I saw these guys with Rita years ago in Lethbridge Alberta. They were absolutely amazing👍💃🏻💃🏻💖
My dad mined all over 🇨🇦 for many years. I take my hat off to all the miners for what they did to support their families🙏💙

I have tears in my eyes remembering my late dad. He was a coal miner too from Indonesia. The site was in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra. He was sent to the Cape Breton once for 3 months. This just makes me sad. God bless for all the coal miners everywhere.

When I was eighteen I went into the hard rock mines in Snow Lake Manitoba. I am always thankful for the way the miners accepted me and taught me safety was premier. I know from experience that mining is about working and dying. My hard-hat is off to the coal miners of Cape Breton the land where I was born. God bless, Guys. Well done!

My daddy didn't work the mines, but he did work HARD in a factory, and was burned more than once by molten metal. This is his song. he worked so hard, and has always been a workn man, and I will always be ever so proud of my daddy for providing all he could. he taught me what work ethic is & how you DON'T EVER STOP! YOU MAKE DAMNED SURE YOU & YOURS HAVE WHAT YOU NEED! From a tot, I was by his side working around our home too; cutting & stacking wood, taking cut grass, picking up sticks, anything that needed done. My daddy is why I'm strong!

really bring home the reality of the mines. They also bring home the spirit of the miners.

This is the most beautiful song in the world... But very sad.. it brings tears to my eyes,as I think of my father leaving the house so early in the cold cold winter mornings walking across the little brook (# 12 Mines New Waterford)to go to work.. God Bless ALL the coal Miners , ( and everyone thought this winter was cold) , not in comparison to the cold these Miners had to face every morning to keep food on the table for his wife and kids and family . and R.I.P.Da ..... ♥ PS Matt sounded great as always..

My dad Ronald Dan McLellan use to work in 16 and then 18 pit. Sometimes he would go down when it was dark and it would be dark when he came up.
Silicosis; Emphysema and Asthma were his constant companions yet every day he did it again to feed us. Miners were and still are men beyond the norm in courage and perseverance.
Perhaps that is why I can never listen to a bow on the fiddle or bagpipes without the tears. It is out of respect and love for all the miners who worked together as a team to get the job done!

I visit every so often, at least on 9 May, when we should all remember the tragedy at Westray. The song also makes me think of my Grandfather who worked underground and in pit mines at Sudbury, Ontario.

O.M.G.what a magnificent rendition of this song. And when the lights went out at the end it really brought it all home. Thinking of my great grandfather James Hall and his brother William Hall who perished in the Kaitangata mine disaster in New Zealand In 1879. And paying heartfelt respect to all those who go down underground.

Our grandfather Michael Currie and great grandfather John Currie and great uncle Charles were all killed in the mine explosion July 25 1917. Next summer will be a hundred year anniversary and we Michaels grandchildren will be there at 7:00 a.m. to pay our respects to the relatives we never got to meet.
