    Thanks for the quick reply. I watch all your videos. Don't ever stop. I have been watching for a year and love to fix things. A real sense of accomplishment is made by fixing a small engine for some one. I don't charge, but people give back. Thanks again. You are a true teacher.

    Looks like the after market muffler, is better built then the OEM part as far as the extra 2 bolts up top, as opposed the the centre weak single bolt tab that comes OEM.
    Great vid, thx.

    As always, a great video Dony! Just a thought. When replacing the muffler, would that be a good time to check the exhaust port for carbon buildup? Your videos are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Gee I'm surprised at the loctite. I would assume anti seize for muffler bolts since the engine gets so hot and they often break off.

    I got a homelite classic 200 that won't run with the choke off runs on full choke and half choke. It just shuts off on full choke instantly. I picked it up at a garage sale for $10 and its in museum ready shape.

    I have a mcColloch mini Mac 6 and I have the chain loosened enough like it should be and the cover for the bar right but when I run the saw the chain tightins up and the saw cuts off and none of the line are closed

  • @msisley05

    Thank you for the video. I have great difficulty starting mine (038 Magnum), so I have done some (attempted) troubleshooting. I thought I had flooded the engine, so I followed Stihl recommendations of removing the spark plug and putting the master switch to "Stop" and giving it a few pulls. I noticed that the chainsaw sounds much healthier when the spark plug is not inserted and I also noticed that the pull cord is not as difficult to pull. I have tried pulling with the air filter removed and the muffler removed, but it only sounds better and feels better when the spark plug is not in. It seems that if the engine would rev with spark plug in just as it does when I pull the pull cord and the spark plug is NOT in, then it would start easily. Currently, I have not been able to start it. Any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

    • @lonewarrior1999
      @lonewarrior1999 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's easier to pull on the cord with the spark plug out because there isn't any compression. the different sound is probably due to this aswell.

    Thanks for your great Video's, I Luv them all. Just one quick question, I just completely re-furbished a Stihl 038 Magnum, and I noticed in this video that it took 3- 4 pulls to get it started, mine does too, Is this normal and inherient of this model ?

    Thank God for aftermarket small engine prices. If I had to pay dealer prices for parts, 95% of what I work on would go to the crusher. That 038 is probably good for years and years of service. How did the piston look when you pulled the muffler?

    Some of those Stihl mufflers are quite expensive. I remember back in 1985 when I bought my business, one of the mufflers was $119 back then and we didn't have aftermarket parts for them. I use to sell and service Stihl, Homelite saws and Jacobson tractors. Now I sell and service Stihl, Jonsered and Hudqvarna equipment. The good thing is Jonsered and Husqvarna are the same now so if I don't have parts for one, I usually do from the other brand.

    Great Video, as are all of yours... very helpful, Thank You. Unfortunately, Discount online parts does Not, now... stock any mufflers for Any chainsaws, apparently. I realize my comment is now 5 years (2014 - 2019) since you posted this video, but I was just on their site, and they do stock everything else imaginable for small engines and chainsaws... but, incredibly.. No Mufflers!! Makes no sense, seeing as how mufflers, especially on 2 strokes, Do burn out, or damaged from vibration, etc, etc.. and need to be replaced as correct back-pressure for 2 cycles is critical in how well they will run... or, Not!
