It’s much easier for me to enter a flow state in the morning if I do all of the following:
    1. Take a cold (not very cold) shower the evening before to lower my core temperature and thus fall asleep on time. It’s very hard for me to fall asleep on time if I don’t use cold water to lower my heart rate and core body temperature.
    2. Wake up before most people do because my subconscious is aware when there is a greater social presence around me, and feeling alone makes me feel less distracted. Once I’m surrounded by people, I use some mental energy to adapt a persona that is “friendly”.
    3. Drink coffee, but not too early as Andrew Huberman recommends. And not too often or too much.
    4. Walk. Walk long enough that it becomes painfully boring, then keep walking. When I push past that feeling of being bored is when I start to have unbelievable amounts of creative ideas and problem solving energy. If you have a job in the morning it can be very productive to show up early and stay on your feet rather than sitting down.

    Tips to reach flow 😊
1-pick a time where you know you can concentrate best. Usually the morning is good as your brain is rested after sleep
2- increase the difficulty level of what you are doing gradually
    3- eliminate all distractions beforehand
4- have the right mindset. Have a curious and growth mindset.

I think I reach the flow state during making art, like making sculptures, painting, etc. It feels like a total stillness of mind, like the bottem of an ocean.

You are mistaken. The “zone” was first discovered by Japanese Basket Ball player, Kagami Taiga.

Would like to see a video in which you should a basic & easy project on computational neural science.
    Great video by the way.

to reach Flow while working, I disconnect completely my brain from the outside word, and I start working like a robot, that helps me to end my tasks quickly and and get more free time during the shift to enjoy some funny activities like reading or watching videos. the only thing is when someone disturb me. I feel completely lost.

Loved the video!! even though i do achieve flow while coding doing that in times while anxious has proved difficult. Ill be trying to improve that!!

The ratio of skill vs difficulty is really crucial for the achieving the flow state. Whenever the ratio hits the sweet spot in any time of the day I am able to get into the flow state. That's the automatic part.. but the general deliberate part, for me works during the midnight hours (1-3 am). However, I'm trying reset my schedule towards the morning hours like 6/7 to 8/9 am. The same music, at the beginning the same environment setting i.e. my working glasses and the noise cancelling headphones along with having my phone in DND inside the cupboard.. they help in the process as well.

Love your videos. Have you ever heard of the Taoist concept of Wu Wei? From my reading this is essentially the same as flow. One way to increase your chance of being in flow is to have fitness. Slow is directly proportional to purpose, or so I think.

      Purpose not fitness 😂

I like to play some lofi music before I start programming/studying. Actually playing music is like a trigger for most of my routines

Eliminating distractions is the biggest one for me. If I can calm my environment and get rid of everything that is going to distract me I can be in a flow state for hours.

I experienced it during last stages my preparation for Gate exam .... Like I was preparing simultaneously for 10 subjects and I was in a zone for last 1 month before exam like .... From 4am to 10pm anytime any problems comes my mind just maped the theories, conditions and approaches which can be followed to reach solution side by side calculating the time every approach will take. Now I am in IIT but I will always be amazed , how focus and discipline can make someone superhuman like.

The key is concentration, as it's PERCEIVED match between challenge and skill.

The real question is how to achieve flow during "sprint planning meetings", "daily stand ups", while "assigning action points to agile cards", filling out questionnaires from HR etc. which is most of my job apparently.
Also, fuck anyone who stops by my desk just to say hello, especially if I have headphones on. That's not friendly, that's rude, you're interrupting my flow because you're bored.

Is there any scientific evidence that flow is more related to the right hemisphere?
