    I ended up breaking the first two plastic clips. Finally figured out I could disconnect the pcv pipe and the two screws holding down the spark plug wire block. After that I had enough play to remove the tubes without touching the clips. I only wanted to replace the plugs and that worked fine for me.

      @@ejsgarage So I have changed my ignition coil, sir, properly, I believe. Yet the car is still running on 3 cylinders only - the only difference is, before the 4th cylinder was sometimes cathing up and sometimes not, but this time, it does not run at all. Spark plugs were done recently by my father-in-law.
      I probably know the reason of all the problems - someone, in the past, was messing with the ignition coil already, so the connecting rail above the coils is broken "between" 1st and 2nd cylinder... so the cables were a bit dirty, even the connectors are not 100% good. So that may be the cause.
      Strange but funny fact - the car starts up on 1st attempt 😀😀

    Removing the air cleaner plastic assembly. Last time another did that service on my Fiat 500, they overtorqued the hardest to reach bolt. It now spins & won't come off. The spark plug wiring connection parts for the plastic release tabs also were broken & damaged too. What a mess that became. The wiring connectors still have sufficient plugging connectivity, it's not an issue just yet.
    Don't panic if that ever happens to you for the hardest to reach bolt. Why ? The plastic air cleaner part has a rubber grommet that one can lubricate with Vaseline or grease and it will remove like the plastic logo cover with it's 4 rubber pressure fittings at that hardest to reach bolt location.
    Here's the solution, just lube the hardest to reach bolt & rubber grommet with Vaseline or grease, loosen the 2 front bolts like you normally would, disconnect he rubber hoses & tubes as well. Then GENTLY lift the entire plastic air cleaner assembly to a tilt to the firewall. Work your hands as close to the hardest to reach/remove bolt and gently pull & pry the air cleaner plastic assembly up. You'll be able to pull the grommet out of the last remaining & hardest to remove bolt location, because it's a larger hole that the grommet is a lipped pressure fit. I figured that one out & fortunately I won't have to replace the intake assembly & air cleaner assembly plastics. The air cleaner plastic assembly will not only remove, but reinstalling it will also slide easily over the lubed rubber grommet. The rest of the procedure is identical for replacing spark plugs for he most part, unless other parts were damaged by the last mechanic that performed the spark plug change service to the vehicle.
    That one hose that goes across the spark plug sensor parts, that should also be removed for ease of access to the spark plugs. And make sure the spark plugs are torqued properly. the last time anyone did that spark plug change on mine, one of the spark plugs had come loose and was backing up & out of the threads. That improper installation & the electrode of the spark plug will get excessively hot and burn/melt off into the cylinder and potentially damage the top of a piston. And that is a catastrophe that could damage the cylinder head & engine. What alerted me was the engine idles rough, the check engine light was coming on as warning & the spark plugs electrodes were almost completely gone on the spark plug that wasn't torqued properly. Other spark plug electrodes were worn excessively. I used NGK's Iridium spark plugs that have longer life than the basic copper spark plugs that were OEM spark plugs. I'll gladly pay a few bucks more for NGK Iridium plugs than have to do this maintenance more often.

      Thank you very much for the tips

    • @jimcamp2423
      @jimcamp2423 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The reason I suggest taking the hose that goes over the spark plug plastic & metal parts, is that the hose connects at one end to the oil fill neck and on the other end to a fitting there that may also fatigue or break/crack. That hose is definitely obstructing the middle 2 spark plug ports.
      What I like about the design of this engine, the spark plugs are installed vertically, not horizontally like other engines. Then there's the fact that the spark plugs are sealed with those plastic pickup assemblies. I recommend doing one spark plug at a time, rather than trying to remove all 4 of them & then trying to figure out which one belongs with the other for a wiring harness connector. The spark plug pickup assemblies themselves should be universal for a cylinder. Bit it does matter what the firing order of the cylinder for ignition order & timing. that was more a problem with other engines that have distributors than this engine. I assume the computer controls the impulses of electricity for firing order and in that case matching the wiring harness connections is just as critical as it would be for getting the order correct for a distributor for delivering spark to the correct cylinder & in proper order. Put it back the way it was essentially & it just works.
      Removing the hose. With the left hand, secure the oil fill neck firmly, then gently wiggle the hose until it comes free & slides off relatively easy. The other end can gently be wiggled off like the one that was secured to the oil fill neck & all spark plugs will be easily accessed to perform the spark plug change, cylinder by cylinder. Once that is done, the hose can be gently reinstalled and the air cleaner plastic part can be reinstalled like it was installed originally. Put the Fiat logo cover back on the air cleaner assembly & start up the car. Should drive like it did before having any problems.
      Another tip, if the check engine light is on, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and that resets the check engine light. If there is something wrong, the check engine light will read that error & come back on. There are other parts external to the spark plug system for sensors & valves that could be an issue. But the car should operate smoothly and perform with an even power for the engine combustion, if that's what the issue was for the spark plugs being worn. That's just a quick method to make sure the check engine light is not lit up. It takes several problem free starts to get that light to go & remain off. Rather than endure that, just easier to disconnect the battery & solve the problem with 1/2 an hour for the electrical to discharge the memory of the check engine light.
      Apologies for being technical, but I want to be as helpful & thorough for those that want to understand what's going on when they turn the ignition to start the car.

If the tire pressure is between 32 and 35 PSI for each tire and the sensor light is still on then the sensors need to be replaced. So maybe number 2 like you said could not be getting good contact. Ill be under the hood again Tues and repost if successful. Update cleaned throttle body, Intake, all hoses, smoke tested no leaks, I even put factory coils instead of the ngk. Ecu reads fine. But after code clearing it lasts about 1 minute then the car violently shakes and engine light flashes. I had the dealer scan it and its still number 2 misfire.
