    I am trying to catch a pigeon which has a string wrapped around both feet and a stick in the tangle. I am ordering a fish net but will try your method. I am not fast enough obviously. I have helped 2 others, one stuck in a try by fishing line and another with deep fishing line around both feet. The trust factor has been established via bird seed feeding each day for 3 months. The many other pigeons create a crowd and the are jumpy.

    HOW TO COOK A PUKEKO (or SWAMP HEN).
    First, shoot or strangle your pukeko and then pluck it. Fill a large kerosine tin with water; drop in one large stone and the pukeko. Boil until the stone is soft.
    Then throw away the pukeko and eat the stone. Extremely delicious.

    My mother and I even tried to tame them.I call them wild chicken.
    Their feathers are very soft smooth and slippery.
    Our place has many,looks like free range farm.

    It’s kinda interesting that not only they stay to asses the situation, but they try to attack the predator, most prey birds attacked while foraging just flee and surely don’t stick around for a captured chick, let alone a buddy.

      i know it comes off a bit crummy, but it's meant to help you catch a bird so you can help it (if it's injured, for example)

    Swamphens are my favourite bird and I would get one as a pet (not like I can get them as they are wild) if I could, but not like this though

      Yes, leave it alone. Not exactly the most graceful catch in the second attempt, could've injured or broken a wing. Also what is she feeding them? Bread? Bread is bad for fowl. She needs to respect wildlife.

    Aah don't listen to the whingers. Pukeko are a type of bird that need to be culled now and then as they target other bird eggs and chicks. Not to mention they eat their mates after being hit by a car! And they need to realise Pukeko are resilient and totally fine after.

    • @andezbox
      @andezbox 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only animals that need a good culling are the ones that interfere with everything which has caused all other life on this planet to go out of whack . They also use to and still do eat each other on rare occasions www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2269094/North-Korean-parents-eat-children-driven-mad-hunger-famine-hit-pariah-state.html

      In that case, humans should be culled too, as we have wiped out 60% of animal populations since 1970 and continue to do major harm to this planet. I say we start with you.
