I don't think they will ever lower the prices but might stop doing price increases as frequently if people would stop purchasing the items. Consumers need to realize they are more powerful than they think... Even when it comes to these crazy luxury brands 🥰
Agree and I've noticed lately that even some new LV products coming out are priced a tad bit lower than I'd expected- it's the only way for them to correct for their mistakes of raising prices too much. They can't go back and lower their prices on items that already exist. They can only release new styles at lower price points to start, (while leaving themselves the option to raise the prices if the items do well.)
I'm glad I had a few already. I only stick to somewhat 'reasonable' 😅 LVs, Gucci and YSL items. I started late(2021) and the FOMO died down just last month when I got my small Marmont and small Lou2. I even need to let go of almost half of what I have now so I can get my money back and just enjoy a curated and easy to maintain collection. I will just admire from afar I had my fill.
Out there, there are people surprised at you for paying £4,500 for the Chanel jumbo because they bought one when it cost £1,800 or £2,600… people new to luxury will buy it at today’s price because that’s just what it is. They want it, they’ll buy it. It doesn’t matter to them what it cost 6 - 7 years ago. If we have bought luxury previously and had experience of owning a dream bag, we baulk at today’s prices and are probably getting to the stage of seeing designs repeated/rehashed. We don’t find things exciting or aspirational as we once did so we stop buying or slow down a lot. We aren’t the target market now we’ve been wrung dry. They need fresh meat 😅.
Love this! So true. It’s all relative. For people new to luxury the prices are what they are. They don’t remember the old prices. I feel ripped off because I know what I paid years ago. Love this comment.
Great topic as always! The prices take away the joy and fun. I feel guilty and ripped off instead of happy and these are no good feelings. So I won‘t be buying any more very expensive luxury bags any time soon. It brings me far more joy to buy a very good quality bag from Mulberry or Coach at the moment, although I could still afford the more expensive ones. 🤗
I love mulberry and got quite a few living in York with a store/outlet 5 min away from my house...but looking at some prices now, I cannot get myself to buy another alexa or bayswater, my favorites...😢
I'm catching up on TH-cam videos and yes these price increases are crazy! I'm not sure if it helps but the small Lady D-Joy was around $ 5300 Canadian and after the price increase it is $ 6100 Canadian (same price as the medium D-joy before the price increase!). So true, if it is worth it to you then buy if not, don't. On the topic of the mini Lady Dior, another TH-camr had mentioned the Marc Jacobs micro tote is about the same size as mini Lady Dior which it is if someone was looking for an alternative to that bag which you can also sometimes get a discount. In fact, the Marc Jacobs is a bit wider. Great video. Xx
I don’t mind the price increases as much as Dior as I think their quality is beautiful! But overall yes- crazy expensive- but also yes we’re all crazy already and will likely acclimatize. I love that red lady Dior. The prices of the Chanel jumbo have got so crazy it’s actually put me off the bag and I’ll probably sell it- makes me uncomfortable. Wonderful video D. You look lovely xxxx
I agree the quality of Dior is stunning. The lambskin is so much nicer than Chanel. However in comparison to classic flap £5300 seems ‘reasonable’ until you remember it’s £5300!!! I still love dior! Obsessed with DJoy!
Dior does not microchip, the Lady Dior does not have edge coating and the skin is so thin in order to wrap it that it tears and scratched up super easy. Not to mention annoying flap and purse feet that is unusable and not safe. The bag could flip and scratch up just by accident should you try to trust the feet and put up the handles wrong.
I’m at that point, I don’t fall for the new bags anymore. I don’t like the price point at all and I’ve got the bags I really really wanted. Time to just enjoy my collection.
With me it is so that I simply ask myself with the prices whether I have actually worn the last bought bags. And: I have such great cuties. I'm starting to get excited about them again and wear them.
My dream bag is chanel medium i dont think i will be able to buy it it is so expensive 😢 and beautiful bag.... Expensive things are the beautiful ones😭
Am à lot more demanfing now considering the prices and wouldn't pay such high prices for bags if their resale value isn't worth it (even though I would never sell my bags, I think resale is a comparator to price reasoning for me). Canvas bags at 2k is where I draw the line...Chanel I will not get in store (quality isn't there to be worth the price tag), Dior I love and are great in quality but cannot justify for the usability of come bags (still debating the tote & lady dior)...but I agree with you, so long as someone is willing to pay the price, they'll put it up🤷♀️
Me too….LV Lover since decades. BUT price increases, quality issues so terrible etc. Chanel, LV is worst. The only one is Hermes. Quality outstanding. Service worldclass. Never bought preloved but will switch to it. 1985 a Speedy was 150,- USD today 1500,- USD. I am done and enjoy what I have. You pay the name that’s it. A leather bag like these is not more than 300-400 €. You pay the status.
The golden rule is, "She who has the gold, makes the rules." From now on, I'm holding onto my gold. These bags aren't worth it anymore. They're just bags with a brand on them. Let them dig themselves into a hole, and support local, independent, or even just high quality products from reasonably priced brands. I used to have the mentality that I didn't want to "downgrade", but lately I've stopped buying ysl and lv, and have actually started looking into contemporary brands and sustainable brands a lot more.
I already said enough i went from wanting to buy lv to just using the ones i have and walking away from luxury
Thanks for sharing x

Yep strength in numbers.

I am still wanting items so I’m not there yet but every price increase feels painful

Yep everything is relative. Mulberry used to be under £200 so £1000 for mulberry feels very expensive x

I enjoy what I have - and I have a lot!
Let’s start the discussion here 👏
Very true. While we keep buying it will never change. I am as guilty as everyone else as I keep buying x

I think we all moan but get over the increases quickly because we keep buying ❤
We do! We are all part of the problem x
I don’t . And I know more people who can buy but are opting out.
My dream bag is chanel medium i dont think i will be able to buy it it is so expensive 😢 and beautiful bag.... Expensive things are the beautiful ones😭
They are soooo expensive now x

I also agree re quality issues - there is a definite reduction in quality yet prices are sky high.

Yes buying independent local brands is not down grading. It’s all just a choice. X
Dior is sooo gorgeous though 😂
I know! And compared to chanel classic flap the prices aren’t too bad! Stop me now!!!! 😂

Unless we are royalty or billionaires, we should have a budget for a bag. I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a bag. 😅😂
I think we should set our own budgets and be happy with our choices. X
