Great video! But how 500/8 is 625? It should be 62.5 which is less than 500 so the flow will be less. So is this going to improve flow starvation or make it worse?

I thought that Itime was a variable that could not change in VC mode.

This may be ventilator dependent, but the majority of ventilators allow you to change the itime through the I:E ratio. This is the ratio of time provided for inspiration as compared to expiration. By modulating this ratio, you can modulate the inspiratory time. Does that make sense?

Hi Sorry but you are causing problems here with your improper explanation of I-time. In volume control I-time is the quotient of tv/(flow/60). I-time is not set directly you can set the total cycle time by manipulating the rate but you cant set the I-time simply because if you change either the tv or flow then as a result the I-time must change.

Pressure is variable in volume control…it’s not a set pressure..

That is correct. Did we misspeak somewhere?

We really appreciate the feedback and additional explanation! Apologies if it was confusing. This is somewhat ventilator brand dependent. On some ventilators in volume control you can set the tidal volume and itime which as you mentioned determines the flow. One other brands you set the tidal volume and flow which as you mentioned determines the itime. All ways to do the same thing. The only difference is what the brand allows you to adjust and set
