I'm so going to try this! Have dried a few meals for my trips, really need to do more. And I love sloppy joes! So far have done chili, goulash, my deer meat burritos and a couple others. Never have put cheese on the joes....gonna try it. Thank you.
I just did this over the weekend. It was amazing! I put it on top of English muffins because that what I take for bread on trips. This is one of my all time favorites. Thanks for the video
English muffins....that is a good idea! That sloppy joe mix is incredible stuff! It is one of my favorite go to meals now as well. Absolutely delicious
You wouldn’t by any chance be bringing some of that up to Maine would you ? LOL ! Freaking awesome ! Another great dehydrating idea ! Am so happy that I’ve gotten into dehydrating ! I’ve been dehydrating something almost every night ! For canoe trips, and backpacking trips ! So fun, and so much tastier and better for you than commercial pre packaged meals. Thanks for sharing, see you in a week ! Peace ✌️
Oh you know I am!!!! Same here man, our dehydrator has been running non stop since we got it! I have a big trip coming up that I need to prepare for ........
I've never heard of 'Sloppy Joes' (Swiss here) ! But that looks like it would taste great (based on ingredients and optics).. So I will have to pick up some ground beef (no ground turkey in Swiss supermarkets) and give it a try! thanks!
You have to give it a try. Traditionally they are made from beef. I use ground turkey in most of my dehydrated meals. It reconstitutes well, but beef will dehydrate and rehydrate just fine.
These were very tasty. I don't really have a bread of choice. But these ciabatta rolls were delicious. Always a good choice. I don't vacuum seal because it is costly and unnecessary. The food gets hard and pointy, this leads to a high percentage of poke through, breaking the seal. I don't want to pad out every bag to prevent that. When I am backpacking, a lot of the time I just add boiling water to the freezer bag, wait 20 minutes and eat it right out of the bag. The food in freezer bags keeps for a very long time. If I am not putting the food in the freezer, it goes in mason jars in the basement. It will keep for a very long time.
So, your basic recipe for meat is 1 lb ground turkey to 1/2 cup bread crumbs? Then you add whatever seasoning you want for whatever dish you're making. Is that correct?
@@ItsGoodintheWoods oh I don't disagree with its value lol. Even being a foodie I've never put cheese on them. Not sure why I never thought of that lmao. It was always about the Joe mix. I've been making sloppy Joe's wrong my whole life.
Traditionally they are made with beef. But we make them with turkey a lot. And ground turkey rehydrates very well. I use ground turkey in a lot of my dehydrated meals.
Could you just use a larger ziploc bag and pour boiling water into that and let it sit? I'm thinking that's a pan you don't have to clean in the woods.
Great idea Man! Thanks for sharing!
Try it sometime man.
That really does look amazing Justin. Thanks man !
It’s so good!
Thanks for the video, that looked really good.
you are welcome Doc ! They are delicious!

I always thought Sloppy Joe’s were beef! They’re not something I’ve ever had in the UK.
