What were you shocked about ? They treated you very well. Just an FYI , your plastic licence isn’t valid as it is , you need to get an IDP before you go. As for insurance, you won’t have any unless your travel insurance specifically covers motorbikes of 125cc or over , even then , unless Rean has a full motorcycle licence in the uk , you’ll have no cover for anything. Any hospital bills will not be covered. Same applies in Thailand BTW 👍
Your videos have been great but this is a bit of a click baity title given the current situation. The hostel should have let you know where things are. Try the Rio ice cream with lots of pieces of chocolate and the Jaffna crab curry. Also go out to the islands by ferry.

I'm a sri Lankan and I've got British Drivers Licence, whenever I go back home I have to get it international .how I do it I go to AA in Colombo and pay sum of money, not a lot its cheap sos cant remember how much it was. and they will issue you with a blue colour idl. Respect the law of the country mate. International driving licences are valid for driving in Sri Lanka. However UK drivers licence holders have to apply for a Sri Lanka driving licence. To arrange for a local licence, you will need to contact the Department of Motor vehicles. In this case the police officer in charge, officer 53491 can be challenged why he let you go for driving in Sri Lanka with out valid licence.

I’m srilankan national. I’m British permanent resident as well. When I came to srilanka via transit in Germany German police send me back to uk. Because they said I need transit visa to travel my own country. When I booked my ticket Lufthansa airlines never mentioned about transit visa. I never heard this before. I loose all my money. Those people in uk airport really rude. When I see this video I laughed. Srilanka police very kind when they see foreigners. But world not like that

Yes absolutely. She has been terrible for the minority communities. People from the north and east are suffering till this day under the Buddhist extremism. North-east of the island is mainly tamil dominated area and yet there's not a single police whoncan speak anword of tamil. They're all sinhalese. There are 1 army for every 5 tamil civilians occupying privately owned lands for decades. Still reluctant to release the land tonwar affected suffering people. We really appreciate you guys visiting our country during this hardship, but the law is law where ever you go. I believe you know the law better coming from a country where the law is very strict. So everyone has to obey the law of any country they live or go. I accidentally saw your vedio and wanted to watch it to see whether the policeman mistreated you or not, but seems it's the opposite has happened. I realised it watching the full video. I can understand you need more viewers, but not everyone is going to watch your full vedio, so people may misjudge our country and the people with this kind of headings you trying to get more attention to your vedios. I was born in Jaffna but didn’t live there during the worst time. Please educate yourself before visiting this part of the world which had a terrible past. Most of the people who wrote comments claim themselves as Sri Lankan never lived in Jaffna so you shouldn’t trust their word comes from their mouth. All they want is tourist money flowing into their bankrupted nation’s economy to wipe out the debt so that they can continue doing whatever to the under represented people in Sri Lanka specially in minority Tamils and Sinhalese regions. I suggest you visit st. Anne church, you will enjoy there a lot, plus visit historical places and witness the beauty of the beach around. And plus there are a few other places you should visit along this journey, like a wind turbine, places to bath. Etc..
You Need 4 documents while travelling by your own vehicle in Sri Lanka. 1. Your Driving License 2. Revenue License 3. Vehicle Insurance 4. Vehicle Green Test , don't go on riding without these you would be in great trouble if met with and accident.

In Sri Lanka it's a rule, not only the driving license, you have to keep, bellow items when you are driving. If a petrol car the non expired smoke test certificate. Revenue license ( if it's a car you have to photoccopy it and scale down image should past on the upper left side of the windshield. ). And keep the original revenue license. Insurance non expired. ( this is a printed bank ATM card size card).
I also thought that you have been treated badly by policemen in SL, then you talk all good about them in the video. Only then I realized you have been shocked in good way. I am glad that you are enjoying SL. Have a fun guys.

Hi guys, it’s the first video I’ve watched of yours. I have a minor gripe 😬 I know everyone has budgets and everyone has to travel on different budgets. However, I think missing out on Jaffna Fort for the sake of 2 Starbucks coffees was a bit of a mistake. When you look back in 10 years and you reflect about how you were once in Sri Lanka but you never visited the Fort because it cost the amount of a coffee, you will kick yourself. I’m saying this a little bit from experience as well. Just a bit of advice, learn where to scrimp. I know we all value things differently but for the sake of one beer less per night or one coffee less etc, you could easily see and do the things you actually want to do. There’s not too much point in travelling for 10-20 years but window shopping the whole time. By the way, the lady in this duo is fit!!! Just trying to say it as civil and respectful as possible. 🤙

Hey, I'm from the Starbucks, Tim Hortons,Dunkin Donuts... lands(for 1 latte price at these places you can buy a 3* SL dinner man! 🤣) & I also was at & around this Fort behind the Library & the pretty parkette & clock tower across a few times during my few weeks stay-visit (prior to the start of the long civil war times yrs back) & I happily skipped going inside this fort + few other high fee for foreigners places around Columbo too, memory photos just as great, current fort fee sounds bit hefty by SL standard too.., ought to be lower couples fee etc! (you can see few other recent pre Pandemic vloggs w inside views..) by the way I saw English cricket team playing a friendly match at that grounds across the Library from a previous trip too( but nothing beats my 1st Test match watching experience inside London oval grounds, the rubber match against Ausies 🇦🇺🏏🇬🇧2-3 yrs after that SL trip.

In the UK, when you rent a motorized vehicle it’s the renters responsibility to make sure there is proper insurance. Why are you guys surprised when cops in Sri Lanka asked you the same question?
The place they rented out the unit should have briefed you first and foremost about where the documents are kept. Law enforcement has all the right to check documents anytime.
It was too easy lol like we said in the video couldn’t believe how easy it was but luckily the police where cool because definitely could have at least fined us ❤️

Was in Jaffna about 18 months ago just after 2nd lock down. Loved the place, we were literally the only 3 whitemen in town! People were great, food was great, spent a week in the area. Shame you didn't get to Mango's veg restaurant, delicious!

I’m srilankan national. I’m British permanent resident as well. When I came to srilanka via transit in Germany German police send me back to uk. Because they said I need transit visa to travel my own country. When I booked my ticket Lufthansa airlines never mentioned about transit visa. I never heard this before. I loose all my money. Those people in uk airport really rude.
When I see this video I laughed. Srilanka police very kind when they see foreigners. But world not like that
Agreed I’ve never had good dealings from police exempt this officer very kind and helpful British police are the absolute worst and I have had some bad experience with them trust me but there’s no malice in this video we do nothing but praise the officer and the country ❤️🇱🇰

Yes absolutely. She has been terrible for the minority communities. People from the north and east are suffering till this day under the Buddhist extremism. North-east of the island is mainly tamil dominated area and yet there's not a single police whoncan speak anword of tamil. They're all sinhalese. There are 1 army for every 5 tamil civilians occupying privately owned lands for decades. Still reluctant to release the land tonwar affected suffering people. The Rajapakse's committed genocide against the tamils and now abandoned their own people. Curse is a boomerang mother f%#$@$!!!

Please don't give a bad impression to the world with the heading of your vedio. The police officer should be appreciated for doing his job right. Yes, we know you are tourists visiting our country. We really appreciate you guys visiting our country during this hardship, but the law is law where ever you go. I believe you know the law better coming from a country where the law is very strict. So everyone has to obey the law of any country they live or go. I accidentally saw your vedio and wanted to watch it to see whether the policeman mistreated you or not, but seems it's the opposite has happened. I realised it watching the full video. I can understand you need more viewers, but not everyone is going to watch your full vedio, so people may misjudge our country and the people with this kind of headings you trying to get more attention to your vedios. If something nice has happened please don't hesitate to say it directly and please don't try to make other travellers to think twice coming to our country when we need more travellers to be attracted. I was born in Jaffna but didn’t live there during the worst time.
Please educate yourself before visiting this part of the world which had a terrible past.
Most of the people who wrote comments claim themselves as Sri Lankan never lived in Jaffna so you shouldn’t trust their word comes from their mouth. All they want is tourist money flowing into their bankrupted nation’s economy to wipe out the debt so that they can continue doing whatever to the under represented people in Sri Lanka specially in minority Tamils and Sinhalese regions.

I suggest you visit st. Anne church, you will enjoy there a lot, plus visit historical places and witness the beauty of the beach around. And plus there are a few other places you should visit along this journey, like a wind turbine, places to bath. Etc..

You Need 4 documents while travelling by your own vehicle in Sri Lanka. 1. Your Driving License 2. Revenue License 3. Vehicle Insurance 4. Vehicle Green Test , don't go on riding without these you would be in great trouble if met with and accident.
You are very lucky because you're a foreigner as normally the police treat locales like trash. Good luck and happy adventures.

In Sri Lanka it's a rule, not only the driving license, you have to keep, bellow items when you are driving.
If a petrol car the non expired smoke test certificate.
Revenue license ( if it's a car you have to photoccopy it and scale down image should past on the upper left side of the windshield. ).
And keep the original revenue license.
Insurance non expired. ( this is a printed bank ATM card size card).
We were not told all this. 😊❤️🇱🇰

Hi guys, it’s the first video I’ve watched of yours. I have a minor gripe 😬 I know everyone has budgets and everyone has to travel on different budgets. However, I think missing out on Jaffna Fort for the sake of 2 Starbucks coffees was a bit of a mistake.
When you look back in 10 years and you reflect about how you were once in Sri Lanka but you never visited the Fort because it cost the amount of a coffee, you will kick yourself.
I’m saying this a little bit from experience as well. Just a bit of advice, learn where to scrimp. I know we all value things differently but for the sake of one beer less per night or one coffee less etc, you could easily see and do the things you actually want to do.
There’s not too much point in travelling for 10-20 years but window shopping the whole time.
By the way, the lady in this duo is fit!!! Just trying to say it as civil and respectful as possible. 🤙

Hey, I'm from the Starbucks, Tim Hortons,Dunkin Donuts... lands(for 1 latte price at these places you can buy a 3* SL dinner man! 🤣) & I also was at & around this Fort behind the Library & the pretty parkette & clock tower across a few times during my few weeks stay-visit (prior to the start of the long civil war times yrs back) & I happily skipped going inside this fort + few other high fee for foreigners places around Columbo too, memory photos just as great, current fort fee sounds bit hefty by SL standard too.., ought to be lower couples fee etc! (you can see few other recent pre Pandemic vloggs w inside views..) by the way I saw English cricket team playing a friendly match at that grounds across the Library from a previous trip too( but nothing beats my 1st Test match watching experience inside London oval grounds, the rubber match against Ausies 🇦🇺🏏🇬🇧2-3 yrs after that SL trip.

In the UK, when you rent a motorized vehicle it’s the renters responsibility to make sure there is proper insurance. Why are you guys surprised when cops in Sri Lanka asked you the same question?

The place they rented out the unit should have briefed you first and foremost about where the documents are kept. Law enforcement has all the right to check documents anytime.

Was in Jaffna about 18 months ago just after 2nd lock down. Loved the place, we were literally the only 3 whitemen in town! People were great, food was great, spent a week in the area. Shame you didn't get to Mango's veg restaurant, delicious!
