One of the absolute best of Cinematic Titanic, and that's high praise. Frank and Mary Jo are my favs, but I love them all! There's so much to love about this absolute disaster of a movie -- the super full gas jug, Slade on a rescue mission, the totally official vehicles -- but the best is that it's NOT progeria!
I love all the incarnations of riff that these talented men and women have created, but there is something special about Cinematic Titanic. The episodes, especially the live ones, feel like a party you've been invited to. All that's missing is the light shade on your head...
I remember when Cinematic Titanic made its debut, I bought every CD and have one that Trace autographed! Those were precious days when that gang reunited. This episode is my favorite but I love them all!
So good! Wish Joel Would Have Kept Cinematic Titanic Going instead of a New Gen of MST3k. I don't Care how Old The Original cast Gets - They Are The Only MST3K crew for Me!
It's interesting how the 1970s references are lost on the audience because a whole generation was born and grew up since MST3K began. MAN, I love this episode! I can't tell you how much happiness you bring into my life.
If only they could have gotten Charles Nelson Reilly to play the part of the mayor...And the REAL Sam Elliott to play the sheriff! But it was good to see the Creature from the Black Lagoon making a comeback,...I mean a return, it's a RETURN to the cinema! Alright, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close up now!
This is my favorite episode of Cinematic Titanic. This and Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks. Fun fact about this movie: It has a budget of just $3,500 USD and boy does it show!!
Does Don Dohler ever Dissapoint? As Joel said, 'Think about it, won't you?' Thank YOU, 'This goes in the Master vault, as a new favorite.' You guys are amazing and I'm actually surprised, but Super pleased, you did this one, The 'Cinematic Titanic' way!! Love, peace & 'RIFF 'EM All'
Absolutely magnificent!! Having watched the original a fair few years ago on Talking Pictures TV, or something like that, I thought "this flick needs the MST3K treatment". This is good enough for me.
Just imagine if this freak accident of a film survived as humanity's only testament that we existed....aliens really would write us off as a species then.
51:10 that is actually kind of an excellent monster movie premise.. i was about to say i've never seen that before, but actually, that was the ultimate plot of Okami.
Did any other John Waters fans recognize Peggy Gravel's husband from Desperate Living? I spent the rest of the movie with eyes peeled for other Baltimore actors I might know. I love MST3K, but Cinematic Titanic is my all-time favorite.
Damn, the Station Wagon of the Sheriff in The Crater Lake Monster was more based than this Sheriff's Cop car. _ Edit _ State Trooper comes in with a Beetle - I stand corrected.
This has one of my all-time favorite riffs. Joel's "Drake Unger" bit just floored me the first time I watched this and still cracks me up. Also, is Don Leifert as Ben Zachary one of the most annoying characters in all of cinema, or is it just me?
@@mjjoe76 wait are you telling me this whole time. MST Josh Weinstein isn't Simpsons / Mission Hill Josh Weinstein??? They just happen to have the exact same sense of humor?
1:08:00 SPOILERS So ROTOR used the same Horn technique as ALIEN FACTOR, to slow the monster? I Love ROTOR & Donny Dohler ;) and I'm shocked by this grand Larceny!! The Funniest part, is the fact that ROTOR was a machine & this is a 'Living creature' and the Aliens in 'Signs' were killed by, (.........REDACTED.) When the riffing is this good I'll shut-up and just relax ;)
1:02:40 is it me or are the eyelines all over the place here? One second, she's looking at his shoulder, the next, she's looking at the wall. anywhere but where his face should be
@@4jp I guess I should have been more specific. I meant this episode of Cinematic Titanic. Nevertheless, thank you for the information about the film. I also find them interesting as well.
I love the commentary. As for the movie itself..... On paper this should have been a slam dunk. 3 alien animals being transported to Space Zoo escape and each one is a unique monster with it's own gimmicks and weaknesses. Then the twist that a Superhero Alien is sent to stop the three monsters and you have a B-Movie plot with some shake ups. The problem is the execution. As the Comentary pointed out, the padding in this movie is inexcusable! The scenes of people walking aimlessly through the forest happens way, WAY too many times, important scenes getting stretched out to be longer than they should. Don't even get me started on that random musical number that happens for no reason! On top of all of that is this half assed lame ending that makes very little sense and is so abrupt that I burst out laughing! That is NOT how you end a film. I have seen most of Cinematic Titanic and while I bashed this movie for it's terrible pacing, it is NOT the worst film these guys covered.... but it's not the best film they covered either. Cinematic Titanic tends to focus on more darker material and this was weirdly tame compared to the other films. Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks and the Oozing Skull were awful, but at least they had stuff MST3K couldn't show. I wanted to put this up there with Legacy of Blood, Blood of the Vampires and Genocide, but I can't. It's slightly worse than the Doomsday Machine as that film was consistent with it's themes but the Gianax Ending ruined it. I got angry with Doomsday Machine because it had everything in it's hands and still dropped the ball. This? I felt nothing. The Alien Factor needed some better writers or a higher budget. Something that would cut down the filler and replace it with something that expands the plot or characters. At least Tiki Island was fun.
It's just so nice NOT having Murphy ruining it with his juvenile poop jokes, lame impersonations, and pretentious jazz references. Josh, I blame you for leaving MST! There's no way Murphy could ever fill your shoes. At least you got Bill the gig when Trace left. That makes up for some of it. Oh, and I saw CT live in SF, and it was great.
damn you can REALLY tell they had to script, practice and write down all this. its a real shame. the jokes werent bad but, the delivery, the timing. its all so...rehersed .and saying jokes sometimes before the clip theyure talking about has started. they need improv people. maybe ask red letter media, this seems like their sorta thing. they nail this :}

One of the top ten riffs of all time. Incredible work from the gang.

Alien Factor? Alien hardly Knewer!!
J. Elvis also wrote the badass theme song! That's a talented dude!
I love when the riff makes co-riffers laugh. Then you know its an excellent riff😅

The fact I knew that bridge at 44:07 solidified the fact it was filmed in Maryland
More of these live shows on TH-cam please !
ITS THREE DOG NIGHT!
When combined with “Mama told me not to come!” a few second later, that was probably the best riff of the whole movie.
Being a decades long MST3k fan, watching these Cinematic Titanics is like hanging out with old friends. Really funny old friends.
I had that very blue fur coat that the little girl in the ball scene is wearing lol. I loved it.

He did it to avoid confusion with the writer/producer from _The Simpsons_ who is also named -Bort- Josh Weinstein.

1:03:10 That gets me every time! 😂
