's also worth noting that the "age of the Portal Masters" can pretty much mean anything as because of Chronobones we can assume the Portal Masters existed for as long as Skylands existed Also, we can also assume that the Ancients eventually chose to have a completely passive role to Skylands, becoming observers like Octavius, though I dislike that take. As for Spyro, again, I did say they were ancient scrolls and I meant they were scrolls possibly written by the Ancients themselves, I know what I said, but in Skylands certain things can happen extremely fast or extremely slow, for instance most races seem to age for far longer than us humans, while on another hand technology and progress happened way faster because of magic, so Ancient in this context truly can mean anything from the beginning of Skylands to 1000 years before SSA. And you're by no means stupid, let's get that cleared, this is just a really convoluted and confusing topic. My headcannon is ten gods created skylands as a planet with a magic core keeping the islands and atmosphere stable despite it being probably the most unique planet in the universe and not obeying the rules of what a planet can be. Night is simply a creation of the god of the dark element. Who keeps one half of the planet permanently in darkness, just like normal planets.

I’ve always assumed that every Skylander (at least every core) was recruited before Spyro’s Adventure. This is because the novels take place before Kaos destroys the Core of Light in Spyro’s Adventure and we see Core Skylanders from later games in the novels. I think every Core Skylander was present for the discussion of the Core of Light and we just didn’t find them on Earth until each game came out.

alright, that's my cue 1. the mythologies and faiths found on Earth don't appear in Skylands in any way shape or form, only creatures and cultures inspired by them, despite there being Storm Giants there is no Zeus, despite there being Ninjas there is no Japan in Skylands and stuff like that, the biggest examples of this are Trolls and Cyclopes, possibly the most detached races from their source material as in proper myths for instance Cyclopes are man-eating giants or blacksmiths, and Trolls in norse myths or fairy tales can be anything from powerful giant sorcerers to dumb man eating brutes 2. the reason why there are this many races in Skylands is how Skylands works as a setting, it not only is practically endless meaning practically every possibility for a race might happen with enough time, but it also does not follow the same physics we know of from Earth due it being practically powered and maintained by magic, every single thing in Skylands has magic and without it they wouldn't even exist in the first place, this is the exact reason why the Skylanders appear as simple figures in our world, cause there's little to no magic for them to exist, combined that with the fact Skylands was created by the Ancients and you can see at least somewhat how certain races came to be, applying proper evolution and logic unfortunately doesn't really work here despite being a fun topic to talk about and theorize on 3. Skylands has seasons because of magic, there are at least two instances of either a race or an artefact controlling the seasons and on top of that another possible three of controlling the weather itself, those istances being the entire race of Storm Giants who are literally tasked with keeping to the seasons, the Storm Sword from Thunderbolt's bio said to do the same thing, Whirlwind's race of dragons, the Cloud Dragon from Gusto's bio and the Cloudbreather from Superchargers respectively, to pardon the comparison the seasons and even simply nature in Skylands works similarly to how it is depicted in the Disney Fairies franchise, there are certain spirits/creatures doing certain things to maintain the balance of nature, some control the day and night cycle, some keep to the plants, others control the weather, that's at least to me what is implied to happen in Skylands 4. there is nothing akin to a "Core of Skylands", it has technically no beginning nor end, it's just an endless sky with floating islands 5. all the Skylanders from before Superchargers (with maybe Knight Light and Knight Mare being an exception) were seemingly recruited by Eon or other Portal Masters in the case of Giants before SSA happened, in the case of the Cores this is directly confirmed by the Mask of Power series of books which all happen before SSA 6.
