The refresh rate of the camera shooting this vid and the screens are not in sync (they're refreshing at different rates), so it makes it look as though the screens are flashing. They would not appear to flash if you were actually there in the cockpit.
The guy who flew us to and landed us on a glacier (and back) in Alaska (ski plane) was 21! He had an Air Force Academy shirt, which is what you want to see, but when I asked he said his brother went there. This guy had graduated from MIT very shortly before.
