The space bar broke on my hyper x alloy origins (full layout though) as well in that exact same way, so I'm thinking this is a flaw with their quality check on this model series. I'm leaning towards Razer huntsman now.
The Razer Huntsman that replaced this HyperX keyboard for my kid, has been holding up great, and after few months of pretty heavy use, still looks and works like new.
