- Berengaria is a NASTY character (as well as number 1 waifu) in Unicorn Overlord, and my build for her has been hysterically strong. So, I decided to share it with all of you.

Similar setup for me. Shes on the front to get attacked alot triggering painbringer. shes an evade tank so she dodges everything. Then lives of the death spin->vicious torment chain to replenish her PP for more sanguine pursuit/painbringer while keeping enemies on stun.
i run the king's axe for more stats, mirage greatshield, royal scarf and a carnelian pendant.
On my first playthrough and got her a few stages back. Currently using a her in formation with Lex in front and in the back a swordfighter and a shaman. So far I like using Berengaria in my army a lot. I'll definitly try this build.
Evade Ren is fun. I do think building her for damage is my preference. Primarily because her actually taking damage is fine as she heals it off with sanguine. Additionally because comps I run with her are so heavy on blind and stun sources, enemies aren't getting attacks off much. That way can get her to have max AP to stunlock and burn everyone down.
My favorite mirage shield holder is a shieldshooter in the front row.
Ultimately I think the core takeaway is Mirage shield is crazy broken and anyone you put it on, will absolutely benefit. Oh! And if you ever decide to move Ren off of evade tank, her with a druid with high initiative and the dust staff that blinds everyone for 3 AP is a wonderful combo to enable high DMG for Ren while not doubling up on stuns. So even when they are unstunned, they miss their attack anyway. Also highly recommend werefoxes with Ren for more pursuits and blind. As well as another dodgy girl
Interesting build. Good alternative to using a Scout as your evade tank. I was thinking of setting something like this up for a shield shooter unit in regards to a tank build. Then I could make use of the Heavy shot for +100% damage.
Regarding Gregor, I noticed you had Meteor Slash setup with lowest % HP versus lowest HP.
Berengaria is much, much better soaking damage and being supported with magic protects and heals. She should have /afflicted/ as an activation for her moves that benefit from it, row with 2+ for her death spin, and two tactics for carnage - first targeting the least ap so long as it’s 1 or more, and second targeting the lowest hp target. This if/else will act to try to kill a target when there is no ap left on the enemy team. Pair her with Selvie and you’ll have plenty of afflicted targets who will struggle to deal enough damage that Bere can’t just heal on her own.
Evade tank Berengaria is 100% an anti synergy. She has the best def and m def balance of any great shielder, so make use of it. To be frank, the mirage shield doesn’t really have a great use case imo. The units it equips to have skills that negate the evade, it has a weaker block rate and def than any other in it’s category, and the units themselves have poor evade growths to begin with. You’ll wind up with an average evade rate unless you heavily invest in it gear-wise and there are better uses. Tbh, I haven’t really used Liza in my play through - after giving Selvie a Sandstorm scepter, I decided it was better to just keep the enemy team blinded to eliminate randomness. That and the starless bow are my friends early/mid game.
Without knowing where you acquired that shield the guide is completely useless.

During my restructuring after Bast, I made a poison squad with her, 2 Foxes, a Druid with Poison Curse and Scarlett (kind of just because I wanted her somewhere, she also Ice Conferals to Bern). Rather than EVA tanking herself, this leans more into her affliction techs to hit as hard as possible (thus why she wants to get hit for Painbringer) on top of the poison spread (if you have the Pendants to afford Death Pillars high cost, it's even better). It's been really great going into Albion. Honestly the most consistent squad outside of my invincible Alain unit so far. Anything without a lot of truestrikes doesn't stand a chance, especially at night.
But I need the shield on Liza for my desert bandit money gang 😢

Maybe you can put eye of the warrior princess on the bottom row and give it certain conditions to activate like if there are beastren or enemies with high initiative

I'm not sure this is true, I think it's a French vs English thing? Marquis is pronounced "markee" in French. But the English version is spelled Marquess and pronounced differently. 🤷
If you put a rogue in her squad, you can spam blind and get the buff on death spin every time. Blind also overrides true strike attacks making them even less of an issue
Her brother is Travis, she's pretty much custom built to party with him.
Her unique att/initiative down debuff is awesome. Allows Travis to immediately come in and start poisoning enemies. Which she then follow ups on.
Build the rest of team around that starting duo and you're set.
Btw her passive classes as a debuff so her carnage will do more
Afflicted = status effects
Debug = lower stats
But I'm confused there's some skills that cleanses debuffs which clears status effects and lowered stats?

All afflictions are debuffs, not all debuffs are afflictions

@@GrimMobius wrong. ren proves it herself, if she hits stunned or any other afflicted she does more damage, or u could turn off the death stare and compare if it does less dmg
@@jom.6181how am I wrong? I just said debuffs are both stat decreases and afflictions. Like you said afflictions are just things like stun, poison, burn, freeze. Yeah her kit explicitly says afflictions, but i never said anything about it
Evade is cool, but she’s better as a tank w some boost to defense and guard rate. She still gets dodges, but when hits don’t hurt it’s less of a gamble
Actually the mirage greatshield works just as well on a legionnaire, not sure why you don't think so.
Because a legionnaire is built to absorb damage due to their sky high defense, and they aren't exactly nimble to dodge attacks normally, unlike Berengaria.
@@TitaniumLegman Nah, try it. You'll see that their dodge rate is the same as hers. Literally maybe 5 points difference. And they can cover other units as well.

How do you edit her characteristics if she is a special character? I thought you can only edit mercenaries you recruit in forts?
There's a special mirror you can get from certain missions or secret shops that will let you modify stats and appearance of anybody, including major characters.

I'm currently level 20 and have her on a team with 2 wyvern riders and a cleric(bishop?). Its a flying lawnmower. Its pretty ridiculous and fun to watch the drakes burn things and her stun them. Also I have her with 4 PP and 3/4 AP I think. She has hogged all that equipment. I've seen her spam the spin attack so many times in a row. Meanwhile the cleric in the back is half asleep. Mostly there to resurrect a wyvern rider if somehow one dies...
Well there's ONE thing that can stop her ;)
I've been doing this with Shieldshooters toxic arrows - Highest HP/Prioritize Front Row.
My 4th is a Witch with thermal staff that counter guarding with magic attack and to grant true strike depending on the situation.
Did you take off Eye of the Warrior Princess as its pointless if they can't hit you ? Except those classes that can ignore your frontline and hit your whole back row
I ran her solo in the front with yahna, travis, and selvie in the back
Travis for poison afflicts
Selvie for extra dmg debuffs (on top of warrior princess debuff) + buff magic attack
Yahna for buffed magic dmg and freeze afflicts (usually not necessary)
With the double dmg debuff and healing, she's near immortal and kills because of travis poison lmao
I stuck Mirage Shield on that unique Feathershield, because I read that fliers get 2x evasion against ground units.
Berengaria lost her weight since she left travis for zeronia 😅 She was high and huge in travis’s flashback
Beating rhe last boss and having ren and miriam double pursuing the boss shile having rosalinde and galadamir chain CC the kast boss so that he didnt have a turn until i eoman out of AP
Heros Medallion is better than lapis pendant

Royal Scarf is available in Bastoriza, one of the 1st main quests in Bastoria. Theres also upgrades for other accessories there (like the mercenary gauntlets upgrade is 30% crit rate) as well as the ability to hire werewolves and were owls in promoted form ( 30 honor)
I build her around Sanguine Pursuit. Selvie stacks fire, Travis poison and blind, she herself throws stuns into the mix and Bruno just sweeps and trades with her to tank stronger hitting targets. I think i throw Tatiana into the mix, just so she herself is not slowed down by debuffs and afflictions.
VanillaWare is so based for making the badass hot lady in full armor the best unit.
Yeah, that build is essentially: The Mirage shield build.
The moment I clicked that she would be a good user for it, her efficiency skyrocketed (not that she was bad before). There is truly not much more to do than equipping that shield to her.
In my current playthrough, I'm debating giving that shield to Liza and try to go back to a regular tank build with Ren just because the mirage shield build was just too obscene haha
She's pretty much the only person who can use the mirrorshield(a great shield) effectively that early in the game, so i'm pretty sure most people have her built with it.
where do you get Labrys?
It comes on the second unique Gryphon Knight, Celeste or smth. Can't remember the exact name atm.
I think this is a very bad version of a guard build. I much rather go for guard which makes truestrike not an issue. Not only sanguine pursuit will be better because you will actually lose health and gain it back from life steal. Evasion is not strictly better no, not really. I think this strat is much better on something like a shieldshooter rather than berengaria.
Still worked well while I was using it. 🤷
My "God Squad" is Ren and Virginia in front row and Rotolinde (Spelling?) Sharon and Aramis in the back row. I know that is more uniques than you can use, but that squad is unstoppable.
I have the same team except Miriam and galadamir in the back as support and follow up damage and cc
I like to use the shaman with the staff that sets a row on fire and i use tome of fire on Berengaria. Fire stacks, everything is on fire and death spin gets its boost
Very nice setup but I suggest you change the position of the 2 Swordmaster as best to have as high HP as possible behind Berengaria. Why so? Just in case of a wild rush which Berengaria should be no issue evading but it might hit your swordmaster who is behind her and having high HP might be good in survivability.

If it works then it works. But this build operates in direct counter to her strengths. She does more damage to debuffed enemies, no reason to turn off her start of battle skill. She wants to get hit so she gets buffed and regain ap. When she does get hit she has a greatshield to shrug it off and has a lifesteal. The mirage shield would be better on the other greatshield users, since they don't gain anything from being hit
Her start of battle skill doesn't count as an affliction.
I gave everything to her. She's absolutely badass
You say it's not ideal, but this is the exact squad I used when I first got ahold of Berengaria, and they dominate. Still haven't expanded her unit to five, but I imagine I'd throw in a Viking for the debuff synergy.
The Ren/Aubin combo just melts rows of enemies for me. Doesn't matter how armored or evasive, they clean house.
Even added a Magellan in the back as a certified mint maker of "The Super Tax Bros."

Idk this team seems really inefficient. Why make Berengaria an evade tank if her kit revolves around self-healing and taking damage? It’s anti-synergistic. If you played to her strengths and used a Warlock with Thawing Scepter and a Landsknecht the team would do so much more damage. Sword masters don’t have good strength growths, idk why we wouldn’t use something that actually deals damage without Gamblers Coin.
In practical gameplay it works so 🤷
If you define "works" as only killing 1 enemy unit in combat then sure lol. Have fun with that. @@TitaniumLegman

I'm pretty sure when I read tje description of Painbringer, it didn't specify she has to get hit.
Was that an error in the description?
Yeah, it sounds like that, but the games wording seems to imply that being "attacked" means being hit. I tested it, and pain ringer never proceed when she dodged.

I have not, largely because I haven't had the chance to recruit any werewolves yet.

I'd love to see a video on how you go about creating the kinds of builds, teams, and tactics that you do. I've been playing the game and other than setting my attacks to all hit the lowest HP enemy my tactics are pretty barebones and I've been pretty intimidated from using them. My squads are all just a bunch of good units lumped together and hope it works out and while so far it has I can't help but feel like I'm gonna need to be doing this as I get into the later game and I'm really not sure where to start.
Have you seen my mid-game unit template video featuring my Alain squad? The goal of that video was to explain the process of how I build squads. If you need more guidance than that tho, myself and the community would be happy to help!

It certainly helped me get an idea of what the fundamentals should be and some ideas for how I want to put my squads together going forward. Thanks a bunch. How is it clickbait? 🤔 It's a dodge tank build, and the character using it is on the thumbnail. Seems pretty on point to me.
Technically not wrong as clickbait is something enticing or makes your curious enough to click on said video, but there is nothing wrong with clickbait as long as it’s not misleading.
In this case, the focus is on the character, it’s about a dodge tank build so the text is just a fun way of saying that, there is nothing misleading about the thumbnail. So good clickbait.

The idea of being "baited" into clicking on something llies something negative, that you've been scammed or tricked. But you want to cover of a work to be enticing, to draw attention, otherwise people will pass it by and it will lose its purpose. Calling something like a thumbnail that's honest and does its job clickbait feels weird, don't you think?

A Berengaria build that doesn’t use Deathspin, Warrior Princess or Painbringer? Fucking weird.
My Berengaria unit is what I call my "Brothers and sisters" unit, cuz I have her at the front, Hilda right behind, and Primm and Travis at the back side. Usually, if it appears like I'm gonna lose a battle, I just need to move Travis to the front so he can also draw attacks away from Berengaria and evade them.
