    Thank you! This will be easier and less expensive than the plexiglass and wood frame I was going to try and build.

    Another great video with a great idea, Chuck. Lot less $$ than any alternative. Saw that nano reef and said to myself, "This guy is like me with the cages and tanks bug". I lost everything (and most of the house) after the 3 hurricanes in one year we had here in south Florida. Never replaced all that but you're starting to give me the bug again dude!

      Robert Olesen thanks for the kind words! That sucks about losing your collection to hurricanes, but I feel your pain! I lost my first real reef tank to Hurricane Isabel in 2003, no power for over a week.

      Yup, loss of electricity is what doomed the tanks all right. My Anolis garmani escaped through a loose screen I failed to notice when I put them back in their enclosure after the storms. That wasn't such a bad thing though as now they've established a small population in my old neighborhood to go along with the already present Knights. The Jamaicans are a lot more shy than the Knights but they do show up occasionally, especially in the summer months when they decend from the tree tops more often.

      I'd love to get down to south Florida to see some of these guys "in the wild"!

    • @robertolesen5782
      @robertolesen5782 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're def here along with crested and bark anoles plus brown Basilisks, green iguanas and now tegus down in Homestead. The only downside to the equestris is they do raid bird nests. I doubt germani do that. When my friend at Fairchild was head of the plant collection there he used to shoot them with a pellet rifle until he realized it was hopeless. The Knights are here to stay. Man those smallwoodi are pretty! Hmmm...

    I've been on the fence about getting a screen cage. Love the price, not the screen part. So this is really helpful. Thank you

    The whole point into the mesh cage is for airflow. Its litrally in the name repti 'breeze' good idea tho

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You're right, but the full screen front and top are enough for the types of lizards (anoles mainly) I keep. A chameleon keeper might need to tweak it a bit though.

    • @Ray-ru3pc
      @Ray-ru3pc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      screen front and top provides enough airflow even for a chameleon, especially with lamp fixtures up top

      The humidity in my house changes rapidly beings I'm in Minnesota and I STRUGGLE to keep my chameleons terrarium humidity the same even though I have a fogger and an automated mister. Why is this?

      Awesome! Doesn't do much for humidity (unless you wrap the front and top), but great to keep run off from mistings hitting the wall and floor!

    I actually used a shower liner to somewhat water proof the wood in the enclosure I just made but I never did think about lining it all the way

  • @ivceballos
    @ivceballos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great idea. You could just used the enclosure’s screws to hold it in place.

    Another watch. I have a Knight Anole now in a reptibreeze enclosure. it has a plastic picture frame "glass"on the door and I have a curtain like yours that I need to put on the enclosure. I spray twice a day and it is a Bio active substrate. anyway thank you for sharing your knowledge,

    I have this cage but in the 24x24x48 size and I notice that everyone puts the climbing items starting at the bottom. I want to keep that clear so that I can remove the inserted tub that I purchased for easy clean up. Do you have any ideas how I can somehow anchor everything so it doesn't sit on the floor and I don't have to take the whole thing apart when I clean it every month? Thanks

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and commenting! If you don't mind manipulating (as in slightly damaging) the screen sides and top, you can use wire-ties to secure perches and plants off the bottom. Just thread them through the screen, which will stretch it some, and through holes drilled into perches or along the plastic of plants, vines, etc. Hope that makes sense!

    is it good at keeping in substarte with that mesh there?

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, depending on what it is, it might get caught between the screen and plastic though.

  • @crazyabouthamsters7710

    May I ask does this now keep the humidity in? As I have one and want to use for my crested gecko but not sure ?

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not really going to do much for humidity, since the front and top remain open. This is more to keep water from misting/spraying from going through and soaking the wall or whatever is surrounding the enclosure.

    • @crazyabouthamsters7710
      @crazyabouthamsters7710 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would you recommend this cage for a crested gecko?

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could work, but I think there are better options out there, including using Perlite tubs, that might be more cost effective. The zoomed and exoterra front opening glass enclosures come in a variety of sizes suitable for cresties.

  • @t0ybandit154

    Does it work? Any problems with shedding?

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It work as far as allowing me to mist the whole cage without water going through the screen onto the wall or floor, but as far as humidity since the front is not covered there is no appreciable rise.

  • @veronicapachecoalbornoz426
    @veronicapachecoalbornoz426 ปีที่แล้ว

    So won’t this defeat the purpose of having a screen enclosure? The idea of having a screen enclosure is to make it so the air flows so I don’t see a point to enclosed it in plastic, it wood be easier to just close the sides completely and make then not screen anymore.

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  ปีที่แล้ว

      The goal was to make sure I didn't spray water through the screen into my living room! There's still plenty of ventilation with the entire front and top uncovered though. Thanks for watching!

    is this size big enough for a adult chameleon

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, it would really depend on the species of chameleon. I don't think it is big enough for an adult veiled or panther, but maybe a smaller species.
