Yeah I'm still around - not much time to do anything but I'm still here and will keep posting as and when I can :-) P.S. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you!
Thank you for showing how to load applications and the boot menu . Now how can you download/load and play games on your ps2 from that usb stick/hdd is it possible ? If so how . I have lets say an ISO file of a game where do i put it in the stick to play it on the ps2
I just tried this 2 hours ago but noticed the original matrix infinitys dont have the Mass option just instant,dvd,dev1,and dev2 so this would only work for modbos sadly
Thanks for the video so can i upgrade the actual opl in the system file ? My2 question is does the ulanchelf work fine ? My 3rd question is this the last version of the boot menu ?
Hi, yes by following this method you can upgrade the apps like OPL to their latest versions. uLaunchELF works perfectly and as far as I'm aware this is the latest version of the menu.
I copied and pasted the latest OPL 1.2.0 and replaced the older OPL 0.9.3....as the filename was same, i didnt edit the file name in the .config, but i edited the "App Desc"...when i inserted the pen drive and booted, i got the menu, when i clicked the OPL Tile, i got the msg Launching OPL 1.2.0, then im getting just a Black screen...file not launching...ive checked it separately, and it launched that time....what could be the issue here?
If it's a Modbo 5.0 then it should have a mass boot option - I'm assuming you have this installed in a fat PS2? Modbo 4.0 and below are very similar to the 5.0 as they're all based off Matrix Infinity firmware, but are missing the mass storage boot option. If it's definitely a Modbo 5.0 then it must be running some form of older firmware from an older device. You can reflash any Modbo 3.0/4.0/5.0 if you have access to a soldering iron and a CH-341A USB programmer to run 5.0 firmware which supports mass storage booting.
Your video is great. I have a question for you. How can I debug the language setting of the game menu so that it shows the game name in the language I want?
Yo man , I have a question , after doing all this , how can you finally play a game on the ps2 . Like you know I have iso files of some games on my computer . Where do I put it on the usb so that I can play them on my ps2 , and where's the game list to access those games I put . Thanks
The modbo 5.0 is a good chip, the software they edited is epic, but very stable. However, when it comes to the v0- v3 ps2s, it would boot to the matrix logo and what not, but wont load any OPL whatsoever.
Hello, I have a Sumulite chip. The device works normally and everything is fine on ps2 regions, but cannot play PlayStation one games or read DVDs. Can I modify it from the Sumulite menu?
I’m curious if using the modbo will allow for the use of the actual on system chip of the ps1, because free mc boot uses the ps2 to emulate the ps1 and I wanted to use the on ps1 chip
The only PS2s to emulate PS1 hardware were the later PPC-based IOP chipset consoles. Anything pre-SCPH-750xx will have the Deckard IOP chip and will use this for PS1 games, which itself was the old PS1 CPU. Modchip or FMCB, won't make a difference.
@@AndrewPaul I have a schp 300001 r and when I looked it up before I was under the impression that the ps1 chip was used by the system and free mc boot would only emulate ps1 using the ps2 chip regardless if you had the ps1 chip on board, that’s why I was asking
hello i have an issue where holding triangle and circle doesnt work where as holding start shows "disabled" and my ps2 runs just fine in general. i dont know why but i cannot access the config menu , could you help me please?
Some Modbo chips have a dodgy firmware on them. Open it up and check to see if it's definitely a Modbo 5. If it is, then you can often re-program the flash chip with the proper firmware with a CH341A and get them going that way.
Thanks for the great work. Is there a way to get said files to boot from a memory card instead of USB? I copied the files using ulaunchelf but it doesn't seem to recognize them. Thanks for all the hard work!
Can I use this method for modbo 4.0 or is there any possibility to suggest me how to boot through usb my opl in memory card I'd crashed in not interested in buying new card so planning to move on with usb stick, I'm not getting proper solution
Hi, Sadly the Modbo 520 was an updated version of the Modbo 2.0 with AR support and thus lacks support for USB booting. The 520 dates from around 2006. The Mass boot mode for direct USB boot was only added to the Modbo 5.0, which itself dates from around 2010.
Mate I literally clicked on one of your videos earlier to see when you last posted. Glad to see your still around. Hope you had a great Xmas

Nice to see you still about. I know life is hectic not just for yourself but everyone. Nice video as always (Phil from wisbech)
Merry Christmas to you and your family and all the best for the new year. Nice video mate thanks.
Cheers mate - same to you :-)

Hi Andrew
i was able to get the boot menu, that's cool, but is it possible to store the config file in the memory card instead of an usb stick ?
Nice video have a great newyear
Same to you mate, thank you :-)
omfg finally a tutorial
Can this be used with a iflash sd mod to access it instead of a usb stick ?
Thanks a lot, dude ❤
do you install mod chips for others?
I have a modhip v1.93 and there is no mass bot what can i do 😢?
Can you Boot off a internal exFat Hard drive with Modbo 5.0? Or does it need to be Fat32?
I just tried this 2 hours ago but noticed the original matrix infinitys dont have the Mass option just instant,dvd,dev1,and dev2 so this would only work for modbos sadly
I'll have a fiddle and see if I can get it working on a proper Infinity 👍
Awesome mod

I have the same problem, did you manage to solve it?
if i have this modchip, i recently got one, and in boot option menu i don t have the mass boot what can i do?

How to change (hd loader 0.8c) boot image and background image..? Pls help me bro❤❤❤❤
Hello, I have a Sumulite chip. The device works normally and everything is fine on ps2 regions, but cannot play PlayStation one games or read DVDs. Can I modify it from the Sumulite menu?
Hi, it should auto play PS1 games (Sumo Lite is basically a Mars Pro clone). I'm assuming you have a PS2 slim there do you?
Thank you very much mister , for link
Enjoy! :-)

thank you for this awesome tutorial, is possible to place these file on the HDD instead of thumb drive
Never tried mate to be honest but I'd be happy to give it a go and report back. My guess is not, but...

I've had a play before now and never managed to get it working from MC Sadly 😞
Thanx master ♥️🇹🇷
i ve missed up Modbo settings a little i switch screen to NTSC mode and when i run my ps2 it gave me just black screen any way to reset it to default
Try to remove the CMOS Battery wait for a while and put it back
You can try a blind switch - let me know if you want to give it a go and I'll give you the button combinations to try and reset it.
Where u get it from?
stuck at the first step, insert usb and loading boot menu lol looks like i have some trouble shooting to do
did not want to recognise 64gb usb, dropped it down and no problem
Make sure it's FAT32 formatted and not exFAT or NTFS.
Can I use this method for modbo 4.0 or is there any possibility to suggest me how to boot through usb my opl in memory card I'd crashed in not interested in buying new card so planning to move on with usb stick, I'm not getting proper solution
Unfortunately USB booting was only implemented in the Modbo 5.0 so this won't work for Modbo 4.0 and earlier mods.
i have the modbo 520 Chip and it doesn´t have boot Mode Mass to choose.
