    Pele came to promote Football in the US of the 70s. At time, TV color was first available in history and more than 10mils fans gathered to watch Pele's first game in the US.
    Pele won NASL league, soccer bowl there and also named as MVP of NASL 1977. Career stats: 31goals +25assists in 56games.

      not bad but messi had better stats this season alone in europe, all respect to pele i think he came in the league to retire, messi would still be capable of at least 2 incredible seasons in europe if not more, that’s the biggest difference i think.
      also didn’t pele play in a team with beckenbauer, matthäus and more?

    • @oitoitoi1
      @oitoitoi1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yesmyninja6850 not based on what we saw at PSG post world cup, his drop off was crazy, it's why he wasn't getting serious offers from big clubs other than Barca (who can't afford the players they have even now).
      He's gone to the US to retire.

      @@oitoitoi1 Yeah but he is still at a top level. The problem with other European leagues is that football now a days has changed, is too straightforward, vertical, and even strikers have to run and defend. Messi can't do that at his age anymore.. It is completely natural for any big club to hesitate on hiring a 36 year old player..
      But when he has the ball, he still got a lot of magic. That's why I think he is going to MLS to keep winning things.. he is still way above average

    • @ilyianz
      @ilyianz ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@MU54KAM That is a pretty clueless statement. There is no evidence of Messi's superiority over Pele (only subjective claims by certain people). Pele had a better career reaching the peak both at club level and internationally, including making the World Cup his own by winning it thrice (that is a greater achievement than anything else in football). He scored approximately 1300 professional goals and 2000 goals and assists. Looking only at official matches, Pele's goal and assist ratios are much higher than Messi's. His involvement in team goals is also much higher than Messi's (implying that he was a greater part of his team's victories). His performance in big matches, such as finals, is also significantly better than Messi's. Just look at the difference in numbers. Messi has so many failures in tournaments; Messi's failure rate is as high as Pele's success rate. Pele was also a more all-round player; he could do whatever Messi can but also additionally had immense aerial ability, made perfect long passes, and sound tackles. Pele was also inventive and invented several moves, unlike Messi (who makes the same actions repeatedly). From no angle can anyone demonstrate Messi to be better).

    I think is bigger than the signing of Pele because the sport is more widely known in the US now and with Messi being arguable the greatest player in the world, coming to the US is massive. In saying that, I am sorry to see him come to the US. Even though I am from the US myself, I have lived overseas for much of my adult life and recognize the huge difference on how football is viewed in the US and internationally and I feel like someone of Messi's status and skill going to play in the US is a waste and it is like he will be playing in lower rated league that is made up of less skilled players and I truly believe it will hurt his legacy. I would not be surprised that in the debate between Messi and Renaldo on who is better, this will cause many who are borderline but who have chosen Messi in the past to switch to Renaldo. We will see. In saying that, I think he is the best player to ever play and that my opinion really means nothing and I will continue to support him wherever he plays.

    • @myfasmarine
      @myfasmarine ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think it will be a waste but it's not going to make MLS an interesting league to watch. If they don't take advantage and make big changes then people will just go back to watching other leagues when he leaves. That being said I think it will still have a massive effect that will boost not just MLS but soccer in the lower leagues as well. Maybe then with a stronger 2nd and 3rd division we can start to build a proper footballing pyramid.

    I don't agree with this claim from Argentina or Messi fans that he is the best in the sports history, honestly that title belongs to Pele who had the best resume ahead of likes of Ronaldo, Garrincha, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Romario you name it. But it always remains a mystery to me why the USA ended up calling the sport soccer instead of football like in England, and why it never became as popular as the rest of the world loved the sport.

Pelé tiene el mejor currículum de la historia. Los argentinos nunca admitirán la verdad por la rivalidad con Brasil.
