The article in The Atlantic at the start of the season noted that they held onto a player an extra day before trading them to save $30,000. Bob Nutting is a savvy, frugal businessman. He's also the worst owner in the history of professional sports.
The Pittsburgh Pirates ownership is awful as much as I love the Pirates I won't go to a home game ever again Nutting is such a cheapskate. If I played baseball and was a free agent there is no way in hell I would sign with the Pirates AKA the current laughingstock of Major League Baseball it's an absolute shame the ownership is fully to blame for this. This team is a clownshow.

Definitely the worst run franchise in baseball, quite possibly in all of the "Big 4" Major League sports. (Cleveland Browns come to mind)
