How to Make a Friday the 13th Part 7 "Split" Mask

- I didn't want to just do a typical Friday the 13th Part 7 mask, so I decided to make a version that looks like the moment right before the mask breaks in half in the film. If you watch the movie, you'll notice the look of the mask changes at least 3 times through the film, especially the one used for the breakaway scene, SO I decided to combine a little bit of all of them as well as my own color/texture preferences. NO this doesn't match the film precisely, but it's how I wanted it to look. Just wanted to explain myself for the nitpickers who will have issues with this one. Haha.

In terms of special effects, Part VII has got to be one of my favorites; great job of recreating the mask! Also, in terms of Kane Hodder's ability to convey a lot with body language his performance in this one was amazing.

The shape of the mask is fantastic and in general the look of the mask is truly great. But I just think that it is not so much accurate to the movie, the painting is too brownish and it's like kind of rusty and the mask from part 7 was not like that... Your previous video with painting the part 7 mask 4 years ago I think was better depending on how the mask was looking painted... But the shape is better in the one over here...

Is it necessary to use the grey primer under the white? Is it to make the mask an off white color or just to prep the mask for acrylic paint?
Primer is definitely optional. I use it for a couple reasons, the primary one is extra insurance that the base coat of color will stick, but if you use a quality spray paint or "Paint + Primer" I'm sure it's fine. I'm just paranoid. I also like any added layer of paint to give the mask some weight and more substantial feel, as crazy as that may sound.

Hey big hush! You might have been asked this question already but where did you get the name big hush?
In high school I was looking for a new rap name. I had been going by "G-Man" which wasn't very clever. lol. A buddy said "How bout Hush? You never really talk much anyway." and it was perfect. I tend to be real quiet and introverted most of the time. I added "Big" because it sounded cool and several of my favorite artists at the time were Big-something: Big Hawk, Big Moe, etc.
