What a legend. Watched all his TV episodes back in the early to mid nineties. Being a quick learner and eager to see how he fished I learned all the fishing skills and know-how from watching and listening to his ways as an angler Absolutely a legend in my eyes and still love watching the vids today. RIP Wilson and I hope you're fishing rivers and lakes on the journey your taking now.
Ahhh John Wilson!!! I never missed an episode when I was a kid, I remember it was on on a Thursday or Friday night but it was just in time to get me hyped about the weekends fishing I must've been about 7-8 years old lol! RIP John you brought us anglers more joy than you probably ever realised, not many fishing programmes on the TV in the 90's...
@@jezchef Yeah, he's like the godfather of UK fishing shows and surely got many youngsters into the sport... A true legend on the UK fishing scene that's for sure!
I was the same age 7/8 and it was on Sunday here in the isle of man, he gave up so many tips he was a large part of my interest in fishing 🎣 top bloke 👍
It was a 2 day process to convert and upload all the new Go fishing vids I’ve posted. I had to finish what I started two years ago. Now everyone else can enjoy the memories of a fishing legend, the one and only John Wilson.
@@jezchef I'm sure it was a labour of love uploading the episode's. I absolutely loved John Wilson's TV series just a pity we don't have people like him on the TV now . Haven't fished in a number of year's but after watching these I'm tempted to purchase a new rod and reel and get back at it.
Thanks for your outstanding contribution to angling, sure John would appeciate your efforts 😆 And the guy was never a bigot, appreciated everybody everywhere
Thank you for uploading this .. John Wilson gave my childhood that bit of extra enjoyment. Growing up in Northern Ireland, I had a world of fishing at my doorstep. Thanks to John, I'd venture out a try new methods, etc.
So glad to see these popping up. Many I missed originally. I love the simplicity of fishing back then, so far removed from the huge base stations, extra rods and roosts of the modern match angler. As for John he never followed angling fashion but went his own way instead. From his “ mobile tackle shop” jackets to his cut down waders much easier to walk in but maintaining the waterproof kneel patch, it worked for him but surprisingly didn’t become fishing mainstream methods. But he ignored all that. If it worked for him that’s all that mattered and I too have followed his approach. I use plumbers knee pads to avoid “ muddy knee syndrome” and to preserve those valuable joints instead. Others don’t do it, think it looks stupid, but it works for me just like Johns cut down waders did for him. He could of course have used the very best, the most expensive gear, but he wanted to show I think that you could achieve results with simple well used gear fishing properly. He didn’t upgrade to the latest new gear for the sake of it when his older gear still did the job. That helped make angling more accessible to the masses without breaking the bank. He never took up with the biggest brand of suppliers for sponsorship although no doubt he could. He brought the joy of fishing to the masses, combining that with his love of world wide travel. It’s sad that he is no longer with us, except a part of him will always remain through his extensive back library of film. Searching out new adventures and angling frontiers whilst at the same time staying his own man, a bit of a Maverick, not tied to promoting tackle brands products whether he truly favours them or not. A unique one off personality who popularised a sport combining it with a clear love of nature and the flora and fauna around us. Bless you John and your sayings. Wherever your sprit is now may those monsters still “come to Johny” and the “ clonkers” continue to be netted.
Massive thanks for the video! So gutted they are not all available, grew up with Wilson, would love to see them all again, all the later late 90s series are nowhere to be found
Yes I’ve seen them and in massively grateful but have you got any from the mid to late 90s? I’ve never seen any on TH-cam or anywhere else, believe me I’ve looked!
