Dear Don't Memorize. Gotta love your channel title. So, I was a little surprised at your explanation of how to calculate base 3 log(8), moving directly to a memorized formula, the same way it is conventionally taught. It may be a little slower to derive the formula, but if you don't use it every day the derivation is easy, and fundamentals are reinforced. Let y = log base 3(8), which by definition means 3^(y) = 8. Now take the natural log of each side. you get y*ln(3)= ln(8). Now divide both sides by ln(3), and you have the memorized formula, at least for the specific example when you used natural logs. To get the general formula, notice that the derivation works for any base.
Thank you don't memorise channel for making us to learn more easier and understand properly the concepts which u teach . They are more useful for us . One second thank you for your efforts 👍👍👍
She has derived a property useful for doing sums.. All that multiplying and dividing was done to reduce the formula in a form which is easy to remember
I dont know how i paased my graduation n even 4 years done that.. The last time i did logarithms once n for last time , it was 10 years ago..today my younger bro (younger among 11 siblings) came to ask me these questions.. Can't type math in comment so i'll use these annotations: log_a_B means log of B to base a. z[x] = y mean z to power x equal y. Example 3[2]=9 Change of base, where did it come from? 1) log_3_8 = a 3[a]=8. 2) log_e_8 = x e[x]=8. 3) log_e_3 = y e[y]=3 4) From 1) 2), we can get 3[a]=e[x] 5) Replace 3 with e[y], we can get e[y][a] = e[x]. e[y][a] is the same as e[ya], so we have e[ya]=e[x] 6) Remove e, we have ya = x 7) a = x/y log_3_8 = log_e_8/log_e_3

I think that I fell in love with don't memorise.
awesome. guys..
how do you choose what base to use for the change of base formula?
Excellent
3:10
log can also be expressed as lg
lg is also equals to log to base 10
Can't type math in comment so i'll use these annotations:
log_a_B means log of B to base a.
z[x] = y mean z to power x equal y. Example 3[2]=9
Change of base, where did it come from?
1) log_3_8 = a 3[a]=8.
2) log_e_8 = x e[x]=8.
3) log_e_3 = y e[y]=3
4) From 1) 2), we can get 3[a]=e[x]
5) Replace 3 with e[y], we can get e[y][a] = e[x].
e[y][a] is the same as e[ya], so we have e[ya]=e[x]
6) Remove e, we have ya = x
7) a = x/y log_3_8 = log_e_8/log_e_3
Darn if you're not correct. I plugged in log(e) x ln(10) = in the calculator and 1 popped up. Thanks for the lesson.
please explain where change of base comes from
Great, extremely great effort by you.
