I lost my grandfather when I was 4 years old, and he was the biggest Gopher fan. Now that I’m 19, all I can say is thank you Coach Fleck for allowing my Grandpa to sit in his favorite recliner up in heaven, putting on his gopher cap and have the biggest smile on his face seeing his favorite win this big of a game. #RTB #Gophernation4life

Digital Dino, your post almost made me cry. Not trying to sound like a wuss, but I relate to what you said so much. My Dad was a huge Gopher fan his entire life, season ticket holder for over 15 years. Died from stage 4 colon cancer 2 years ago. I have 2 of his 4 season tickets now. His biggest dream was to see the Gophers get to the Rose Bowl again, he really wanted to see it happen. It feels like he might have been just a few years short of witnessing it based on the track we’re on right now. During the Penn State game and this Auburn game, all I could picture the entire time was “man I wonder how crazy with excitement my Dad’s going right now seeing this”. I hope your Grandpa and my Dad are up there watching it together with all of the other Gopher fans that can’t be with us right now.
The Gopher's ability to run the ball is the story of the game. No one expected that and it opened up so much of the play-action game. This is the same gopher team that almost lost to Georgia state and South Dakota st. in the beginning of the year. Great job by Fleck and his staff in developing their players over the course of the season. Ski-U-Mah!

@Keej Vaj No it was not. Championship teams win when the chips are down. Ohio State was 16 points ahead and winning a physical battle. Clemson (a team who previously beaten OHIO STATE (31-0) picked it's self off the mat and came back and won the game. They had the character to over come adversity and win the game. Ohio State lacked over coming adversity when they tried to come back and threw an interception...losing 2 times in a row now to Clemson. Or the truth is 4 times in a row historically losing to Clemson. One of the 4 losses caused Woody Hayes and his team of 3 downs and a cloud of dust players his job. Clemson showed why they beat Ohio State 31-0. Clemson is a true team of character who can despite what the refs call can over come adversity and beat teams like Ohio State...a team who depends on 30% of their team coming from the South and has a heavy co-dependence on Texas players to win against teams such a Clemson. Clemson leads the series 4-0.

OSU could not over come adversity a instead threw an interception and lost the game. Also please explain why OSU is 0-4 against Clemson being they are God's gift to college football?

I've never been to Minnesota but I watched every game this year. Coach Fleck is as exciting to watch and as inspirational as the game itself. Congrats Minnesota on a great season!

I am most impressed by the class and character of Minnesota fans and coaches. I was at the game in Tampa. Of course was also impressed by the game strategy and domination. Fleck calls Auburn a blue blood but Minnesota is one of the oldest teams in college football (Older than every team in the SEC besides Kentucky) and plays in two of the oldest rivalries in the sport. It certainly looks like the gophers are on the rise. Congrats: from an Auburn fan.

I was at the game as well. Im from Minnesota and this was my first ever football game that ive been to. Go Gophers! Ill be rowing the boat all summer on our lakes!

Great win against a great team. P.J Fleck is one of the best coaches in my opinion. He gets the very best out of his players. Coaches the game the way it should be. Its like a modern day Bo in my opinion. All about the team, all about the university, and gets the absolute best out of his players and coaching staff. Great win! Congrats guys!
Wow! I am a TN Volunteer fan. There was talk of a Minnisota vs TN Outback bowl. I am so glad we didn't have to play those guys! They are phenominal! We won the Gator Bowl! Congrats on the Outback Bowl!!! :-)))

This Coach put Kalamazoo and my university on the map 3 years ago, and I’m forever grateful for that. Beyond that, he is a genuine coach/teacher to young men. I will forever row the boat!
Great WIN against Auburn! It sucks that the Gophers were in first all year-ahead of Wisconsin by a game or two-and the Badgers go to the Rose Bowl..but, I'll take the win. A season to remember. Looking forward to seeing that Trophy at the Minnesota State Fair!

Quiet Corner, I was a skeptic in the first half of Fleck’s first year here. As of right now, I couldn’t be a bigger Fleck supporter without coming off as a creep. This guy is the real deal. It goes beyond the game of football too. He’s just an all around good guy, from everything I’ve heard about who he is outside of when cameras are rolling. He’s genuine. It is very difficult to find people with the character he has in today’s world. If Minnesota could sign him to a guaranteed lifetime contract, I wouldn’t object. The best thing about him is that I don’t think the money is his main goal. I think he’s one of those people that make their entire life goal to be that they made a serious and lasting impact in bettering this world. He knows his worth, but I do think he’s willing to pass up the biggest paycheck he could grab if it means being where he thinks he’ll have the biggest impact on young adults becoming good contributors to society. Not only that, but I think he sees that Minnesota has been craving a Gopher football team that they can be excited about and proud of. Our state has some of the biggest sports fans, but teams that have given all of us very little to celebrate. I think if he continues the success he had this year as head coach, TCF Bank Stadium will be absolutely packed for every game within 5 years.

I watched almost all of the Gophers games this year. They very easily could have lost their first 3 games. But wow what a year they put together. Beating Penn State and Auburn to end the year. Fantastic season. I'm 50 and this was the best Gophers team I've seen in my life. They should be VERY proud of what the year became and now I hope the young talent out there across the nation gives consideration to playing for the Golden Gophers!!! Top recruits need to consider being a part of this team!!! Row the boat!

I was at that game. Son goes to Auburn, I’m lifelong Penn State fan, so I know how tough the Gophers were going to be. Objectively speaking, the Gophers dominated the game. I think the Auburn fans were a little shocked, but hats off to Minnesota, they came to play and win. Great fans as well. Despite the loss, a great day of college football.
Like Wisconsin....back in the 70s....Minnesota is back!! Class act this guy is to beat a very good Auburn team....the BIG10 is really revitalizing some of the down programs....Indiana...now Minnesota.....tough conference as any from. Top to bottom!!

John, no need to get so angry ...the Gophers still had a great season (a historic season...if that will make you calm down). However, your kidding yourself if you think the Gophers are Co-Big Ten West Champions. No clear thinking person sees the Gophers as Co-Champions. The B1G West Champion was invited to play in the B1G title game and invited to play in the Rose Bowl. Those two invites weren't split between the two Co-Champions. Both invites went to the one school that the B1G recognized as the Big Ten West Champion.
