    Hello there! Yes, I finally finished my layout update video. Hopefully everyone enjoyed my Star Wars opening. If you're not having fun in this hobby than you're doing it wrong 😀- Thanks for watching folks!

    Looking quite professional. Opened up nicely. My all time favorite is that Worlds Fair Subway sitting on the new bridge. The P40 Warhawk is doing its job flying watch. Great show....thanks Darth ! 😁

    Great layout update, can't wait to see final result. We use to drag race on Ogden Ave, back in the late 60's. I'm showing age.

    Most fun and cool railroaders spice up their life with star wars. Space Balls also😂🤣

    You have done a lot of work to the layout. It looks good. Having the broader curves will make you so much happier.
    I like what you said about the layout. Building scale is fine. At the same time you want to do what makes you happy. Super detailed scenes are not for me either. A fun scale scene is more enjoyable for me. That’s the great thing about trains, you can build your own world.
    Just a thought for your back corner… Since the land out there doesn’t really lend well to mountains, why not do a taller structure to hide that corner and the backdrop seam. Maybe a taller grain silo or a multi-story warehouse. Take a look at the Korber kits from Mr. Muffins. I have been through Chicago a few times on my way to my wife’s birth town of LaCrosse, WI, and tall trees or a tall hill might look out of place.
    Happy railroading!

      Thank you Grey Fox! love your idea about filling the corner with a taller piece to create a more visual transition between the corners.

    Hello there! ✋😉👍
    Fantastic update, Matt! Thank you for sharing, and I love the additions. I’m a big fan of the rust-colored bridge and the “Midwest” scene! Looking forward to seeing more updates as you continue your scenery, and if I make it to the Chicago area again soon, I may need to bring one of my engines (or three!) if you’d like some “guest locomotives” to West Chicago Model Railroad!

    Wow, Matt, you've made some great progress! Your selection of buildings and their placement really works well, and the passenger station looks great! I am wondering if perhaps a couple of tall skyscraper or warehouse flats/shadow boxes in the back corner would look good? I'm not sure how much space is available back in the corner, but just a thought. Looking, good, Matt! Bill B.

      Thank you Bill, I have been looking at warehouse flats. In fact I have one from PGH that I have been using as a test.

    Thanks for another video. Your passenger station really looks great, a fine job! I noticed the road you put in, that too is looking good and I agree, cut the striping, LOL. Keep up the great work, landscaping is my favorite part of the hobby, BTW I don’t recall seeing any mountains in these parts of the woods but it’s your layout and if you want the burbs to have a mountain, then it shall be done, I won’t climb it but I’ll look at it, right here, LOL Ron

    • @wcmodelrailroad
      @wcmodelrailroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ronald, and yes I have been hesitant about a mountain since this is technically a Chicago Area themed layout. I love landscaping as well, just not the painting.

      @@wcmodelrailroad Painting is pretty easy, just thin out the colors and for weathering too.
      My daughter just bought me a super cool airbrush kit, can’t wait to use it on my next project of track, engine & rolling stock.
      Have fun with it no matter what. Ron

    Hey Mat love the video especially when you showed where your table was and the expansion you put on I’ve been doing the same thing every time I think I’m ready to start adding the scenery I make another expansion just added an O-60 inch outer loop so I can run bigger engines, i’m also binge listening to your podcast which I recently discovered also I love it

    • @wcmodelrailroad
      @wcmodelrailroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm really curious on your experience with the new O60 curve you installed. For me it's been just an absolute game changer. Thank you for listening to the podcast!

      @@wcmodelrailroad So far I’m loving it most of my trains will run on O 36 but they do look more natural running on the O 60 now I’m on the hunt for a Norfolk and western 611 which I had the privilege of riding in the cab at Strausberg last year I’m pretty sure the version I want runs on 0 54

    Congrats, Matt. Looking good. I have a couple questions for you. 1) what is that building next door to your theater? And 2) who printed your backdrops? Thanks.

    • @wcmodelrailroad
      @wcmodelrailroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you M H. The building next to the theater is the Menards Hobby Shop which is one of their older models. The backdrop was purchased from www.trainjunkies.com/ who was really great to work with and will do custom work as well.

    What thickness did you use on the station platform

      1/8 thick balsa wood. Thanks for watching!

    Where in the world did you get the blues brothers mobile?
    I so need one

    • @wcmodelrailroad
      @wcmodelrailroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vintage Renewed, these are made by a company called Greenlight Collectibles. If you search up "Greenlight Hollywood 1:43 The Blues Brothers" you should be able to find one. They can be a bit on the expensive side, but I can tell you they are not Junk and made very well.
