Anyone existing in the realm of film, even people vaguely interested in queer film history, has heard of the Hays Code that ruled the world of film censorship in Golden Age Hollywood. We know how this code impacted queer history and media representation, but what about disability history and media representation? In today’s video, that’s what we try to figure out.

About the child abduction point: wasn't the classic film "The Window" based off an earlier pulp mystery about a child being abducted and threatened with murder, but his parents don't believe him because he lies a lot? Or was that pre-Hays?
