When they were in packs before they could walk 13 miles. Now that they hike we do anything from 0.5-3 miles in a day. On day hikes we just go and meander but if we are backpacking we pick short trails to keep it fun.
Parents fault for telling the nine year old they're going on a small walk than take you on the path your grandparents went to school on . My dad was terrible he'd pack a single bottle of water and a few Pepsi's. Than wed go on a 9 hours hike in 30° weather. One of my siblings would always throw up or pass out by the end.
Those two holding hands make s my heart warm.
Thank you for showing them fall mine falls a lot too and was beginning to think she was the only one 😂
What’s the furthest hike you’ve done with kids?
Thanks for the transparency!

My nine year old one mile into the five mile trail “I’m tired how much farther?” “Can we turn around???” 😑

I can imagine any predator eyeing up those little snacks.
they are way too small for that. selfish parents
Too small for what LoL
On the contrary, it's much more bénéficient for them than staying at home and being overprotected
Those kids are lucky having parents that do something good with them versus just handing them a cellphone or video game.
