Man, to think this service has been around for.....9 years, and it all started with the Bx12! There has been some improvements on the various lines that saw conversion, and there are others that have gotten worse(coughM23cough).
This video isn't really about the lines and such, but more about the design changes with the fleet and the aesthetics that came with the conversion from LIMITED service to +Select Bus Service+. We've had scheme changes, to light changes, to sign changes, to most recently, fleet changes over the past 9 years.

As of December 1st, 2017, let me see if I have it right.
B46 and Q70: XD40; Bx6: Xn40; Q44, Q52 and Q53: XD60 and everyone else: Novabus LFSA.
If so, you need to update this because the MTA is bringing in New XD60s to push the LFSAs off the B44 SBS and M15 SBS, which I still wish they didn't. What do you think?

I truly believe the white text and the overall headsign feature on #7453 for Q70 was done beautifully. The amber-colored text with blue background is a-bit hard to read.
why doesn't the s79 have fare machine like the rest of the select bus?
Ridership doesn't warrant them.
All these years, it's been about ridership? If anything, they should make the S40 an SBS.

Can u reupload this with the B44 and B82 and Upcoming M14A/D SBS?
This video wasn't so much about the routes, but more about the fleet. You should probably read the description section of the video. The M14A/M14D will have its own video.

Why do some of the buses have flashing blue lights next to their route signs?
+MicheyJoe - That was a part of how Select Bus Service would be originally. The flashing blue lights would help differentiate between a local bus and SBS.
The reason they dont use them anymore is because of a few things, Staten Islanders would confuse the bus for an emergency service vehicle, and that the color blue was reserved for such vehicles.
This is why we now have blue flashing destination signs.

Because they cut the headways after 8pm(which is the time I tend to use it after work). Service kinda sucks after that time compared to the other crosstown routes.
what is the point of select bus?
Think of it as a poor attempt at trying to implement Bus Rapid Transit.

M15 Local: Very Slow, REALLY Frequent Stops, Not Much Buses
M15 +selectbusservice: Fast, Stops at Important Streets, Lots and lots of buses
True, a poor attempt to make rapid bus transit but at least it's getting better...🤗
