This is hands down THE best video on truly understanding IR light. I will watch it many times.

This was a really entertaining video and very informative. I just ordered an IR filter for one of my fuji's so i was just looking some stuff up and your video was really good to watch and it didn't bore me. Greetings from Melbourne.

This vlog has come at just the right time for me. I have been contemplating an IR converted camera for some time. A lot of info and a few questions answered. Awesome. Now if you know of anyone selling an 850nm camera cheap.

      Thanks Shaan. Unfortunately not.

Cheap? Buy a 850nm infrared filter, do longtime exposures. That's the cheapest you can get!

100% recommend a converted IR camera. Been using one for 2 years now for landscape, architecture and even model work and it's given some great results 😊🔴📷

I love my full spectrum converted camera...and find that I can shoot all day with it. Golden hour isn't the only time for it to work out.

what lenses do you use with this camera? Do you have to send the lens with the camera to get calibrated when they do the conversion

For some reason, I find it annoying when people refer to infrared as being “above” red and ultraviolet being “below” violet. “Infra” means “below,” and “ultra” means “beyond” (and “supra” means “above”). So infrared is below red, not above it.

If we’re being pedantic, there really is no above or below on the electromagnetic spectrum. IR is “shorter” and UV is “longer” regarding wavelength, and IR is “higher” and UV is “lower” regarding frequency, than visible light.

Wonderful images and very helpful. I love the look of the deep b&w 850nm filter but I think the 720 has more processing latitude. Can you get pretty much the 850 look with a 720 conversion in post?

Thanks Bob. Heading down to the 590nm gives even more flexibility, or you could consider a full spectrum conversion, and then select a filter to swap between spectrums.
