- In this video I talk and show you the issues Problems and Shortcoming with the Windows Phone OS, I feel Nokia is doing a great job at the hardware front but it's the software OS issues with the Windows Phone that are holding it back.

If Nokia has chosen Android Platform, It would have been a big hit. Windows OS can never come close with Android or iOS. If you happen to be using a lot of Google apps, you will end up in a mess. All Google services are available for Android & iOS. Power users should stick with either Android or iOS and never even dream of switch to Windows. That was a very good video Ranjit sir.
Sir, I Am Windows Phone User, it has problems but I thought Windows Phones Is Best Than Other. What's Your Opition?
Don't worry WP users...most of these issues will be taken care of by WP 8.1 update due to be released this April
Sergio Goncalves What??!! Do I read it right? LOL!! WP not a smartphone?? You better don't say that elsewhere. People might laugh at you. WP and IOS are actually better and well optimized smartphone OSs. By the way how do you expect MS to bring those google apps in WP 8.1? you must be outta ur mind. Anyway, how about faster IE, here maps, outlook? mytube app actually feels better than official youtube app on android. Also most android users themselves use tube mate instead of youtube app. So, I don't feel the necessity of those "google" apps. And you don't need to be sorry...LOL

Completely agree with you Ranjit. I am using Lumia 1020 (32GB) since a month and facing all the issues except storage issue. One thing I MISS a lot is File Manager. Hope Microsoft will fix it in 8.1 update.

The problem with android is the same than with windows on pc, you have to know how to use it to use it, but when you do, you get what you want, the way you want.

About Gmail, my mom uses a Lumia 510 (WP7.8) as a secondary device, in that, there is option of adding Google Account directly.
You can import contacts and use email easily. Just have to sign in.
W 8.1 update will have a notification center like android and Ios
Quick toggles also for settings
Cortana voice assistant like Iphone siri dis are all confirmed and
we might even get File manager dis one fingers crossed..............!!!!!!!

+Geekyranjit It has been 2 years since you made this comment. Windows Phone 8.1 made the phone much better by adding a notification center, updating speed, etc. Windows 10 Mobile which is coming out soon is horrible and is not doing well.

They did the keyboard right in the first place in WP. And you really don't need blinking leds when you have glance screen 2.0 and the forthcoming notification center. Customization in general is a power/extreme user thing. WP is obviously meant for normal users (for masses) who want smooth UI and OS that is very easy to adopt.
I'm using Nokia Lumia 520 , Man this phone handles so much pressure. I'm not a power user though , asphalt 8 is awesome. JUST AWESOME . I do agree with you on these issues ranjith . I hope you do a lot more wp videos . (y) .

yes the problems u have talked about ARE WRITE... i am currently using the lumia 630 and i am a hardcore gamer..many games like modern combat 5 and temple run oz do not run.. but i have to say about the fluid and fast interface of the windows phone 8.1 really there is no lag like android and games which run on it run pretty well like the asphalt 8..

Those are stupid issuses, i mean this is just silly. why the hell do i need a LED light? and why do you need to scroll your notifications? i just unlock my phone and all my most important apps are on the top so i see everything, or even on the lockscreen. i dont accept those "issuses", they are just silly for me. you cant expect a luma 520 to act like a 1020. i got a HTC 8x and im rly happy with it

I agree with you specially about the bluetooth,wi fi and the other shortcuts but if you change everything that you were saying in this video it will be much more similar to android, what im trying to say the android has already taken all the good stuff :) and the windows is trying to make something different because most of people were bored of android at the time
Point 1 -- You can install the apps on sd card
Point 2 -- apps size larger on windows phone! None of a point in itself, go read the windows central or Microsoft invoice, even a casual (in your terms) person know this that old version acquire more space and updates make equal!
So, your issue 1 of SD card is a total Wrong!!
Point 3 -- Windows phone has Files app from MS Corp. which is the native file manager, with all functionality of writing in files.
Yea, you are right at the physical LED thing, but then again the Glance screen is the unique feature only to windows phones.
Next point-- action center! you can view your whatsapp and all. the folders too, you can view them in folders.
Toggles available too.
LIVE TILES... boring, well people can think that way.. but i don't think so... i keep pinning new things for me on he start screen.. and what matters to me more goes with the wide tile with all the information on screen, even without opening it really!

Have been using the Lumia 620 along with the iPhone as my phone for close to a Year Now.. Agree, There are major improvements that Microsoft need to incorporate in the OS Platform. Hardware of Nokia is the best I have used with all Platforms and OS so far. But you can use Gmail using IMAP without an outlook account..
Physical LED light and a extra microphone should be build at the side of the camera. Another problem is the lack of goole apps as you discussed. A bar user (like me) is facing multiple issues with Windows OS but in another view Nokia and Microsoft are doing good in terms of Hardware and software.
Hi there, I was an Android user (Note 2), I got tired of the interface as every phone in the market are Android base in which i just got basically tired off. I found the windows mobile intriguing and after 6 months till date, I'm still impress. I just hope Nokia won't phase out the idea of updating and improving their windows mobile coz their new O.S on Nokia X are focused so much again on Android. (I have nothing against android, however I hope they can give an equal opportunity to windows too. ) I would like to share with you some issues I have both on the apps and on the 8.1.
Here are my issues: Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows 8.1 and its applications downloaded.
Facebook App:
1. Cannot create album
2. Upon uploading image/s, if your phone goes to stand by or lock mode, it will terminate the upload process. You will only realise this when you reopen the phone
3. Issues with tagging some friends, even they are on your friend list.
4. Doesn't give you an update of your video or image upload status.
Excel:
1. Cannot open password protected excel file.
Windows 8.1
1. No Save As option when downloading email attachment.
2. No default CLOCK APP tile. The ones you need to download in store has overkilling advertising banners..:(
Nokia Luma 1520
1. Tends to Freeze
2. Reception Bar very weak
3. Camera needs to be reset and make sure you check your "Camera Roll" upon clicking to make sure the IMAGE IS SAVED….

You android people are terrible. Even way worse than Apple fans. I remember having android in its prime and it definitely wasn't perfect. It was near the time windows phone was being created. Oh, the many android devices I went through. I remember being one of the first to use both ics and jellybean. They both launched with a BUNCH of issues. Way too many to count. I also remember having when there were barely as much apps on android and people made fun of it. I did like android a lot when it worked and now I'm sure it works very well and would be my preferred choice, but right now I'm rocking my windows phone with NO ISSUES AT ALL. Which is a lot more I can say about MOST of the electronics I have ever owned. Needs a lot of improvement but it is a much newer os. I will wait a bit after windows 8.1 to make SOMEWHAT of a fair judgement.

I have. i was one of the very first people to use it. Back when the Nexus 7 FIRST came out. It was still in its starting stages and I loved everything about it but was still riddled with bugs that I had to take it back. Android is my first choice but due to the circumstances I got a windows phone and to be honest its doing me well. The thing i miss though is the vast selection of apps and the gorgeous os.
Dude there was huge difference between then and now , NO I am not talking about Android performance which indeed had gotten better then IOS is some manner , but rather that we did not had a option at that time , if one had to spend money , he should either buy an Apple and if you dont have enough money then there was no alternative but Android. So when some one said this is what you dont get on android at this price , he could not refer another OS for you , But now we have an alternative and if you have enough money , there is no need for you to compromise to give microsoft a softer time .
i don't miss physical LED light on my lumia 1520 coming from Note 2 as it has feature called glance which shows all the notifications for 5 apps u choose always on the screen. but i agree on every other points you mentioned! hope windows improve on these issues!
Agreed.. i would buy nokia phone only on one condition which is dual boot up(android and windows ) or android OS..
I would recommend and request you to create a video on harmful radiation rays from cell phones and the problems caused to eyes on continuous usage on large screen high resolution screens.. and compare it with different phones brands ..This is something important which many tech reviewers are missing up on..

I agree some of your points but last part Ooops No.. Strictly no.. The stock keypad is awesome no need for any 3rd party keyboards. And it will lead you some security breach on your smartphones. As you aware even in Android phones it will give warning when you try to make third party keyboard as your default one.

HTC TITAN and TITAN II had the led notifications but now that it is a old phone though released in 2012 one of the best phone i have ever used running windows OS and now i have never seen any other brands like NOKIA,SAMSUNG etc having a led functionality
Even though Amoled displays are good for notifications there is still some noticeable battery drain
don't forget the static IP configuration for connecting wifi it is so important ....
One more thing sir no full format video player..Just Share this video to MS...Let them clear thier drawbacks..Very good video sir...

Omg..this is so wrong information. I saw some of ur other reviews and they were good but this video about windows phone is so wrong. You can install apps directly to SD card. You gave up on windows phone? Well the windows phone gave up on you.
Dude. See the date on which this video was posted. January 2014. Long before the update was released in India. Only after that update were many problems were resolved. So, nothing wrong considering the date of posting of the video.

The main problem is with Songs Duplication issue.Plug in to PC and you would get duplicate songs.
also one thing there is no option to copy your phone contact in your sim card..once u copy your sim contact u cant copy it another sim or shame sim this is a big issue also there is no option all phone contact delete one time if you want to delete you have to delete one by one in nokia 620
I personally like the Windows Phone UI but I have a problem with the lack of a robust app store. My brother had the Lumia 920 and the feature he misses the most about the phone is its "Group contacts." All in all, I would say stay away from it.

Hey ranjit I am going to be upgrading my iPhone 4 next month on verizon and wanting to upgrade to android I am going for the galaxy s4 or the moto x. I don't want anything higher then 5 inches since I have small to medium hands what would you recommend?
I own a Samsung Galaxy S Duos and am really disappointed with the user experience, as it lags too often...but I was amazed by the speed and fluidity of the similarly priced Nokia Lumia 520...and that is where Windows Phone outperforms Android...I do agree that there are limitations like the lack of a central notification panel and a file manager, but there are rumours that Windows Phone 8.1 will be released in April, with all these shortcomings rectified..lets wait and see...
Samsung Galaxy S Duos has to be one of the most horrible laggy phones produced by Samsung, it's sad that android get's a bad name coz Samsung as Sasmumg uses the skin called touchwiz on android phones and is prone to be laggy, I would say the newer Sony phones are better and of-course the Nexus line of phones are also not laggy, in the budget range the Moto G is also very good.

Ranjt. -- one other major problem with windows phone is his browser you did not upload any photo on Facebook or any other pc site not mobile version site or app.if you upload a photo on olx on windows phone browser you did not.you check it you didn't open file browser on browser.
i can't log in on any social media apps that i installed. it always said, "API REST CAN'T LOGGED IN RIGHT NOW" help
Ranjit... I bought the Lumia 720 and 520 looking at most of ur videos here man. You convinced me that those were good phones.
But now after using them, i can clearly say that these are probably the worst phones in the market.
The problem is not with Nokia. The problem is with the Windows phone 8 OS.
A simple comparison would be something like - Android and iOS have got their space shuttles into space.. while windows is still deciding about the designing of their shuttle. Its like comparing Gold to dirt. Android and iOS being Gold, while the windows phone 8, being dirt.
dude... The phones u have runs with a 512 mb ram. An android requires atleat 1gb ram to run it smooth. Try 820 and above.. Its better than those phones.. And Lumia 720. I have it.. No ne can compare its battery back up. Its better than any phones in that range...
Like i said man... No problem with the Nokia and their battery addition to this device. The problem is with Windows.
I know its 512 Ram.. so i`m asking anything big from it. I`m referring to the normal ease of use and the unexpected screwups that so easily keep coming up in this device.

Actually in this era of smartphones, the windows phone OS is the worst. Its utter garbage.
It has ruined the name of Nokia.
I`m an iOS and an Android user. So dont tell me about user experience. The windows OS in the nokia is like a rat compared to the lions af android and iOS.
Now, i`m not here to hear progress reports of microsoft, cause i`m sure they are much less than the abuses that microsoft have gotten ever since they came up with this.
Now u can either buy these back from me for half the price... and if u cant... SHUT UR MOUTH!
the connectivity with the system is better in windows phone coz it has given apps in windows 8 os in system to directly do the required changes in the phone. and you have said that "we can't install apps in sd card". i have installed all the apps i have downloaded into my sd card and got installed. and there are allot of apps which androids doesn't have like beamer etc., regarding the lag in the performance always android will have that problem where as a windows won't have the lag problem..
when i connect my phone to my laptop, it does not open the files in my phone. once by luck i opened my files in my phone by connecting to my laptop. i copied many audio songs to my phones music folder and in the memory card, but i cant view them after copying them to my phone. please help me solve this problem

Well you can send the attachments in a fresh mail but not while replying back to any email.
Ranjit today i updated tech preview of win10 but the problem is data connection is always on and in the setting data connection button doesn't work. What should I do??
i am nexus 7 user and have used xperia mini pro before i broke it. now i am using windows 520, i bought it in 7600 rs. First of all I will say, no Samsung phone with 5 mpx camera and 4 inch display available at this prize. I dont want to buy costly phone because I am a rough user and i knw i will broke it soon. so i decided to go for lumia 520. and i m surprised to see that at just 520mb of RAM it has no hangs and lags. my nexus 7 with (2012) has 1 gb of ram and quad core processor but it has a lot of hangs. fluidity of Nokia 520, its camera quality, social hub, maps, mail, private space all things are very impressive, i knw it has less no of app but these inbuilt app are so good that u will not need any. regarding games i wud say if u are game lover i sud buy a android phone with at least 2 gb of ram and quad core processor with at least 4000mah battery, that will cost u around 40000 thousands Rs, then only u can enjoy games along with essential phone feature like calling, chatting with ur frnds, social networking, mailing, and surfing net all day.
Top Feature of windows phone it has no lags such as android phones......
in costly android phones such as samsung galaxy grand also get hang after installing number of apps.... but windows phone not get hanged......
so thumbs up to nokia and microsoft...

I have a lumia 1520 and most of the stuff in this video is no longer so as just about everything has been fixed in the update e.g. swype keyboard, notification centre, file manager etc. Don't know about the LED though. Samsung with their Android platform is getting mullered in profits right now and many don't see a way back for them. That doesn't exactly breed confidence among developers so the future looks quite different from when this video was made. Microsoft is moving the Windows Phone closer to where the high end stuff is done on the desktop and the main thrust should be compatibility across this vacuum such as mapping, music, office, diary etc. Important as always to excel at what is fundamental rather than ducking and diving around other people's hard work and loads of limited/mediocre apps which is what Android seems to be about. I have a lot of stuff loaded in my phone and they have taken 10gb of space with 20gb remaining and still got my 64gb card. I am a power user. Every once in a while, I push everything to skydrive and reinstall from scratch and this frees up oodles of space which takes me about 2 minutes to do with the phone updating at night over the wi fi.

Not at all issues...
"Lack of customization" -- Though android gives the user/developer for a greater level of customization, at the same time it is giving access to some secure components.. And thats why Android needs an Antivirus. Giving access, protecting it with another app is meaningless.. It is a part of security and thats what windows phone is well known for.
Coming to google mail, Windows phone has a good integration of all such account systems. I've seen many windows phone devices working perfectly with the native mail application provided by the OS. Regarding google services, I do Agree because, it is the problem Google has its own reasons. (Good news- Google released their APIs for windows phone platform)

Ranjit, In regard to LED light and central notification I have never come across the issues that you specify, i am using lumia720 from august 2013 very very extensively on daily basis. think you got used to android

***** one other problem even for a casual user is that the music player jumbles up the order of files, even when the files are copied using a windows PC. android does not have this issue. u are forced to create a playlist which again is a tedious process in windows phone.

Nice review! I used Windows phone for about an year n first thing I would like to say is it has very less features compared to android! The features are very very limited like wat ranjeet said how ever it performs well! No lag/freeze... but still I needed so many features which was missing hence I switched to android... definitely happy with it but feeding /hanging is a common problem cos of hell lot of options. I like Microsoft for their desktop systems n office applications n no one can match for that! If you like Google/Microsoft, you really don't have to buy if they come up with shitty products.. people r buying Windows phones , it doesn't indicate they are dumb, it's just that they dont need so many features that r available in android..
I seriously think you should review Windows Phone 8.1 as it is seriously making people getting a negative perception towards Windows Phone.

Hello Sir if possible do a review on latest Windows models like 640 & 640XL which comes under budget phones. Which am personally using from couple of weeks, and i see there is a lot of improvements going on under the hood and outside, and i think these can give some competition to Android .

Dumb points and call yourself a geek? Try making a video on android vs iOS. Then see what windows and iOS have in common. It's not about getting bored of the interface, it's about your phone running smooth even after longer duration like a year.
